The goal of this paper is to present a proof that for the logistic map the period-3 begins at . The third-iterate map is the key for understanding the birth of the period-3 cycle. Any point in a period-3 cycle repeats every three iterates by definition. Such points satisfy the condition ,and they are therefore fixed points of the third-iterate map. This fact and the so called tangent bifurcation for the logistic map, as well as the fixed points definition, are used for finding the value. The algebraic treatment utilizes some properties of symmetric polynomials in three variables. For the purposes of this paper, the bifurcation diagram for the logistic map is also presented, as well as a program in Mathematica for its construction.

Um experimento foi desenvolvido em ambiente telado do Departamento de Solos e Engenharia Rural da Universidade Federal da Paraíba, Areia, PB, no período de janeiro a abril de 2010. O substrato constou de material de um Neossolo Quartzarênico não salino, coletado na camada de 0-20 cm. Os tratamentos foram dispostos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 5 x 2, referente aos níveis de salinidade da água de irrigação de 0,5; 1,0; 2,0; 3,0 e 4,0 dS m-1, no solo sem e com biofertilizante comum, aplicado ao solo uma única vez, após diluição em água, na proporção de 1:1, um dia antes da semeadura, em volume correspondente a 10% do volume do substrato. Aos 86 dias após a emergência das plântulas normais avaliaram-se o crescimento em altura e o comprimento da raiz, diâmetro do caule e da raiz, número de folhas e a massa seca das raízes e parte aérea das plantas. O conteúdo salino da água de irrigação elevou a condição salina do substrato ao ponto de comprometer o crescimento em altura e diâmetro do caule, número de folhas, diâmetro e comprimento da raiz principal, massa seca das raízes e parte aérea (folhas + caule) do nim mas com declínios menos pronunciados nos tratamentos com biofertilizante bovino.An experiment was carried out in greenhouse during the period January to April 2010, at Center of Agricultural Sciences of the Federal University of Paraiba, in Areia, Paraiba State, Brazil, in order to evaluate the effects of saline water and bovine biofertilizer on the seedling growth of Indian neem. The substrate was material of a non-saline soil collected in depth of 0-20 cm. The treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design using a 5 x 2 factorial, referring to salinity levels of irrigation water of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 dS m-1, with and without bovine biofertilizer applied to the soil only once after dilution with water (1:1), a day before sowing, in volume corresponding to 10% of the substrate. At 86 days after emergence of seedlings the plant growth in height and principal root length, diameter of stem and root, leaf number and dry mass of roots and shoots of plants were evaluated. The salinity of irrigation water increased the salinity levels in the substrate inhibiting the growth in height, stem diameter, leaf emission by plants, diameter and length of principal root and the dry matter production of roots and aerial parts (leaves + stem) of neem, but with less pronounced decrease in plants under the treatments with bovine biofertilizer.

El Parque Nacional Cerros de Amotape Área Natural Protegida, ecosistema con alto valor natural con gran diversidad biológica sufre una fuerte presión, por el cambio climático, actividades antropogénicas, afectando sus áreas de cobertura vegetal (CV). Evaluar su evolución en el Parque Nacional Cerros de Amotape a través del Índice de Vegetación de Diferencia Normalizada (NDVI). Aplicando técnicas de teledetección, mediante análisis multitemporal: 2000-2014, meses marzo a mayo, contrastando temperatura y precipitación. Clasificando valores NDVI: CV tipo 01, suelo sin CV o cuerpos de agua; CV tipo 02, suelo con CV mixta entre suelo desnudo, hierbas o arbustos; CV tipo 03, suelo con vegetación poco densa y la CV tipo 04 suelo con CV densa, suelos cubiertos por árboles y arbustos frondosos y vigorosos; con valores NDVI elevados, con tendencia negativa en su extensión y sustituida por coberturas con NDVI bajos, relacionados directamente con la ausencia precipitaciones pluviales y altas temperaturas, siendo más crítica por la extracción forestal, afectando su capacidad de resiliencia. Incrementándose la cobertura tipo 01, 02, 03, afectada por el pastoreo y agricultura, esta información es elemental, para la adecuada toma de decisiones en la protección y conservación del Parque Nacional.

No obstante los cambios acaecidos en la últimas dos décadas y las recurrentes crisis que afectan al globo desde el inicio de este siglo (de seguridad, alimentaria, energética y -finalmente- financiera) empiezan a marcar un rumbo diferente y con él resurgen con fuerza las reuniones internacionales y los estudios sobre el valor de la cooperación internacional, su gestión, potencialidades y desafíos. Aparecen en consecuencia nuevos argumentos para sostener el papel fundamental que juega la cooperación internacional en nuestros días y sus reflejos en la realidad: de la tradicional cooperación Norte-Sur hemos pasado a formas de cooperación Sur-Sur y triangular; del protagonismo excluyente de los Estados hemos avanzado en la inclusión de nuevos actores, hoy fundamentales, como lo son el sector privado y a la sociedad civil organizada; de formas de gestión lineales hemos pasado al debate plural y abierto. Llegado este punto debo decir que es particularmente alentador revisar el origen de los trabajos que integran este dossier.

Introduction: Mentha spicata, commonly known as spearmint, is the most common and popular cultivated mint, and is used in food, perfumes and pharmaceutical products. Objective: To determine the yield, composition and properties of essential oil from M. spicata grown in Santiago del Estero, Argentina. Methods: We used steam distillation, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry to determine chemical composition, antioxidant activity and acetylcholinesterase inhibition. Results: Essential oil yield ranged from 0.8 to 1.3 mL·100 g-1 DM. The main essential components were carvone (60,72-68,09%), limonene (14,23-16,41%), α-pinene (0,12-3,14%), β-myrcene (0,35-2,33%), 1,8-cineole (1,69-2,73%), cis-dihydrocarvone (1,82-2,31%), trans-craveol (1,09-1,19%), β-bourbonene (2,44-3,17%) and β-Caryophyllene (1,42-1,82%). The oil had high antioxidant activity, with IC50 values among 7,5-12,06 µg/mL (DPPH method) and 26,94-38,14 µg/mL (β-carotene/linoleic acid method). It had good inhibition of acetylcholisterenase, with enzyme inhibition zones of 0,4-0,9 cm. Conclusion: The yield, quality and properties of the essential oil from M. spicata grown in Santiago del Estero meet market requirements.

Se estudió la ecología trófica de la Garza blanca (Ardea alba) mediante el análisis del contenido estomacal de 38 individuos capturados entre 1990 y 1993 en un humedal del río Paraná, Argentina. El espectro trófico resultó compuesto por 33 entidades taxonómicas, siendo los peces el ítem - presa predominante. El mayor porcentaje de las presas (40%) correspondió al intervalo de clase 21-30mm. La especie no mostró selectividad dietaria y utilizó con mayor frecuencia las unidades ambientales de Vegetación acuática y Aguas abiertas. La predominancia de los peces en la dieta coincidió con lo informado en otros estudios, aunque las características del espectro trófico la señalaron como una especie oportunista. Sólo se encontraron diferencias en el tamaño de las presas al comparar la ecología trófica de la especie con la congenérica y simpátrica Ardea cocoi. Los entes cada día son más conscientes del impacto causado por las actividades por ellos desarrolladas: productoras o prestadoras de servicios, sobre el medioambiente y la protección medioambiental no pasa a ser un dilema frente al desarrollo, sino un elemento a considerar.Las empresas deben asumir un compromiso de prevención, y en muchos casos revertir la contaminación y degradación ambiental causadas por sus actividades. Surge así un concepto de responsabilidad medioambiental, donde los entes son los encargados de asegurar un desarrollo sustentable, obligándose a “adoptar estrategias comerciales y efectuar actividades que cumplan con las necesidades de la empresa y de sus accionistas en el presente, mientras se protegen y se refuerzan los recursos humanos y naturales que serán necesarios en el futuro”.El desarrollo sustentable propone compatibilizar tres dimensiones del desarrollo: el económico, el social y el ambiental para alcanzar un estado de gobernabilidad que suministre bienestar y niveles de calidad de vida acordes con las aspiraciones ciudadanas. Este equilibrio rara vez se logra, aún en países altamente desarrollados; la dificultad está presente en llegar a encontrar experiencias genuinas que nos indiquen el camino por seguir.La incorporación de los efectos medioambientales en los entes, supone la existencia de un sistema de información que permita captarlos, para su posterior registración; caso contrario, se estaría midiendo de forma no adecuada la rentabilidad de la actividad empresaria. Este escenario, exige un análisis de las actividades: industriales, comerciales o de prestación de servicios realizadas y una identificación del impacto ambiental en los informes que brinde el sistema contable, caso contrario la información contable no cumpliría con todos los requisitos, al carecer de “confiabiabilidad”, y para que ese informe contable sea confiable debe reunir entre otros requisitos los de “aproximación a la realidad”, “esencialidad, “integridad”, indicados en el Marco Conceptual – Resolución Técnica 16 FACPCE, en Argentina.La información contable a ser presentada a terceros cumple un rol importante ante los distintos usuarios, que fue cambiando en los últimos tiempos. Hasta la década de los 70, en el siglo XX, la función de los estados contables era demostrar que los recursos del ente habían sido empleados adecuadamente, es decir exigía ese enfoque de la función administrativa, el uso eficiente y rentable de los recursos y su protección con respecto a los factores del contexto económico.Hemos destacado los cambios verificados por la doctrina contable del término activo, modificaciones consideradas luego por las normas contables, y es donde nos preguntamos si no habrá llegado el momento de investigar la posibilidad de tomar el “recurso natural” en el marco de la contabilidad patrimonial con su aporte positivo al patrimonio del ente y no exclusivamente a aquél como generador de quebrantos al comprobarse su agotamiento o reducción.Fallos como el “Mendoza” que imponen al Estado Nacional argentino, al de la Provincia de Buenos Aires y de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires un urgente saneamiento del Riachuelo, muestran una tendencia al reclamo indemnizatorio de millones de víctimas de tragedias ambientales previsibles, darán lugar a estudios para una tecnología limpia, innovaciones que sean eficientes y no perjudiquen al medio ambiente. No es la naturaleza la que está en peligro, en mayor medida el peligro está orientado hacia la subsistencia del hombre y su sistema de vida y la conservación de este capital natural implicará inexorablemente el reconocimiento de un activo.

Se buscó develar las Significaciones Imaginarias sobre alimentación que tienen los niños y niñas, que generan hábitos y prácticas alimentarias determinantes de su Seguridad Alimentaria. Este estudio de carácter cualitativo se apoyó en la entrevista estructurada y el taller iconográfico, desarrollados con estudiantes de tercer grado de un colegio distrital, quienes expresan que la alimentación que reciben en sus casas es buena, rica y saludable, aunque en realidad dicha alimentación esté lejos de ser equilibrada, nutritiva y saludable; entre las preferencias de los niños se encuentran alimentos como el helado, perro caliente, pizza y papas de paquete; los de mayor consumo en la casa son los huevos y el arroz. El desarrollo de los negocios en un actual mundo globalizado y el avance de las tecnologías hace resaltar la necesidad profesional de utilizar un modelo de control integral, que posibilite evaluar todos los aspectos vinculados al Proceso de Administración de las operaciones y recursos de los entes públicos y privados. El modelo de cobertura global es la auditoría integral, la que permite dentro del marco de la seguridad razonable de la auditoría, la detección de desvíos de significación en las características sujetas a control, correspondientes a la operatoria global de una Organización. Es necesario la definición de un enfoque estructurado, a partir de los procedimientos elaborados con base en las normas de auditoría generalmente aceptadas y ampliadas para cumplir con los tipos de auditoría que conforman la auditoría integral o total. Para ello es imprescindible la redefinición de un modelo de auditoría financiera moderno, como pilar de la auditoría integral y la redefinición del perfil del auditor moderno en la perspectiva de esta última, el que debe comprender aspectos específicos relacionados con la auditoría de gestión y económico-social, en la amplia temática vinculada con la economía, eficiencia, eficacia, ética, equidad y ecología, con el fin de lograr un modelo estructurado con base sistémica.

Desde nuestra experiencia en Ecología Humana y Bio Antropología, hemos investigado las consecuencias del cambio ambiental sobre la brecha de género y la salud sexual y reproductiva en las diferentes etapas del ciclo vital, analizando poblaciones que ocupan muy diferentes tipos de socio-ecosistemas. En 2015, coincidiendo con el lanzamiento desde UN del Programa 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible, iniciamos una nueva investigación “Mujeres, Diversidad Biocultural y Sostenibilidad (2016-2020)”, con tres objetivos principales: Identificar las dimensiones e indicadores de género, salud y de otros determinantes de la sostenibilidad; trabajar desde la Universidad, con asociaciones científicas y ONGD; proporcionar una herramienta virtual, (Museo virtual de Ecología Humana), como un recurso educativo abierto a colaboraciones externas. Tres años después, reflexionamos aquí sobre los primeros resultados obtenidos, con especial referencia al Museo virtual de Ecología Humana.
