El objetivo de este estudio fue realizar observaciones de estructuras celulares asociadas a S. subterranea f. sp. subterranea en plantas de papa en diferentes estados fenológicos naturalmente infectadas por el patógeno, sintomáticas o asintomáticas. Para este propósito se realizaron observaciones al microscopio de luz haciendo tinción de estos tejidos con azul de tripano, mediante lo cual fue posible identificar todas las fases de S. subterranea en las plantas analizadas. Lo anterior demuestra que en los tejidos radicales de papa, no siempre la presencia de agallas es indicativo de la infección, aun plantas asintomáticas pueden ser portadores de estructuras del protozoo; además, algunas estructuras asociadas a S. subterranea como plasmodios o células únicas, son de ocurrencia común y coinciden con las mencionadas frecuentemente en la literatura también en hospederos silvestres, lo que lleva a proponer la hipótesis de que este es un microorganismo común en suelos, que causa disturbios importantes puntualmente en cultivos de papa y cuyas estrategias de control deben orientarse el conocimiento de la ecología de las interacciones del protozoo, sus hospederos y el suelo.Spongospora subterranea (Wallroth) Lagerheim f. sp. subterranea Tomlinson, is the causal agent of powdery scab in potato and is an obligate parasite, because the biological and reproductive characteristic, it has a great survival and infection capacity in both, natural and wilds host which, can belong in different ecosystems and climatic conditions. It was demostrated that in radicular tissues of potato not always galls are indicative of infection, plants without symptoms can have protozoa structures, beside associated structures to S. subterranea as plasmodium an sporangium aggregate, are commonly found and coincident with some structures frequently reporter in wild hosts; this appreciations, allows to propose that this microorganism is common in soils, associated with wild and cultivate species, causing important disturbs specially on potato plants, where control strategies should be oriented towards the knowledge of ecology of interactions protozoa, its host and soil. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar los cambios a corto plazo en variables microbiológicas y químicas en respuesta a la aplicación de abonos orgánicos bajo condiciones de incubación. Fracciones de suelo sin (testigo) y con agregado de compost y vermicompost fueron incubadas por 90 días a 28 ºC y 60% del agua disponible remanente. Cada 10 días se midió actividad microbiana total (AMT), abundancia de bacterias y hongos totales, microorganismos celulolíticos, fijadores de N, amonificadores y nitrificadores, N-NO3, N total, P-H2CO3, K intercambiable y materia orgánica. La AMT y los microorganismos amonificadores y celulolíticos fueron sensibles a la optimización de temperatura y humedad del suelo, y no frente al abonado orgánico. Los microorganismos celulolíticos incrementaron durante la incubación, mientras que la AMT y los amonificadores disminuyeron. La aplicación de vermicompost solo tuvo un efecto inmediato positivo en la población de microorganismos fijadores de N y nitrificadores, pero no perduró en el tiempo. En cambio, el contenido de N total, P-H2CO3 y K intercambiable fueron indicadores sensibles potenciales para la evaluación de dicha práctica agronómica en suelos áridos regadíos. Estas características químicas aumentaron con la aplicación de los abonos orgánicos durante 90 días de incubación. El P-H2CO3 y K intercambiable fueron más sensibles a la aplicación de compost, del mismo modo que se había observado en el campo. La variación temporal de las características químicas del suelo frente al abonado orgánico mostró mayor diferencia que las microbiológicas convirtiéndose en indicadores sensibles a esa práctica. Varela Description An account of the resource The South American sea lion, Otaria flavescens (Shaw, 1800) population is steadily expanding along the Patagonian coast of Argentina in the last decades. However, little is known about the feeding ecology of the species in the area. The aim of this study was to analyze the food habits of O. flavescens from 91 scats collected at Río Negro province, during the winter and spring of 2005. Fish occurred in 96% of scats containing prey remains, followed by cephalopods (26%). Raneya brasiliensis (Kaup, 1856) was the most frequent and abundant species occurring in 58.6% of samples and constituting almost 50% of fish predated. Second in importance were Porichthys porosissimus (Cuvier, 1829) and Cynoscion guatucupa (Cuvier, 1830) in terms of occurrence (%FO 20.7) and numbers (29.6%) respectively. The squid Loligo gahi (d'Orbigny, 1835) was the most frequent cephalopod prey (42.1%), whereas Octopus tehuelchus (d'Orbigny, 1834) was the most abundant (77%). The higher amount and diversity of prey found in the spring in comparison with the winter season might be related to a higher feeding activity of seals or to a seasonal increase in food availability in the area.La población del lobo marino de un pelo sudamericano Otaria flavescens (Shaw, 1800) ha experimentado un crecimiento continuo en las ultimas décadas en las costas de la Patagonia Argentina. Sin embargo, poco se conoce sobre la ecología trófica de la especie en el área. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los hábitos alimentarios de O. flavescens a partir de 91 fecas colectadas en la provincia de Río Negro, durante el invierno y la primavera del 2005. Los peces estuvieron presentes en el 96% de las fecas que contenían remanentes presas, seguidos por los cefalópodos (26%). Raneya brasiliensis (Kaup, 1856) fue la especie mas frecuente y abundante ocurriendo en el 58.6% de las muestras y constituyendo casi el 50% de los peces predados. Le siguieron en importancia Porichthys porosissimus (Cuvier, 1829) y Cynoscion guatucupa (Cuvier, 1830) en términos de frecuencia de ocurrencia (%FO 20,7) y abundancia numérica (29,6%) respectivamente. El calamar Loligo gahi (d'Orbigny, 1835) fue el cefalópodo presa mas frecuente (42,1%), mientras que Octopus tehuelchus (d'Orbigny, 1834) fue el mas abundante (77%). La mayor cantidad y diversidad de presas observada en primavera en comparación con el periodo invernal podría estar relacionada a una mayor actividad de forrajeo de los lobos o a un incremento en la disponibilidad de presas en el área.
