Satisfacer la normatividad para suministro de agua apta para consumo humano es uno de los principales objetivos de las plantas potabilizadoras. Lo anterior, dada la contaminación de las fuentes de abastecimiento y a los cambios climáticos que ponen en riesgo los componentes del sistema en general. Este artículo analiza la turbidez como parámetro indicador del proceso de potabilización en una planta municipal, mediante la determinación del nivel de correlación que presenta la turbidez con otros parámetros y de acuerdo con los registros históricos entre los años 2011 y 2015. Así, mediante la toma de muestras y pruebas al afluente y efluente que se realiza periódicamente en la planta para medir la calidad del agua entregada a la comunidad, se determinan los niveles de los parámetros de calidad del agua y también se calculan los coeficientes de correlación lineal de Pearson entre estos. Concluyendo, que la turbidez presenta una correlación lineal positiva significativa con coliformes fecales (r = 0,70), coliformes totales (r = 0,40) y color aparente (r = 0,40). Adicionalmente, la turbiedad y coliformes fecales muestran las mejores correlaciones, presentando dos modelos de regresión lineal para el pronóstico de cada variable.

As Zonas Costeiras são responsáveis por uma ampla gama de funções ecológicas, mas também são objetos de preocupação por sua integridade e equilíbrio ambiental devido aos seus diferentes usos e às pressões sofridas. Tal cenário soma-se à não inclusão da percepção ambiental da população como estratégia de gestão e como modo de ampliar a participação da sociedade nesse processo, entendendo-se que, por sua vez, esta percepção pode ser influenciada pela classe etária e pelo tipo de relacionamento que as pessoas mantêm com o local. Este estudo objetiva avaliar diferenças nas percepções do ambiente marinho de indivíduos de classes etárias variadas (07 a 16 anos; 17 a 34 anos; 35 a 50 anos e maiores que 50 anos), considerando os indicadores: importância do local, senso de pertencimento, senso de responsabilidade e interesse, na região da Baía do Araçá, São Sebastião, São Paulo, Brasil. Com relação à importância do Araçá, os indivíduos mais jovens mostram-se ligados preferencialmente ao lazer que a baía proporciona e à pesca familiar. Já para os mais velhos, a pesca é tema de maior importância. Quanto ao senso de pertencimento, há uma diferença que depende parcialmente da classe etária, mas a maioria dos indivíduos entrevistados revela gostar de morar ali e usa a baía de diferentes formas. Os menores sensos de responsabilidades foram observados nos indivíduos de 17 a 34 anos, ao contrário da classe etária mais jovem. O distanciamento em relação à Baía do Araçá foi geralmente observado em indivíduos que não utilizam a baía de nenhuma forma ou não a conhecem muito bem, apesar de morarem ali desde o nascimento, independente da classe etária. Assim, constata-se que a percepção e o envolvimento com o local estão mais relacionados com o conhecimento, o uso e a criação de uma identidade com a região do que com a idade.

El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los cambios de los periodos de crecimiento para tres pastos tropicales, bajo los efectos del cambio climático en Cuba. Se utilizó información de un registro de 30 años (línea base 1961-1990) de temperatura y precipitación medias mensuales, de la base de datos del Centro de Clima -perteneciente al Instituto de Meteorología de Cuba-, correspondiente a 61 estaciones meteorológicas. La evapotranspiración de referencia se calculó por la fórmula de Penman Monteith, modificada por la FAO y ajustada a las condiciones climáticas locales. Se realizó un análisis de las deficiencias hídricas, de las fechas de inicio y fin del periodo de crecimiento, y del índice de aridez. Para el análisis de los climas futuros, se usaron salidas diarias del Modelo de Circulación General Echan4, con el forzamiento de los escenarios de emisiones A2 y B2. El periodo de crecimiento, para 2071-2099, comenzará con un retraso de entre 12 y 15 decenas para Cynodon nlemfuensis Vanderyst y Cenchrus purpureus (Schumach.) Morrone. En contraste, se prevé un adelanto de la fecha de finalización del periodo entre la segunda y la tercera decenas de noviembre para C. nlemfuensis y C. purpureus, y en la primera decena para Megathyrsus maximus (Jacq.) B.K. Simon & S.W.L. Jacobs. Se comprobó que el clima de Cuba sufrirá un fuerte proceso de aridización, y llegará a clasificarse como subhúmedo seco. Se concluye que el comportamiento de las precipitaciones y la evapotranspiración del cultivo tiene un impacto marcado en la duración del periodo de crecimiento de las especies de pastos en estudio, con una reducción de este, lo que se evidenciará en el retraso de las fechas de inicio y el adelanto de las de culminación. Ello tendría amplia repercusión en la duración de las fases fenológicas, los componentes del rendimiento y la calidad nutricional del cultivo, así como en la aparición de plagas y enfermedades.

A espécie Ecdytolopha aurantiana (Lima, 1927) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) trata-se de praga potencial para a cultura dos citros no Estado de Santa Catarina. Sua ocorrência já foi observada em alguns municípios da região oeste catarinense, caso de Chapecó, Palmitos e Pinhalzinho, atacando praticamente todas as variedades de laranja. A praga é conhecida como bicho-furão porque as lagartinhas, recém-emergidas do ovo, furam os frutos e aí se desenvolvem, causando queda prematura e apodrecimento deles. Altas infestações podem causar até 50% de perdas de frutos. Recentemente foi desenvolvido um método de monitoramento da praga, através do uso de armadilhas de feromônios, que permite tomar uma decisão mais racional no caso de controle químico, ou seja, apenas é recomendado pulverizar quando forem capturados seis ou mais machos/armadilha/semana. Ainda como medida de controle, recomenda-se apanhar os frutos atacados das árvores e do chão e enterrá-los para que não haja reinfestação pelos adultos.

A lagarta de Citheronia brissotii brissotii (Boisduval) (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) alimenta-se de folhas de erva-mate (Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil. - Aqüifoliaceae). Para conhecer aspectos da biologia e morfologia desta espécie foi desenvolvida uma metodologia de criação no Laboratório de Fitossanidade da Epagri/Cepaf, em Chapecó, SC. Os cinco ínstares larvais deste inseto apresentaram razão média de crescimento de 1,5398 e o seu ciclo biológico completou-se em períodos de 92 a 236 dias. A metodologia utilizada possibilitou descrever a morfologia dos imaturos e dos adultos desta espécie.
