En este estudio se evaluaron dos formulaciones diferentes de salchichas elaboradas con carne de conejo, utilizando como extendedores harina de chontaduro (Bactris gasipaes) y almidón modificado de maíz. Ambas formulaciones consistieron en 60% de carne de conejo, 12% de grasa de cerdo y 4% del respectivo extensor, el porcentaje restante correspondió a hielo y condimentos. Los análisis bromatológicos mostraron los contenidos siguientes (base seca): (1) en carne = 60.90% de proteína, 33.65% de grasa, 4.46% de cenizas y 0.99% de carbohidratos; (2) en salchichas elaboradas con adición de harina de chontaduro = 15.96% de proteína, 13.55% de grasa, 4.10% de cenizas, 3.42% de carbohidratos y 60.63% de humedad; y (3) en salchichas elaboradas con adición de almidón modificado de maíz = 14.54% de proteína, 11.53% de grasa, 3.81% de cenizas, 3.99% de carbohidratos y 63.42% de humedad. Las pruebas microbiológicas consistieron en el análisis de los parámetros tradicionales de calidad y seguridad, además de mediciones sensoriales utilizando pruebas afectivas de preferencia, de grado de satisfacción y de aceptación que permitieron concluir que las salchichas elaboradas presentaron características de inocuidad para el ser humano y de gran aceptación gracias a sus buenas propiedades organolépticas, resultando productos tipo Premium según la NTC 1325.

El Bosque Seco Tropical es uno de los ecosistemas más amenazados en Colombia y aún se desconocen diferentes aspectos sobre su avifauna y ecología, especialmente en el sur del Valle del Magdalena en Colombia. En este estudio se evaluaron las variaciones en la diversidad taxonómica y funcional en un ensamblaje de aves en un área con diferentes estados sucesionales en un bosque seco en el sur del valle del río Magdalena. Para la caracterización de la avifauna se llevaron a cabo puntos de conteos de radio fijo y para la complejidad de hábitat se cuantificaron variables estructurales de la vegetación en cada estado sucesional, se realizó un análisis de componentes principales, donde se utilizó el primer componente principal como una medida de la complejidad de hábitat. Los resultados muestran que la diversidad taxonómica medida como riqueza basada en el número efectivo de especies, y la diversidad funcional evaluada mediante el índice de riqueza funcional del ensamblaje se correlacionan significativamente con la complejidad del hábitat, aumentando en estados sucesionales más complejos. Esta tendencia fue positiva para frugívoros e insectívoros, y negativa para los granívoros, por lo que el estado sucesional y la complejidad de hábitat pueden estar jugando un papel clave en la estructuración de las comunidades de avifauna. Estos resultados contribuyen al conocimiento de la avifauna y su relación ecológica con el bosque seco en el sur del valle geográfico del río Magdalena.

Esta revisión resume los modelos teóricos de interacciones parásito-hospedero que se encuentran disponibles en la literatura científica. Se revisaron publicaciones internacionales en revistas especializadas sobre parasitología y ecología. Estudios teóricos y prácticos de las interacciones parásitohospedero, en algunos casos, sugieren variaciones evolutivas y ecológicas. La evolución de las interacciones parásitohospedero no se limita a consideraciones coevolutivas, sino que tiene efectos directos sobre caracteres de historia de vida del hospedero, evolución del sexo, comportamiento reproductivo, selección sexual e, incluso, sobre transferencia génica. El estudio de las interacciones parásito-hospedero, como fuerzas modeladoras de la evolución y ecología de los organismos, tiene gran importancia, pues aunque, actualmente, carece de evidencia firme en la práctica en algunas de sus áreas y permanece como difícil de demostrar, es clara de manera teórica.This review summarizes the theoretical models of the parasitehost interactions, available in literature. Articles publishes in international journal specialized in parasitology and ecology were revised. Some theoretical and experimental studies on host-parasite interactions suggest evolutive and ecologic variations. The evolution of host-parasite interactions is not constrained to coevolutive considerations, it has direct effects on host life-history traits, sex evolution, reproductive behavior, sexual selection and even on gene exchange. Even though there is scarcity of evidence in the practice, the study of host-parasite interactions as modelling forces of the evolution and ecology of organisms is a milestone, it is clear in theory.

Effect of pH and salinity on the growth and luminescence of a marine bacterium as an environmental biosensor Resumen El trabajo se desarrolló en el Centro de Estudios de Proteínas de la Facultad de Biología de la Universidad de La Habana en septiembre de 2012 con el objetivo de evaluar el crecimiento y la luminiscencia de la cepa bacteriana CBM-784 en el medio LM a diferentes intervalos de pH y salinidad y determinar los rangos óptimos para sus crecimiento y luminiscencia. Los resultados demuestran que la bacteria luminiscente CBM-784 mostró su mejor crecimiento y luminiscencia a pH= 8,3 y concentraciones de NaCl entre 2,95 y 3,5%. Palabras clave: bacterias; ecología marina; luciferase; luminiscencia bacteriana; medio de cultivo. Abstract The work was developed at the Center for Protein Studies of the Faculty of Biology of the University of Havana in September 2012 with the objective of evaluating the growth and luminescence of the bacterial strain CBM-784 in the LM medium at different intervals of pH and salinity and to determine the optimal ranges for its growth and luminescence. The results demonstrate that the luminescent bacterium CBM-784 showed its best growth and luminescence at pH = 8.3 and NaCl concentrations between 2.95 and 3.5%. Keywords: bacteria; marine ecology; luciferase; bacterial luminescence; culture medium.

Este trabajo se plantea a partir la ecología política y la filosofía de la liberación, con el objetivo de presentar una crítica a los Acuerdos de Cambio Climático en París 2015, dada la poca o nula efectividad de las políticas ambientales que se proponen. Para tal fin, se realizó un ensayo teórico crítico al modelo capitalista vigente y sus conflictos frente al desarrollo sostenible. La metodología utilizada es un ensayo crítico a la contradicción producción-tecnología que el capitalismo plantea a la civilización y a la humanidad. Los resultados indican que existen conflictos entre las políticas ambientales especificadas en dicho Acuerdo de Cambio Climático firmado, en función de su efectividad para la humanidad y la naturaleza, como reproducción ampliada del capital versus vida. The objective of this paper is to start from the political ecology and the philosophy of the liberation, to present a critique to the Agreements of Climatic Change in Paris 2015, given the little or null effectiveness of the environmental policies that are proposed. For this purpose, a critical theoretical essay was carried out on the current capitalist model and its conflicts regarding sustainable development. The methodology used is a critical test to the productiontechnology contradiction that capitalism poses to civilization and humanity. The results indicate that there are conflicts between the environmental policies specified in said signed climate change agreement, based on their effectiveness for humanity and nature, such as an expanded reproduction of capital vs. life.O objetivo deste trabalho é partir da ecologia política e da filosofia da libertação, apresentar uma crítica aos Acordos de Mudança Climática em Paris 2015, dada a pouca ou nula eficácia das políticas ambientais propostas. Para este propósito, um ensaio teórico crítico foi realizado sobre o modelo capitalista atual e seus conflitos em relação ao desenvolvimento sustentável. A metodologia utilizada é um teste crítico para a contradição de tecnologia de produção que o capitalismo representa para a civilização e para a humanidade. Os resultados indicam que existem conflitos entre as políticas ambientais especificadas no referido acordo de mudança climática assinado, com base na sua eficácia para a humanidade e a natureza, como uma reprodução ampliada do capital versusvida.

Estudiamos los musgos que crecen en el valle del río Patía, en el suroccidente colombiano, que comprende zonas de bosque muy seco tropical y bosque seco premontano. En la franja altitudinal comprendida entre 550 y 1500 m s. n. m., encontramos 75 especies de musgos (28 familias y 53 géneros), 34 de ellas acrocárpicas (11 familias y 23 géneros) y 41 pleurocárpicas (17 familias y 30 géneros). Las familias con mayor número de especies son: Bryaceae (10), Pottiaceae (9), Hypnaceae (6), Macromitriaceae (5), Brachytheciaceae (5), Entodontaceae (5), Fissidentaceae (5) y Sematophyllaceae (4). Los géneros mejor representados son Bryum (6), Fissidens (5), Sematophyllum (4) y Entodon (3). El 60 % de las especies se encuentran en un solo tipo de sustrato: suelo (31), corteza (10), materia orgánica (3) y roca (1); el 40 % restante se encuentra en 2 o más sustratos. Bosques, matorrales, taludes y corrientes de agua son los hábitats preferidos por los musgos. Los elementos dominantes son neotropicales extraandinos (35 spp.), cosmopolitas (11), ampliamente tropicales (8) y afroamericanos (5).

El borde norte de la Bogotá, Colombia, es un mosaico de ecosistemas transformados (urbanizaciones, cultivos, pastizales) y ecosistemas naturales (bosques andinos, humedales). En la actualidad, no se conoce cómo dicha heterogeneidad espacial afecta la ecología de las especies silvestres que sobreviven en la ciudad. Se propuso, que la heterogeneidad del paisaje del norte de Bogotá afecta el patrón temporal de actividad de los murciélagos insectívoros y su uso de hábitat. Se esperaba encontrar diferentes patrones de actividad temporal y de uso en sitios con diferentes grados de alteración humana. Se hicieron inspecciones acústicas en sitios con remanentes naturales, sitios con iluminación artificial y cercana a vías para automóviles. Los murciélagos insectívoros se registraron, tanto en áreas con remanentes naturales como intervenidas a lo largo del norte de Bogotá. La actividad de los murciélagos insectívoros cerca a vías importantes aumentó al avanzar la noche, mientras que en sitios sin vías principales fue en las primeras horas de la noche. Esto sugiere, que los murciélagos evitan zonas con alto flujo vehicular y estas vías reducen la disponibilidad de hábitats para los murciélagos insectívoros, al menos, en las primeras horas de la noche. Los sitios con iluminación artificial concentraron mayor actividad de forrajeo que sitios sin ella. La iluminación artificial parece beneficiar a algunos murciélagos, que encuentran allí parches, donde se acumulan sus presas potenciales y, es posible, que dicha iluminación se pueda usar en áreas agrícolas de la ciudad, para el control de poblaciones plaga, con la ayuda de los murciélagos.The northern border of Bogotá, Colombia, is a mosaic of transformed ecosystems (urbanizations, crops, pastures) and natural ecosystems (Andean forests, wetlands). Currently it is not known how such landscape heterogeneity affects the ecology of wild species that survive in the city. It was hypothesized that landscape heterogeneity affects insectivorous bats’ activity and habitat use. It was expected to find different temporal activity patterns and use of sites with different degrees of human intervention. To test these predictions, acoustic monitoring was used at natural ecosystems, sites with artificial illumination and near highways. Insectivorous bats were found both in natural and transformed ecosystems throughout Bogotá’s northern border. Insectivorous bats’ activity near highways increased toward midnight, whereas in areas with no major streets activity was higher few hours after sunset. This suggests that bats avoid areas with high vehicular flow and they reduce habitat availability for bats, at least during the first hours of the night. Sites with artificial illumination had higher foraging activity than places without it. Thus, the presence of artificial illumination seems to benefit some bats that encounter patches where potential prey accumulate, and it is possible that such illumination may be used in agricultural areas of the city to control pests with the bats’ help.

La capacidad de un genotipo particular de producir diferentes fenotipos es conocido como plasticidad fenotípica (PF). Este trabajo evaluó la PF a través de la ontogenia vegetativa en dos especies de la familia Verbenaceae, Lippia alba ampliamente distribuida en habitats favorables y Lippia origanoides ampliamente distribuida en habitats con bajo disponibilidad de recursos. Se evaluó si la PF está correlacionada con distribución ecologica, en respuesta al contenido relativo de agua en el suelo. Se distribuyeron aleatoriamente 40 plantas por tratamiento en tres tratamientos que variaron en la disponibilidad de agua en el suelo, evaluando distintos caracteres morfológicos y de asignación de biomasa, los resultados demuestran una falta de asociación entre PF y distribución ecología. Se observó una mayor PF en L. alba en la etapa temprana de la ontogenia vegetativa, demostrando que la PF a través de la ontogenia vegetativa no se presenta de forma uniforme, la amplia distribución ecológica de esta especie se explica por una mayor PF y asignación de biomasa en los diferentes componentes de la tasa de crecimiento relativa (RGR), ya que estos pueden ser ventajosos para alcanzar una rápida madurez sexual y colonizar nuevos hábitats con condiciones favorables. Contrario a nuestra hipótesis L. origanoides presentó una mayor PF durante la ontogenia vegetativa, los resultados demuestran una posible estrategia de tolerancia al estrés que le permite un bajo desempeño en el RGR en habitats con baja disponibilidad de recursos.

The diet of the South American Tern (Sterna hirundinacea) and its seasonal variation during the 2005 and 2006 non-reproductive seasons in the Uruguayan Atlantic coast was analyzed. Diet was assessed by the analysis of pellets collected in the Rocha lagoon sandbar, a major tern roosting area in Uruguay, aiming to analyze the hypothesis that terns feed mainly on the Argentine Anchovy (Engraulis anchoita) during the wintering period. A total of 844 pellets were collected, 442 in 2005 and 402 in 2006. Diet was composed of fish (88 %), insects (9 %) and crustaceans (3 %). The main fish species consumed was the Argentine Anchovy (77.7 %), followed by Marini's Anchovy (Anchoa marinii) (7.9 %) and the Striped Weakfish (Cynoscion guatucupa) (3.6 %). Insects and crustaceans were the main items in two of the groups of pellets collected during the study period. Despite this temporal variation in the diet, the Argentine Anchovy was the main prey item consumed during both seasons. These results support the hypothesis that South American Terns strongly depend on anchovies as trophic resource.En este trabajo se analizó la dieta del Gaviotín Sudamericano (Sterna hirundinacea) y su variación estacional durante las temporadas no reproductivas de 2005 y 2006 en la costa atlántica uruguaya. La dieta fue estudiada por medio del análisis de bolos colectados en la barra de la laguna de Rocha, una importante zona de descanso para la especie en Uruguay, con el propósito de analizar la hipótesis de que el gaviotín se alimenta principalmente de Anchoíta Argentina (Engraulis anchoita) durante el período de invernada. Un total de 844 bolos fueron colectados, 442 en 2005 y 402 en 2006. La dieta estuvo compuesta por peces (88 %), insectos (9 %) y crustáceos (3 %). La principal presa consumida fue la Anchoíta Argentina (77.7 %), seguida de la Anchoa (Anchoa marinii) (7.9 %) y la Pescadilla de Red (Cynoscion guatucupa) (3.6 %). Los insectos y los crustáceos fueron el ítem principal en dos de las muestras (grupos de bolos) colectadas durante el período de estudio. A pesar de esta variación temporal en la dieta la Anchoíta Argentina fue la presa principal durante las dos temporadas de estudio. Este resultado apoya la hipótesis planteada de que la anchoíta es el principal recurso alimenticio del Gaviotín Sudamericano.

Este texto se propone ahondar en las intersecciones de lo analógico y lo digital, en el encuentro de la baja y la alta tecnología. Tomando consciencia de la materialidad de ambas esferas para pensar desde ahí en objetos, prácticas de dibujo y documentación que puedan aportar otras formulaciones aplicables a métodos de investigación. Entre grafos y bits, diseccionaremos un objeto, el #relatograma, analizaremos su ecología y propondremos una reflexión acerca de su condición digital que genera paisajes por agregación #coreograma, explorando así su capacidad de ser reporte y aporte cognitivo. Between graphs and bits This paper delves into the intersections of analogue and digital cultures, at the points at which low and high technology converge. While acknowledging the materiality of these two spheres, I aim to produce an enquiry into objects, drawings and documentation practices that can contribute to developing new research methods. Among graphs and bits, I will dissect one object: the #relatograma, in order to analyze its ecology and propose a critical reflection on its digital condition and its ability to produce aggregated landscapes, or what I define as #coreograma. I will thereby explore its ability to be share information and produce knowledge. Keywords: Material culture; research methods; digital objects; drawing; #relatograma.
