A pesar del masivo consenso en torno al cambio climático y del carácter parcialmente antrópico del mismo, así como de la necesidad de articular políticas de evitación o al menos de resiliencia, dicho consenso no es total, de ahí que se haya instituido en un típico objeto de debate metacientífico (como lo fue en su día el debate nuclear, o el de las “células madre”), conectándose con posiciones ideológicas. Nuestro artículo evidencia, a partir de un estudio de caso, cómo dicho debate percola aspectos tan diversos de la acción pública como son las políticas demoscópicas, en países en los que, como España, los gobiernos disponen de institutos de opinión de carácter público. Poniendo en evidencia cómo desde la llegada del Partido Popular desaparece el interés por conocer las actitudes de la población hacia el cambio climático. Por otra parte, el artículo conecta las circunstancias en que se produce la investigación que da pie al artículo con una temática emergente, pero apenas tratada todavía en la literatura sociológica, como es el currículum de fracasos (“CV of failures” en sus términos originarios). Evidenciando cómo tales fracasos pueden constituirse no sólo en recursos en sí mismos, sino en objeto de análisis en el marco de la investigación sobre el homo academicus.

El sector agropecuario resulta estratégico para la soberanía de un país, ya que es fuente de alimentos y materias primas requeridos por la sociedad para garantizar las necesidades básicas. Este análisis sistemático tiene como objetivo hacer una reflexión de la evolución de las políticas públicas relacionadas con el sector agropecuario. Se revisó documentos de expertos publicados en los últimos treinta años. Se concluye que la política actual del gobierno colombiano ha seguido al pie de la letra los dictámenes del consenso de Washington y ha gobernado con políticas nada convenientes para el desarrollo del sector agropecuario nacional.

Resumen: El presente trabajo tuvo por objeto el diseño e implementación de medidas preventivas y de control de ruido para el Centro de Generación de Energía de la empresa Dipor S.A., con el fin de salvaguardar la salud auditiva de los trabajadores. Se identificaron fuentes de ruido y actividades capaces de causar daño a la audición o molestias para realizar actividades intelectuales. Con este antecedente se evaluaron los niveles de ruido mediante un sonómetro calibrado y bajo la norma UNE-EN ISO 9612:2009. Los resultados de la medición demostraron que los niveles de ruido del generador y oficinas, sobrepasan el límite permisible de 85 dB(A) y 70 dB(A) respectivamente; límites establecidos por el Decreto Ejecutivo 2393. Para minimizar el riesgo de pérdida auditiva, se dictaminó el uso obligatorio de protectores auditivos mediante señales de seguridad; así como un plan de rotación del personal para disminuir el tiempo de exposición a ruido. En las oficinas se modeló un acondicionamiento acústico para bajar el nivel de ruido y evitar que las actividades de carácter intelectual se vean interferidas por el ruido excesivo en el ambiente. Se ejecutó un plan de capacitación para dar a conocer los efectos del ruido en la salud y las medidas de control implementadas por la empresa. Para verificar el estado de salud auditiva se realizaron audiometrías a los trabajadores antes y después de la implementación del proyecto; esto con el fin de constatar si a lo largo del tiempo sufrieron alteraciones. Adicional, se implementó un plan de mantenimiento preventivo de los elementos mecánicos susceptibles de causar ruido dentro del generador. Abstract: The objective of this work was the design and implementation of preventive measures and noise control for the Energy Generation Center of the company Dipor S.A., to safeguard the hearing health of workers. It began with the identification of noise sources and activities that can cause hearing damage or inconvenience for intellectual activities, to further evaluate the noise levels using a calibrated sound level meter and under the UNE-EN ISO 9612: 2009. The measurement results showed that the noise of the generator and offices exceed the permissible limit of 85 dB(A) and 70 dB(A), respectively; limits established by Executive Order 2393. To minimize the risk of hearing loss, the use of hearing protectors was established by safety signals; and a plan to reduce the noise exposure time of workers. An acoustic conditioning was modeled inside the office to reduce the noise level and prevent the intellectual activities being interfered by excessive noise in the environment. A training plan was implemented to show the effects of noise on health and control measures implemented by the company. Audiograms were performed to workers before and after implementation of the project to check the status of hearing health and determine whether over time suffered hearing impairment. Additional, a plan of preventive maintenance of mechanical elements capable of causing noise inside the generator was implemented.

En las últimas décadas el territorio y la ciudad se han constituido en asuntos de preocupación relevante para las distintas disciplinas y por lo tanto para la academia en general; sin embargo, su análisis ha sido parcial y sesgado a los enfoques propios de las profesiones. Las disciplinas, si bien han hecho importantes aportes para su abordaje, dejan entrever la ausencia de enfoques integrales que permitan una mejor comprensión sobre estos asuntos, complejos y dinámicos. En el presente análisis el territorio se asume como el contexto en el que se desarrollan las dinámicas, los procesos urbanos y las interacciones de estos con el entorno rural, mientras que la ciudad se constituye en el pretexto para la comprensión de la vida moderna de hoy y del futuro –ya que la aglomeración es un hecho cierto en el mundo– el cual se ha intensificado en los países en desarrollo, como es el caso colombiano. Este artículo plantea cuatro aspectos claves para abordar el tema de estudio: primero, la pertinencia de la temática; segundo, explora el contexto histórico sobre la ciudad y el proceso de urbanización; tercero, se esbozan los principales elementos de un enfoque integral para el análisis del territorio y la ciudad a partir de una triada –la noción de paradigma de Kuhn, la ecología social de Capra y la Equística– como método que permite integrar los aportes disciplinarios y transversales a dicho análisis; finalmente, se presenta una agenda preliminar de temas de investigación que contribuye a dinamizar el debate.

El 22 de marzo de 2017 falleció en la ciudad de La Habana, Cuba, a la edad de 66 años, la destacada investigadora LOURDES RODRÍGUEZ SCHETTINO. Doctora en Ciencias Biológicas de la Universidad de La Habana y herpetóloga del Instituto de Ecología y Sistemática de Cuba. Persona de gran prestigio internacional por su notable producción de artículos científicos y libros, dentro de los que se destacaron “The Iguanid Lizards of Cuba”, Libro Rojo de los Vertebrados de Cuba” y “Diversidad de anfibios y reptiles de Cuba”. Este último trabajo le valió para obtener en 2004 el Premio Nacional al Mejor trabajo de Investigación otorgado por la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba. La Dra Rodríguez Schettino dictó conferencias en importantes universidades de diversos países del mundo y contribuyó notablemente como par evaluador de prestigiosas revistas internacionales. Fue notable su contribución como autora y evaluadora de artículos en nuestra Revista Colombiana de Ciencia Animal - RECIA. Los investigadores que tuvimos el privilegio de conocerla la recordaremos por su rigor científico, su calidad humana y su férrea voluntad para el trabajo, por difícil que este fuera, durante toda su vida.

El quitosano tiene propiedades promotoras del crecimiento y la nutrición de los cultivos. Es un bioestimulante que en estudios previos demostró su actividad sobre la regulación del crecimiento, promoción de la germinación y el vigor de las plantas e incremento del rendimiento agrícola. En el presente trabajo se evaluó el efecto individual o combinado de la aplicación de quitosano por imbibición de semilla y vía foliar al inicio de floración sobre la respuesta agronómica (crecimiento, desarrollo y rendimiento) de las variedades de tomate ESEN y L-43 establecidos en condiciones de campo con un diseño de bloques al azar con tres repeticiones. Los resultados muestran que la combinación de aplicar quitosano en las semillas en dosis de 1 g L-1 y a inicio de floración en dosis de 300 mg ha-1 estimuló las variables evaluadas asociadas al rendimiento, incrementando éste, hasta 60.9 Mg ha-1 en la variedad ESEN y hasta 27 Mg ha-1 en la variedad L-43, lo que representa un 28.5 y 25% de incremento respectivamente, al compararlo con el tratamiento control. Con lo cual se concluye que el quitosano como bioestimulante aplicado como tratamiento conjunto durante la imbibición de semilla y vía foliar al inicio de la floración tiene efectos significativos mejorando las variables número de flores por plantas, número de frutos, masa de los frutos y rendimiento para ambas variedades en comparación con el tratamiento control, obteniéndose rendimiento entre 47-60.9 Mg ha-1 al aplicar por solo 42-43 Mg ha-1 en el tratamiento control.

Resumo – A atividade suinícola tem grande importância no Brasil e, por isso, busca-se utilização adequada do dejeto líquido de suíno (DLS) em áreas agrícolas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os efeitos da aplicação de DLS e ureia, tratados ou não com inibidor de nitrificação (DCD), e o modo de distribuição dos fertilizantes na presença e ausência de resíduos culturais sobre as emissões de CO2 em ambiente controlado. O solo utilizado para a condução do trabalho foi um Cambissolo Húmico, para avaliar as emissões diárias e acumuladas de CO2. As emissões diárias de CO2 aumentaram com a utilização de DLS. Não houve efeito relacionado ao modo de aplicação dos fertilizantes. A utilização de palhada aumentou as emissões de CO2. As emissões acumuladas de CO2 foram maiores nos tratamentos com a utilização de palha combinada ao uso de DLS. Abstract – Swine production is fundamental in Brazil and it seeks suitable use for swine slurry (SS) in agricultural areas. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of SS and urea application, treated or not with nitrification inhibitor (DCD) and the way of fertilizer distribution, associated or not with crop residues, on CO2 emissions in a controlled environment. The soil used in this study was a Humic Dystrudept soil and daily and accumulated CO2 emissions were measured. Daily CO2 emissions increased with SS use. There was no difference considering the way the fertilizers were applied. The use of straw increased CO2 emissions. Accumulated CO2 emissions were higher under use of straw associated with SS.

El cultivo del fríjol es una actividad agrícola familiar que, generalmente, se produce bajo condiciones de estrés biótico y abiótico, por ello, se necesita seleccionar materiales estables, con buen potencial de rendimiento, para contribuir a la seguridad alimentaria y a la competitividad. La investigación, se realizó para evaluar la estabilidad fenotípica de 13 accesiones de fríjol rojo arbustivo, con crecimiento determinado de una colección de referencia, en cinco ambientes, con clima templado y frío, en Colombia. El análisis de estabilidad fenotípica, se realizó con las metodologías de Eberhart & Russell, Wricke y Shukla y AMMI. Los análisis permitieron determinar que los cultivares ICA Cerinza y Boyacá 18 fueron los más estables, con rendimiento potencial mayor al promedio. Perú 40 y Diacol Andino fueron los de mayor potencial de rendimiento, pero los más inestables, mientras que por el método AMMI, se detectó que todos los ambientes, excepto Mosquera 4, aportaron significativamente a la GxA, alcanzando el 79,07% de la varianza acumulada, en los dos primeros componentes principales.

Se presentan los resultados de un estudio de los hábitos alimenticios de Lutjanus griseus asociado a la vegetación sumergida en El Cayo, Laguna de Términos, Campeche, México. La investigación se realizó siguiendo un diseño de muestreo intensivo tanto en escala espacial como temporal. Se recolectaron un total de 994 individuos, de los cuales 672 tenía alimento en sus estómagos. Se analizaron los porcentajes en número, peso y frecuencia de los grupos tróficos, así como el índice de importancia relativa. Los componentes alimenticios dominantes fueron Farfantepenaeus duorarum, Palaemonetes octavie, Eucinostomus gula y Libinia dubia. La salinidad y la temperatura se relacionaron con el número de individuos colectados así como con un incremento en el consumo de peces por los individuos de mayor talla. Se calculó el índice de diversidad de dieta para seis clases de talla de los peces, examinándose su variación a través del año. Los peces de menor y mayor talla mostraron los valores más bajos de este índice, mientras que los organismos de las tallas intermedias presentaron los valores más altos. Los resultados mostraron que L. griseus tiene preferencia por hábitats con vegetación sumergida. El porcentaje de peces con alimento en sus estómagos fue mayor durante la noche que durante el día, evidenciando los hábitos nocturnos de esta especie.Feeding habits and trophic ecology of the fish Lutjanus griseus (Pisces: Lutjanidae) associated with submerged vegetation in Laguna de Términos, Campeche, Mexico. In Campeche, Mexico, the Laguna de Términos has Thalassia testudinum beds inhabited by the grey snapper, Lutjanus griseus (Linnaeus 1758). Along one year, we collected 994 individuals and 672 had food in their stomachs; we recorded number, weight, and frequency of trophic groups, and the index of relative importance. Dominant food components were Farfantepenaeus duorarum and Palemonetes octaviae, Eucinostomus gula (Cuvier 1830) and Libinia dubia. Salinity and temperature were related to the number of individuals collected and with greater fish consumption by large L. griseus. The trophic niche breadth index was calculated for six size-classes of fish. The smallest and the largest fish had the lowest index values, whereas medium-size snappers had higher values. This snapper has a preference for habitats with submerged vegetation. The percentage of fish with food in their stomachs was higher during dark hours, providing evidence of the nocturnal habits of this fish. Rev. Biol. Trop. 55 (3-4): 989-1004. Epub 2007 December, 28.

Abstract. Agriculture, generally speaking, is the basis of thefood system of any country. Mexico’s maize crop is particularly important, not only in terms of food security but also as in terms of culture and identity. The fact that, in recent decades, Mexico has positioned itself as the second largest importer of maize is worrying. For the purpose of measuring the private sector profitability of maize production in the Bajío region of Guanajuato, this study analyzed data from 2,996 producers who participate in the “High Yield Maize Assessment Program (PROEMAR)”, of the Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias- Bajío Experiment Camp (INIFAP-CEBAJ). We used the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) developed in 1989 by Monke andPearson. The results indicate that the benefit-cost ratios of the three technological systems analyzed (considering in their total income, the sale of grain and sub products), were 2.20 for rainfall (T); 1.50 for irrigation with livestock (RCA) and 1.01 for irrigation without livestock (RSA), excluding land costs; including land costs decreased the ratios to 2.13, 1.35 and 0.91. The private cost ratio (RCP), excluding the land, by production system was: T = 0.04, RCA = 0.13 and RSA = 0.85, which implies that the maize producers in the Bajío region of Guanajuato are competitive. When includingland rent in the production costs, the rainfall and irrigation with livestock systems remained competitive with a RCP of 0.07 and 0.32, respectively; not so for the production unit with the irrigation system without livestock (2.04). The most significant input was fertilizer costs, which represented 50% of the costs. / Resumen. La agricultura en general es la base del sistema alimentario de cualquier país. En México el cultivo de maíz es de especial importancia, no solo en términos de seguridad alimentaria sino también como parte de su cultura e identidad. El hecho de que durante las últimas décadas México se ha posicionado como el segundo importador de maíz a nivel mundial, resulta preocupante. Con el propósito de medir la rentabilidad privada de la producción de maíz en el Bajío de Guanajuato, se analizaron los datos de 2,996 productores que participan en el “Programa de Evaluación de Maíz de Alto Rendimiento (PROEMAR)”, del Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias-Campo Experimental Bajío (INIFAP-CEBAJ). Se usó la Matriz de Análisis de Política (MAP) desarrollada en 1989 por Monke y Pearson. Los resultados indican, que las relaciones beneficio-costo de los tres sistemas tecnológicos analizados (considerando en su ingreso total tanto la venta del grano como desubproductos), fueron de 2,20 en temporal (T); 1,50 en riego con actividad pecuaria (RCA) y 1,01 en riego sin actividad pecuaria (RSA), esto excluyendo la tierra de los costos de producción, mientras que incluyendo la tierra la relación disminuye a 2,13, 1,35 y 0,91. La relación del costo privado (RCP) excluyendo la tierra por tecnología fue: T=0,04, RCA=0,13 y RSA=0,85, lo que implica que el productor de maíz en la región Bajío de Guanajuato es competitivo. Al incluir la renta de la tierra en los costos de producción, los sistemas de temporal y riego con actividad pecuaria siguen siendo competitivos con una RCP de 0,07 y 0,32, respectivamente; no así la unidad de producción bajo el sistema de riego sin actividad pecuaria (2,04). El insumo con mayor importancia en los costos fueron los fertilizantes representando un 50 % de los costos.
