Despite the advancements made in online psychometric assessment implementation, the authors of this commentary reflected on their own experiences in the context of the psychology profession in South Africa, where psychology professionals had been faced with the dilemma of halting, postponing or adapting assessments for remote implementation. Remote implementation had many challenges, notably shifting the logistics, financial burden and accountability onto the test-taker. In addition, when implementing remote testing, considerations of supervised and unsupervised testing need to be considered in terms of flexibility, control, test-taker comfort, standardisation, costs, ethical concerns and crisis management. Therefore, it is necessary to measure the readiness of countries for I4.0 in order to guide policies in defining incentives to promote I4.0 and unlock its potential in the pandemic era. In this context, the paper aims to understand the readiness and responsiveness of the Italian Regions with respect to I4.0 concepts prior to the pandemic and identify best practices that are supporting companies in I4.0 adoption, with a focus on those incentivizing sustainable practices. An assessment framework before the pandemic is provided based on two dimensions: the readiness of firms to invest in I4.0 and favourable structural conditions. The assessment shows a group of alert regions as opposed to a group of unprepared, mostly linked Northern and Southern differences. Assuming that the “alert regions” are more likely to effectively manage and overcome the post- COVID-19 crisis, we provide a picture of how the Italian Regions have sought to encourage the adoption of digital technologies to improve resilience after the shock. Adjusting for age, gender and the early period of the outbreak, poor health conditions were associated with a higher risk of COVID-19 mortality (HR of comorbidity score, 1.31 [95% CI 1.11 to 1.54]; p=0.001). The estimated mortality risk in patients with pre-existing coronary heart disease (CHD) was three times that of those without CHD (p<0.001). The estimated 30-day survival probability for a profile patient with pre-existing CHD (65-year-old woman with no other comorbidities) was 0.53 (95% CI 0.34 to 0.82), while it was 0.85 (95% CI 0.79 to 0.91) for those without CHD. Older age was also associated with increased mortality risk: every 1-year increase in age was associated with a 4% increased risk of mortality (p<0.001).Conclusion Extra care and early medical interventions are needed for patients with pre-existing comorbidities, especially CHD. Just when the interest of investors was at its highest, SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) affected all international financial markets, so that, at first sight, it might seem that the financial assets assigned to CSR should have suffered collapses that were identical to the rest; however, our work shows the opposite, providing a comparative analysis of how the pandemic has affected the financial markets of each continent to demonstrate its outstanding resilience through the use of the Wavelets methodology. We analyzed the global impact of the registered cases of COVID-19 on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSWI), the world’s leading indicator of sustainable companies, in addition to six other financial indices selected from each continent. The empirical results of this research show that the worldwide repercussions of the sudden outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 has had a substantially smaller effect on sustainability-related indices compared to the other considered indices. Similarly, the methodology employed allowed the establishment of a chronogram with details of the dating of COVID-19 expansion through the considered countries, a certain gradation in terms of the impact of the pandemic on these stock indices, and certain common guidelines describing their devastating effects on each of the financial markets represented by the indices in this research.
