Cuando los habitantes de nuestro planeta ya empezaban a ver nuestra problemática habitual, como el cambio climático, protección de la biodiversidad, el calentamiento global, deforestación, destrucción de hábitats, las especies en vías de extinción, la economía a base de combustibles fósiles, entre otros, considerados como nuevos problemas en la vida cotidiana, diversas organizaciones, como la ONU proponía nuevos planes y agendas referentes a estos ítems, para que la población tome conciencia de la alteración de su entorno. Cada país vivía su momento, sus preocupaciones, problemas políticos, actos de corrupción, elecciones, fenómenos climáticos, sin embarro y de forma inesperada surgió la pandemia por el coronavirus1-3.Algunos investigadores lo llaman el momento de la antropausa, los humanos no queremos entender lo que significa, la naturaleza pide a la humanidad una pausa, una acción efectiva, para reparar los ecosistemas dañados por el hombre, y recuperar en parte la pérdida de la biodiversidad. Todos los gobiernos tuvieron que cambiar sus planes y agendas, para investigar al agente infeccioso que se expandía a gran velocidad por el planeta y proteger a sus conciudadanos. La población acostumbrada a los viajes, a los momentos de placer, diversión, los negocios, producción de alimentos, etc., fueron afectados repentinamente de manera brusca y prematura, como si fuera un sueño, el cual ha roto nuestro modus vivendi, es decir nuestro esquema de comunicación, interrelación familiar, la concentración de masas en mercados, plazas, vías y medios de comunicación, y poco a poco estamos entrando a un nueva forma de vivir: con el distanciamiento social, el uso de la mascarilla y protectores faciales, el lavado manos por veinte segundos, que será parte de nuestra vida diaria 4,5.Es un acontecimiento mundial sin precedentes, cual es la pandemia de un agente viral y sus complicaciones en la salud humana. Muchos investigadores relacionaron a la destrucción de la naturaleza y la aparición de nuevas pandemias.La investigación en tiempos de pandemia continua y ha dado un giro con la aplicación y la programación on line, ejerciendo una fuerte influencia en las decisiones políticas durante esta pandemia, el papel de la investigación científica se enmarco, se enfrascó en control de la pandemia. Generando nuevas investigaciones en el campo de salud humana. Estas investigaciones continúan de manera acelerada, la producción de vacunas y la publicación de artículos científicos. Los investigadores lo llaman preprints o revisiones rápidas y transparentes, como una opción mucho más asequible en la comunidad científica, es una gran oportunidad para las comunidades científicas muchas veces relegada, es bueno reducir las barreras burocráticas, claro que tiene sus limitaciones. En cuanto a la brecha de género, muestra que las mujeres están iniciando con la publicación de manuscritos, iniciando así una nueva era durante la pandemia6.Nuestra revista internacional indexada Journal of the Selva Andina Research Society, que sigue laborando en tiempos de pandemia, continúa con su objetivo de promover y difundir investigaciones inéditas que generen impacto en la zona de influencia, con base a la normativa correspondiente7.

Eichhornia crassipes es una planta acuática, presente en climas tropicales. Debido al mal manejo de aguas residuales domésticas en ecosistemas acuáticos su reproducción es prominente, por lo tanto, en cuerpos de aguas contaminados, la biomasa de esta planta es muy abundante y por ende su disposición final conlleva grandes gastos económicos. Además, toda esta biomasa en la actualidad no se aprovecha de manera sostenible. Esta planta podría utilizarse para diferentes usos de tipo ambiental, debido a su comprobado uso en la recuperación de aguas contaminadas con metales pesados y también se podría utilizar en la producción de biocombustibles debido a su alto contenido de celulosa en su biomasa. El objetivo de esta investigación es desarrollar un proceso sostenible entre fitorremediación y producción de bioetanol con la biomasa de Eichhornia crassipes, evaluando la incidencia de plomo (II) adherido a la biomasa de esta planta en la producción de bioetanol. Materiales y métodos: se instaló un sistema para evaluar la fitorremediación con E. crassipes con agua cargada con plomo (II) y la determinación de la eficacia de esta planta para eliminar este metal pesado incluso si está viva en un cuerpo de agua. Después de este proceso se procedió a tomar la biomasa cargada con plomo (II); se llevó a los biorreactores para evaluar la producción de bioetanol, así como para la evaluación de tres tipos de biomasa: una sin plomo (II) adherido y los otros dos con plomo (II) adherido a la estructura de su planta. Hubo una disminución del 30 % en la producción de etanol de Eichhornia crassipes debido a la presencia de plomo (II). Se concluye que la biomasa de E. crassipes podría utilizarse totalmente para los procesos de fitorremediación de aguas contaminadas con metales pesados.

This study delves into the diagnosis of pin nematodes (Paratylenchus spp.) in Spain based on integrative taxonomical approaches using 24 isolates from diverse natural and cultivated environments. Eighteen species were identified using females, males (when available) and juveniles with detailed morphology-morphometry and molecular markers (D2-D3, ITS and COI). Molecular markers were obtained from the same individuals used for morphological and morphometric analyses. The cryptic diversity using an integrative taxonomical approach of the Paratylenchus straeleni-species complex was studied, consisting of an outstanding example of the cryptic diversity within Paratylenchus and including the description of a new species, Paratylenchus parastraeleni sp. nov. Additionally, 17 already known species were identified comprising P. amundseni, P. aciculus, P. baldaccii, P. enigmaticus, P. goodeyi, P. holdemani, P. macrodorus, P. neoamblycephalus, P. pandatus, P. pedrami, P. recisus, P. sheri, P. tateae, P. variabilis, P. veruculatus, P. verus, and P. vitecus. Eight of these species need to be considered as first reports for Spain in this work (viz. P. amundseni, P. aciculus, P. neoamblycephalus, P. pandatus, P. recisus, P. variabilis, P. verus and P. vitecus). Thirty-nine species of Paratylenchus have been reported in Spain from cultivated and natural ecosystems. Although we are aware that nematological efforts on Paratylenchus species in Southern Spain have been higher than that carried out in central and northern part of the country, the present distribution of the genus in Spain, with about 90% of species (35 out of 39 species, and 24 of them confirmed by integrative taxonomy) only reported in Southern Spain, suggest that this part of the country can be considered as a potential hotspot of biodiversity.

En la última década, se ha construido un imaginario de Costa Rica como un país líder en el campo de las energías “limpias” y renovables y la lucha contra el cambio climático. El presente artículo se propone reflexionar acerca de la construcción de este imaginario, el cual ha alcanzado su máxima expresión a través del lanzamiento, en febrero de 2019, del Plan Nacional de Descarbonización (PND), promovido explícitamente como una forma de convertir al país en “laboratorio mundial de descarbonización”. Se argumenta que la imagen internacional de Costa Rica como país de energías “limpias” está inscrita en un contexto de gobernanza mundial del cambio climático, que, desde sus orígenes en la década de 1990, ha estado dominado por un paradigma que busca compatibilizar la cuestión ambiental/climática con el pensamiento desarrollista y economicista de mercado: el capitalismo verde. Asimismo, se plantea la idea que Costa Rica desempeña un papel estratégico como “eco-laboratorio neoliberal”, escenario de experimentación de formas innovadoras de gobernanza ambiental

La sección temática del volumen 11 del Anuario del Centro de Investigación y Estudios Políticos tiene como propósito estudiar la compleja tensión entre la imagen de responsabilidad ambiental y armonía social que Costa Rica proyecta al proyecta al mundo y su conflictiva realidad a la hora de balancear entre sostenibilidad ambiental, justicia social y el desarrollo económico. Los artículos que componen esta sección exploran las múltiples dimensiones de esta confrontación y la forma en que esta se desenvuelve en una variedad de sectores, incluyendo el desarrollo agropecuario, la conservación ambiental, la producción energética, el turismo y las políticas sobre cambio climático. Baja California se unió al grupo de 12 entidades mexicanas que han concluido la elaboración del Programa Estatal de Acción ante el Cambio Climático (PEACCBC). Sin embargo, en el informe, los estudios de impactos en sectores socioeconómicos y ecosistemas incluyen los efectos directos del Cambio Climático (CC), pero excluyen los efectos indirectos (interdependencias) y dinámicos (retroalimentación). El objetivo es integrar todos los impactos atribuibles al CC en un Modelo Regional Multisectorial de Simulación Dinámica (MRMSD) conceptualmente basado en un Enfoque Sistémico y metodológicamente apoyado en la Dinámica de Sistemas. La ampliación del modelaje muestra que los efectos adversos totales son entre dos y tres veces mayores que los efectos directos, lo que señala la importancia de desarrollar instrumentos que permitan la estimación de los efectos totales del deterioro del medio ambiente a nivel regional.

El objetivo fue proponer un modelo de Gestión sostenible del agua en base a un estudio evolutivo para el desarrollo sostenible en la región Piura. Este trabajo se realizó bajo el paradigma hipotético deductivo, de tipo sustantiva básica con diseño correlacional transversal. Se utilizaron dos cuestionarios: cuestionario 1, aplicado a una muestra de 220 familias, para la obtención de información sobre el consumo de agua, y el cuestionario 2, aplicado a una muestra de 36 profesionales en ejercicio de la administración pública, estos instrumentos fueron complementados con fichas bibliográficas. Se empleó la prueba chi-cuadrada (X2), grados de libertad=32) con un nivel de significación del 5% (α=0,05) con la finalidad de demostrar las hipótesis planteadas. Confrontando los valores obtenidos experimentalmente se rechazó la hipótesis nula. El modelo de gestión y el estudio evolutivo del agua si contribuyen al desarrollo sostenible del agua.
