Sobre la gravedad de los efectos que el sistema económico está teniendo sobre el entorno natural y como consecuencia de ello, están surgiendo nuevas formas de entender la relación entre la economía y la ecología, entre los procesos de producción y consumo y la base natural de la cual extraemos de forma directa o de forma muy mediada todo lo que nos permite producir, consumir, lo que nos permite sobrevivir finalmente.Esta época en que vivimos estamos en un proceso ya no solo personal, sino colectivo y global, por tanto en un proceso de ruptura y continuidad. A pesar de ello, hasta recientemente era difícil encontrar patrones en la estructura de este tipo de interacciones en las comunidades. En años recientes se ha promovido el análisis de las interacciones mutualistas como redes que muestran las conexiones entre las especies. Esta aproximación permite la descripción de patrones estructurales que operan en las interacciones ecológicas en el nivel de comunidad y constituye un nuevo campo en la ecología. En este estudio definimos, caracterizamos y analizamos 4 subredes de polinización, formadas por las interacciones entre colibríes y plantas en varios paisajes del centro-este de México. Las interacciones en las comunidades analizadas muestran un patrón anidado en su estructura, similar al reportado para otras redes de mutualismos. Se ha sugerido que esta característica, en conjunto con otras que se han descrito para este tipo de redes, promueve la coexistencia de las especies en una comunidad, teniendo por lo tanto implicaciones ecológicas y conservacionistas para las comunidades de colibríes y plantas del centro-este de México.Several studies report that mutualistic interactions have molded global biodiversity. However, in the past, it was difficult to find structural patterns in them when they were assessed from a community perspective. Mutualistic networks approach has been proposed as a new method to represent and study interactions. It allows to describe structural patterns in the interactions at community level. Here, we describe and assess 4 pollination sub networks of hummingbird-plant communities located in several landscapes of Central-eastern Mexico. The interactions recorded in the communities show a nested structural pattern, similar to the reported in other networks. It has been suggested that such characteristics, together with others described for this kind of networks, can promote the species coexistence in a community, and in turn have ecological and conservational implications to the hummingbird and plants communities of Central-eastern Mexico. El empleo de marcadores moleculares para determinar el sexo de las aves es una herramienta útil debido a la exactitud y rapidez de los resultados y a su vez se constituye en un método que minimiza el estrés durante la toma de muestra, comparado con otras técnicas invasivas que pudieran afectar la salud o estabilidad biológica del animal. La determinación temprana del sexo en aves resulta de especial relevancia cuando se consideran programas de conservación ex situ, producción, explotación y estudios de ecología de poblaciones. Esta revisión presenta las metodologías usadas para determinar el sexo, haciendo especial énfasis en herramientas moleculares, presentando sus ventajas y limitaciones. ABSTRACT The lack of sexual dimorphism in nestling, juvenile or adult birds of large number of avian species, makes it difficult or impossible sex determination based on phenotipic characteristics. To use molecular markers for bird sex determination is a rapid and safe procedure; moreover this methodology minimizes the stress during sampling, compared to other invasive techniques that could affect the health or biological stability of the animal. The early sex determination in birds is of particular importance when considering ex situ conservation programs, production, exploitation or population ecology studies. El muestreo se realizó durante los meses marzo-abril (seca-húmeda), agosto (seca) y octubre (húmeda) del año 2001. Las muestras de roseta y denecromasa a diferentes alturas con respecto al suelo (distribución vertical), fueron subdivididasen secciones foliares (distribución horizontal), procesadas según la técnica de aislamiento demicelio activo en medios de cultivo PDA y luego determinadas hasta especie. La clase-forma:Deuteromycete presentó cuatro familias, Moniliaceae, Dematiaceae, Melanconiaceae ySphaeropsidaceae, donde la familia Moniliaceae exhibió la mayor riqueza de especies (4),seguida por la Dematiaceae (3); de igual forma la clase Ascomicete con cuatro familias,Sordariaceae, Chaetomiaceae, Lasiosphaerinaceae y Nectriaceae, siendo Sordariaceae la másrepresentativa en especies (2). Las clases Oomycetes y Zigomycetes presentaron una familia,Pytiaceae y Mortierelaceae respectivamente; la familia Pytiaceae estuvo representada por tresespecies. Es de anotar que, la clase-forma Deuteromycetes presenta la mayor riqueza en fami-lias, especies y la mayor abundancia de individuos, sin embargo, los individuos con las mayoresfrecuencias y una amplia distribución correspondes a las clases Ascomycetes y Oomycete.Las especies de hongos siguieron un patrón de distribución fundamentado en la heteroge-neidad espacial como temporal de los hábitats en estudio. Pythium vexansy Sordaria fimicolarepresentaron 33% de la abundancia total de las especies de hongos asociadas a la necromasade Espeletia grandiflora.
