------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This descriptive study is one of the outcomes of a research and extension project that involved a partnership between teachers and students at a higher education institution and a group of family farmers, owners of a small agribusiness in the state of Goiás. The objective was to implement best practices for production of appropriately healthy food products marketed to the National School Meals Program. The diagnosis of the labor process developed by the farmers was made in loco and a training program in Best Agricultural Practices and Best Manufacturing Practices was proposed. The training was conducted during 13 on-site meetings, totaling 100 h with different methodological approaches. Research on shelf life was also conducted and nutritional labels were created for the manufactured products. The microbiological analyses performed met the microbiological standards of the National Health Surveillance Agency. The farmers showed enormous interest in activities based on collective construction. The expiration date of the sixteen analyzed products and their respective labels were defined. The activity fulfilled the objectives proposed, such as technical contribution and training in best practices for a group with the potential to comply with the sanitary requirements necessary when marketing food from family farms for school meals.</text>

As of 2009, especially after the enactment of Law No. 11.947/2009, the managers of the National School Meal Program-PNAE must use at least 30% of the total funds received from the Federal Government, for purchasing food produced by agricultural and rural family entrepreneurs. The purchase of food must be subject to a public call for tenders, according to Law No. 8.666/1993, that must include specifications on the expected goods or services. The aim of this study was to verify PNAE’s managers’ compliance with the current laws on the subject, when preparing the public calls for tenders. The sample consisted of 201 public calls for tenders in the period between January and July 2013, electronically obtained between June and July 2013. The results indicated non-compliance in all of the surveyed areas, lacking basic information, related to the classification of foods, to the rural family entrepreneurs. It was concluded that most managers consider neither the legislation in force for the PNAE nor the issue of food safety and quality, as a result of problems in the design of the public calls for tenders; it was also concluded that, at least in this research, the participation of nutritionists was not identified, although 95% of the implementers have this professionals as head coaches.</text>

<text>Abstract Background Earth Observation ‘EO’ remote sensing technology development enables original insights into vegetation function and health at ever finer temporal, spectral and spatial resolution. Research sites equipped with monitoring infrastructure such as flux towers operate at a key bridging scale between satellite platform measurements and on-the-ground leaf-level processes. Results This paper presents the technical details of the design and operation of a proximal observation system ‘THEMS’ that generates unattended long-term high quality thermal and hyperspectral images of a forest canopy on a short (sub-daily) timescale. The primary purpose of the system is to measure canopy temperature, spectral reflectance and radiance coincident with a highly instrumented flux tower site for benchmarking purposes. Basic system capability is demonstrated through low level data product descriptions of the high-resolution multi-angular imagery and ancillary data streams. The system has been successfully operational for more than 2 years with little to no intervention. Conclusions These data can then be used to derive remotely sensed proxies of canopy and ecosystem function to study temporal forest dynamics over a wide range of wavelengths, spatial scales (individual trees to canopy), and temporal scales (minutes to multiple years). The multi-purpose system is intended to provide unprecedented spatio-temporal ecophysiological insight and to underpin upscaling of remotely sensed dynamic ecosystem water, CO2, and energy exchange processes.</text>

Os resultados demonstraram a necessidade de treinamento dos agricultores familiares em boas práticas de fabricação, a fim de garantir produtos de qualidade e seguros.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Food Acquisition Program (PAA — Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos) has an option in which family farmers can sell their produced crops to the government and directly deliver it to an assistance network, which aids people in need of food and nutrition. In 2012, representatives of the municipality of Cardoso Moreira attended the PAA meeting that addressed the changes in sensory characteristics of jams provided by some producers. This study aimed to provide a diagnosis of the sanitary conditions of jam production sites in Cardoso Moreira. The methods involved the application of a questionnaire on basic knowledge of food safety and foodborne illnesses and a checklist to evaluate the processing plants. In total, 11 producers were evaluated. Two producers showed > 76% compliance and were included in group 1, as classified by (ANVISA). Seven producers showed 51%-75% compliance and were included in group 2. Two producers showed < 50% compliance results and poor conditions for jam production and were included in group 3. The results demonstrated the need for training of farmers about good manufacturing practices to ensure product quality and safety.</text>

Deste modo, as três espécies possuem condições semelhantes de sobrevivência, independentemente da concentração de nutrientes da solução nutritiva, com o maku proporcionando a maior produção de MS planta-1.The aim of this work was to evaluate the survival and dry matter production during the seedling culture phase of three forage species: Axonopus catharinensis, forage peanut (Arachis pintoi), and greater lotus (Lotus uliginosus cv. Maku), in a floating hydroponic system using biofertilizer or soluble fertilizer. The experimental design adopted was randomized blocks in a 3 x 2 factorial scheme, with three forage species and two fertilizers. There was no difference between species with regard to survival (p = 0.225), regardless of the fertilizer used (p = 0.92). However, when dry matter production was considered, Maku (P=0,001) showed greater weight (47.18 g), while there was no difference (p = 0.227) in weight between Arachis pintoi (19.90 g) and Axonopus catharinensis (16.81 g) or between fertilizers (p = 0.559). Thus, all three forage species have similar survival conditions, regardless of nutrient concentration of the fertilizer, and Maku had greater dry matter production.</text>
