O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a viabilidade econômica da implantação de dois biodigestores com uso de dejetos animais em área do Assentamento de Trabalhadores Rurais no município de Itaberá - SP, no ano de 2005; um deles para o fornecimento de energia para os domicílios e outro para as atividades produtivas. Foram avaliados os benefícios referentes ao fornecimento de energia elétrica e térmica, a partir do biogás, para cinco domicílios da agrovila do assentamento e para as atividades produtivas, comparativamente aos custos de construção e operação para produção de biogás. Os resultados mostraram a viabilidade econômica da produção de gás em ambos os biodigestores. Foram gerados benefícios no valor de R$ 3.698,00 por ano e R$ 9.080,57 por ano, nos biodigestores para os domicílios e produção, respectivamente; bem como o equivalente a R$ 1.478,28 por ano referentes à produção de biofertilizante. O custo anual do processo é de R$ 1.218,50 em cada biodigestor. O prazo de recuperação do investimento é de 2,5 anos e 11 meses, para a produção de biogás nos domicílios e na produção, respectivamente. Os resultados podem ser utilizados para subsidiar políticas públicas direcionadas ao aproveitamento de biomassa para a produção de energia a baixos custos no segmento da agricultura familiar.The aim of this work was to evaluate the economic feasibility of two biodigestion systems using animal excrements in a rural settlement, in Itaberá - SP, Brazil, in the year of 2005. One of them was constructed to supply biogas for five residences. The other one was constructed to supply biogas for production activities. The generated benefits related to the supply of electric and thermal energy were evaluated, using biogas for five residences and for production activities, in comparison to the annual costs of the biodigestion system construction and operation. The results showed economic feasibility of the biogas production in both cases. It was generated economic benefits of US$ 1,766.84 and US$ 4,338.54 per year for the residential biodigestion system and production activities biodigestion system, respectively, as well as US$ 706.20 per year for biofertilizer production. The costs were estimated in US$ 582.18 per year in each biodigestion system. The pay-back was evaluated in 2.5 years for the residential case and 11 months for the production case, respectively. These results can be used to formulate public policies directed to biomass exploitation to produce low cost energy focused on familiar agriculture.

Na microrregião de Marabá, PA, as pastagens dos agricultores familiares apresentam alta diversidade de árvores e palmeiras que têm papel importante tanto para limitação da degradação da biodiversidade quanto para suas utilidades. O trabalho foi realizado em 26 propriedades, onde 62 pastagens foram visitadas junto com o agricultor. Em cada pastagem foram repertoriadas todas as árvores e palmeiras presentes. Setenta e uma espécies foram encontradas, pertencentes a 32 famílias, das quais nove se destacaram com maior número de espécies: Caesalpiniaceae (11), Mimosaceae (10), Arecaceae (4), Lecythidaceae (4), Bignoniaceae (3), Fabaceae (3), Moraceae (3), Sapotaceae (3) e Sterculiaceae (3); 20 famílias apresentaram uma única espécie. Vinte e quatro espécies (34% do total) pertenceram às três famílias Leguminosae (Fabaceae, Caesalpiniaceae e Mimosaceae). As espécies arborescentes são conservadas principalmente em razão dos usos diversos na propriedade. Das 21 espécies, indicadas para arborização de pastagens de agricultores desta e de outras comunidades, nove espécies são particularmente recomendadas pela resistência ao fogo e para muitos anos de pastagem, pelo fato de ter dois usos ou mais: Caryocar villosum (Aubl.) Pers., Bertholletia excelsa H. B. K., Attalea speciosa Mart. ex Spreng., Oenocarpus distichus Mart., Astrocaryum tucuma Mart., Swartzia flaemingii Raddi, Apeiba tibourbou Aubl., Cenostigma tocantinum Ducke e Spondias mombin L.

El artículo presenta la metodología de diseño de un Biorreactor secuencial SBR requerido en el proceso de tratamiento de aguas residuales. El proceso aeróbico empleado ayuda a la oxigenación del agua para que las bacterias realicen la degradación y procesamiento de material particulado y generen los lodos activados, que es un material que puede ser reutilizado para compostaje en procesos de agricultura orgánica. La medición de PH en el agua ayuda al control de bacterias que se hace mediante el suministro de aire y/o levadura en el agua. El proyecto es desarrollado con la participación de estudiantes de los programas de Ingeniería Ambiental e Ingeniería Industrial, adscritos al semillero de investigación SIDI en el marco del proyecto de iniciación científica PIC-ING-2252, financiada por la Universidad Militar Nueva Granada [UMNG].La metodología de diseño a emplearse en el diseño del SBR es la expuesta por Arzola [1] y Martínez [2], abordando inicialmente la matriz de despliegue de función de calidad (QfD), en el que se registran inicialmente los requerimientos del cliente para poderlos traducir a las especificaciones técnicas de ingeniería: posteriormente se desarrolla el diseño conceptual (caja gris), donde se plantean alternativas que dan cumplimiento a los requerimientos y a las especificaciones técnicas de ingeniería. Seleccionada la alternativa más viable, se procede al modelamiento, cálculo y selección de componentes a ser utilizados en el concepto seleccionado como alternativa de desarrollo. Finalmente, se realiza la ingeniería de detalle mediante modelamiento CAD.

Este estudo se refere à análise da experiência de mulheres que buscam, por meio da Associação de Mulheres do Projeto de Assentamento Nova Lagoa Rica (Ampal), no município de Paracatu (MG), um protagonismo no espaço produtivo da agricultura familiar, e de como a questão de gênero se insere no processo de construção territorial desse assentamento, procurando iluminar algumas dimensões da vida comunitária. A pesquisa foi realizada em 2006 e se apoiou na perspectiva técnico-metodológica da Antropologia, que tem como linhas condutoras a exigência do trabalho de campo e o estudo de caso. Os resultados revelam que as práticas que resultam na assimetria das relações entre homens e mulheres continuam sendo reproduzidas no âmbito da agricultura familiar, o que não contribui para a diminuição das desigualdades no campo. Porém, revelam que há um movimento de recusa por parte das agricultoras que, por meio da ação coletiva, têm dado início a um processo emancipatório que as levam a tomar consciência de suas próprias necessidades. Essa análise ainda permite que sejam tecidas algumas considerações a respeito das políticas públicas de apoio à agricultura familiar com recorte de gênero.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho agronômico do cultivo de alface orgânica sob diferentes níveis de sombreamento, épocas de plantio e preparo do solo, no Acre. Para cada cultivar de alface avaliada, lisa (Baba de Verão) e crespa (Vera), foram instalados quatro experimentos em ambientes com níveis distintos de sombreamento (casa de vegetação, 35%; tela, 50%; latada de maracujazeiro, 52%; e a pleno sol), em duas épocas de plantio (estiagem e chuvosa). Utilizou-se o delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com três métodos de preparo do solo (plantio direto, cultivo mínimo e preparo convencional) e quatro repetições. O cultivo em casa de vegetação proporciona maior massa de matéria fresca e produtividade de alface 'Vera', e desempenho similar ao observado sob tela de sombreamento, com preparo mínimo do solo, para as duas épocas de plantio avaliadas. O cultivo a pleno sol, em plantio direto, proporciona maior massa de matéria fresca e produtividade de alface 'Vera', para o período de estiagem. A massa de matéria seca da parte aérea das cultivares Baba de Verão e Vera é maior em cultivo em casa de vegetação, seguida do cultivo sob tela de sombreamento.

In view of the interest in analyzing volatile compounds by SPME, the following five microfibers were tested, polydimethylsiloxane; polyacrylate; polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene; carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane, and carbowax/divinylbenzene, to select the one which presents the best performance for the adsorption of the volatile compounds present in the headspace of acid lime juice samples. Sample stabilization time variations (30 and 60 minutes) were assessed as well the addition of NaCl to the samples. It was verified that the chromatogram with the most adsorbed volatile compounds was obtained with PDMS/DVB microfiber at 30 minutes and the addition of 0.2 g NaCl.Diante do interesse de analisar substâncias voláteis pelo método de Microextração em Fase Sólida (MEFS), foram testadas cinco microfibras de polidimetilsiloxano - PDMS; poliacrilato - PA; polidimetilsiloxano/divinilbenzeno - PDMS/DVB; carboxen/polidimetilsiloxano CAR/PMDS e carbowax/divinilbenzeno - CW/DVB no presente trabalho, a fim de selecionar a microfibra de melhor desempenho para a adsorção das substâncias voláteis presentes no headspace das amostras de suco de lima ácida (Citrus latifolia, Tanaka) cv. Tahiti, obtida por cultivo biodinâmico. As microfibras selecionadas foram PDMS/DVB e PDMS, por apresentarem cromatogramas com maior número de componentes, onde não houve adição prévia de NaCl. A seguir, as microfibras de PDMS/DVB e PDMS foram avaliadas variando-se o tempo de estabilização da amostra (30 e 60 minutos), bem como a adição de NaCl. Verificou-se que o cromatograma com mais substâncias voláteis adsorvidas foi obtido com o uso da microfibra de PDMS/DVB, no tempo de 30 minutos e com a adição de 0,2 g de NaCl.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi obter, através do uso da programação linear, sistemas de produção agrícola capazes de otimizar os recursos de agricultores familiares das regiões Norte e Noroeste Fluminense. Foram estudados agricultores pertencentes aos grupos A, C e D do PRONAF, dos quais foram obtidas as informações sobre dotação dos recursos e sobre custos e margens brutas. Quando desconsiderados os riscos de preço, o cultivo da goiaba destacou-se como a melhor opção para otimização dos recursos e geração de renda. Quando considerados os riscos de redução nos preços, através do modelo MOTAD, concluiu-se que sistemas de produção envolvendo o cultivo simultâneo de maracujá e goiaba, principalmente, propiciariam redução dos riscos, sem grave comprometimento da renda gerada. Constatou-se, ainda, que os recursos do PRONAF contribuíram para elevar o uso da terra, aumentar o retorno das atividades e para a contratação de trabalhadores adicionais.The objective of this work was to find systems of agricultural production that optimize the resources of familiar farmers of the North and northwest regions of the Rio de Janeiro, using the linear programming method. Farmers of the PRONAF groups (A, C and D) were interviewed, what allowed obtaining the information about resources endowment, production costs and gross margins. When the price risks were not included in the model, the guava was the best choice for the optimization of resources and income generation. When considered the price risks, through the MOTAD model, it was concluded that production systems involving the simultaneous culture of passion fruit and guava, mainly, can reduce the risks, without causing a great loss of the income. It was evidenced, besides, that the PRONAF resources contributed to raise the use of the land, to increase the return of the activities and for the rural employment.

O cultivo doméstico de hortaliças e hortas comunitárias ganhou importância como uma política alternativa de redução da pobreza e melhoria das condições alimentares das famílias no Brasil desde o final do século passado. As experiências brasileiras foram relatadas em diferentes tipos de publicações científicas, mas até o momento, esses resultados não foram avaliados. Assim sendo, publicações científicas brasileiras sobre o tema foram buscadas nas páginas www.google.com.br, www.scielo.com.br, www.periodicos.capes.gov.br e na plataforma Lattes do CNPq para essa avaliação. Os resultados mostraram que a maioria das publicações estavam disponíveis gratuitamente. O número de publicações aumentou entre 1996 e 2009 e a maioria delas foi publicada em Encontros e Congressos. O cultivo de hortaliças contribuiu para aumentar o bem-estar da população. No entanto, diversas dificuldades foram relatadas, sendo as mais importantes a falta de organização social e a falta de acesso a assistência técnica, capital, terra e água. Até o momento, a maioria desses projetos foi de curta duração (menos de três anos). Assim sendo, é necessário que pesquisas multidisciplinares e de longo prazo sejam conduzidas a fim de que sejam melhor avaliados e compreendidos os benefícios e dificuldades dos projetos e as formas encontradas para superar essas dificuldades.Growing vegetables in backyards and in community gardens gained importance as an alternative policy for the reduction of poverty and the increasing of household food intake since the final years of the late century in Brazil. The Brazilian experiences have been reported in different scientific publications but until now, there has not been an attempt to evaluate those results. For that purpose, Brazilian scientific publications were sought in the sites www.google.com.br, www.scielo.com.br, www.periodicos.capes.gov.br and in the Lattes platform from CNPq. The results showed that the majority of publications were available to download free. The number of publications increased between 1996 and 2009 and most of them were published in Congresses and Meetings. Vegetable cultivation contributed to increase of the welfare of population. Nonetheless, several difficulties were reported: chiefly among these, the lack of social organization, lack of access to technical assistance, capital, land and water. Until now, the majority of these projects have been of short duration (less than three years); therefore it is necessary to carry out long term researches in order to evaluate strategies for overcoming these difficulties.

With the objective to stimulate the use of irrigation and the electric energy fee reduction during night time program granted by the 2004 Federal law, the Government of the state of Paraná, Brazil launched the Night Irrigation Program - NPI. Beyond this discount, the farmer that adheres to NPI will get additional benefits, as completion of the electric grid without cost, subsidized financing of equipment, technical assistance, support with environmental farm compliance, and the possibility of replacing the entire pump energy matrix. As part of the NPI strategy of action, installation of learning centers for irrigation technology was planned in agricultural schools, thus contributing both to improve technical professional training in agriculture, and for the dissemination of knowledge in irrigated agriculture, in order to increase agricultural productivity.Com o objetivo de estimular o uso da irrigação e utilizando-se de descontos na tarifa de energia elétrica concedidos por lei federal, em 2004, o Governo do Paraná lançou o Programa de Irrigação Noturna - NPI. Além de descontos, o agricultor que aderir ao NPI contará com outros benefícios, como complementação da rede elétrica sem custo, financiamento subsidiado de equipamentos, assistência técnica oficial, facilitação quanto à adequação ambiental da propriedade, possibilidade de substituição da matriz energética do conjunto moto bomba. Como parte da estratégia de ação do NPI, previu-se a instalação de centros irradiadores da tecnologia da irrigação em vários colégios agrícolas, contribuindo, desta forma, tanto para a melhoria na formação do profissional técnico em agropecuária quanto para a disseminação dos conhecimentos em agricultura irrigada, visando ao aumento da produtividade agrícola.

O artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa sobre a sustentabilidade dos agricultores extrativistas da região da Encosta Atlântica do Rio Grande do Sul. O extrativismo em questão é de uma espécie conhecida popularmente como samambaia-preta [Rumohra adiantiformis (G.Forest.) Ching]. Estima-se que 3 mil famílias da região têm nesta atividade, não-regulamentada por lei, sua principal fonte de renda. O grau de sustentabilidade dos agricultores foi estimado através da adoção de informações relativas às dimensões ambiental, social e econômica e aos critérios de produtividade, estabilidade, equidade, resiliência e autonomia. A análise focou-se na comparação entre os Índices Relativos das Dimensões (IRD), dos Critérios (IRC) e de Sustentabilidade (IRS) de cada tipo de sistema de produção. Os resultados apontaram para a existência de 4 tipos de sistemas de produção, sendo 3 deles abrangidos nessa pesquisa. Os sistemas de produção dos tipos 1 e 2 se caracterizam pela baixa disponibilidade de meios de produção e por uma grande dependência de rendas não-agrícolas e do extrativismo. O sistema de produção do tipo 3 é caracterizado pela prática de agricultura de subsistência e de atividades agrícolas de cunho comercial, sem depender muito da prática extrativista. Os indicadores de sustentabilidade apontaram que o sistema de produção do tipo 3 se mostrou o mais sustentável, seguido pelo tipo 2 e, por último, pelo tipo 1.This article reports the results of a research about the sustainability of extractive farmers in the Atlantic slopes of Rio Grande do Sul. The extractive economy at issue is related to a species usually known as leather fern (Rumohra adiantiformis (G.Forest.) Ching). It is estimated that 3,000 families in the region perform this non-regulated activity, which is their only source of income. The sustainability degree of farmers was calculated from information related to environmental, social and economic dimensions, and to productivity, stability, equity, resilience, and autonomy criteria. The analysis focused on the comparison among the Indexes Related to Dimension (IRD), Criteria (IRC) and Sustainability (IRS) of each kind of production system. The results pointed to the existence of four kinds of production systems, and three of them were included in this research. The sustainability indexes showed that the production system type 3 was the most sustainable, followed by type 2 and, finally, type 1.
