Fernández Description An account of the resource Abstract. Two fossil sections (Late Quaternary), and a group of modern samples analyzed through pollen and non-pollen palynomorphs, enabled the reconstruction of the palaeoclimatic and palaeoenvironmental conditions of the lower basin of the Quequén Salado River (Buenos Aires Province). The study was complemented with analysis of sedimentology, malacofauna, ostracods, diatoms, and mammal and archaeological remains. For the Late Pleistocene, the scarce presence of microfossils, associated with eolian palaeoenvironments, allowed inferring arid/extremely arid climate conditions. In the Pleistocene/Holocene boundary, evidence of a pedogenetic event suggests a brief lapse of climatic stability. Pollen indicates the development of a halophyte steppe, which remained in the area until the Middle Holocene. During the Early Holocene (8,173 cal. yr B.P.) the sedimentology, malacofauna and microfossils evidenced a sea level rise. This event ended with the establishment of a brackish lacustrine body towards the Middle Holocene. After that, a pulse characterized by high humidity levels, indicate the replacement of the halophyte steppe by a gramineous steppe. Following that pulse during the 6,799 cal. yr BP‑ 5,603 cal. yr BP lapse, the microfossils showed considerable variability, thus reflecting an alternation between relatively more humid and dry pulses. Evidence indicates that during the Late Holocene (~ 1,000 yr. BP) modern ecosystems began to settle in the lower basin of the Quequén Salado River. Canelas-Urey Description An account of the resource Objetivo: proporcionar datos de la adaptación del Aedes aegypti en altitudes superiores a los de su hábitat natural en el departamento de Cochabamba. Métodos: la notificación así como la vigilancia entomológica, permitieron caracterizar taxonómicamente y geográficamente la infestación por Aedes aegypti, en municipios del eje metropolitano del departamento de Cochabamba y observar el cambio de escenario epidemiológico producido. La utilización de materiales de investigación entomológica, además del estudio integral permitió identificar factores predisponentes para la colonización del vector.  Resultados: Se encontró la presencia del vector en diferentes altitudes geográficas y en varios municipios del departamento de Cochabamba, en los que anteriormente no se encontraba. Se observó una variación de temperatura inusitada y lluvia en el mes de enero de 2016, que proporcionó climáticas favorables para la proliferación de Aedes aegypti y otros vectores. Se identificó una mayor infestación en la zona sur de la ciudad de Cochabamba, además de ser el área que ha presentado más factores de riesgo como son la presencia de criaderos artificiales comunes y no comunes, con presencia incalculable de desechos inservibles intradomiciliarios. Conclusiones: Observar la presencia del vector en municipios grandes como Cercado, denota Riesgo de gran magnitud para la población por lo que representa un ESPII-ESPIN. El cambio climático como uno de los factores para la variación de los diversos nichos ecológicos, ha permitido que los Valles hayan brindado condiciones propicias para la colonización del Aedes aegypti y que este se adapte a altitudes mayores a 2 200 m s.n.m. El estudio concluye que las historias tienen un enfoque internacional y no derivan a las necesidades locales de temas relacionados con la crisis climática. Ejemplos de casos de estudio en la provincia de Alicante (España) Creator An entity primarily responsible for making the resource Álvaro Francisco Morote Seguido Description An account of the resource Esta investigación tiene el objetivo de exponer una experiencia didáctica sobre la interpretación de los riesgos naturales y el cambio climático a partir de la propuesta de diferentes estudios de caso de la provincia de Alicante (España). Dicha propuesta se lleva a cabo en la asignatura de Cambio Climático y Riesgo en el Mediterráneo del Máster en Planificación y Gestión de Riesgos Naturales (Universidad de Alicante). Metodológicamente se han expuesto diferentes ejemplos de análisis sobre las temáticas de: 1) Las sequías; 2) La explotación y sangrado de cursos fluviales; 3) Tendencias climáticas; y 4) Medidas de adaptación al cambio climático. Con estos ejemplos se pretende que los discentes sepan diferenciar e interpretar, para el área de estudio, las causas y consecuencias provocadas por los riesgos naturales y el cambio climático (concretamente sequías e inundaciones) y la adaptación del ser humano a estos problemas socio-ambientales. Como conclusión cabe poner de manifiesto que estos ejemplos ayudan al discente a comprender la complejidad del territorio, desvinculando de esta manera los estereotipos sobre estos problemas y dando una mayor importancia a la influencia de la acción del ser humano en el incremento del riesgo.
