                <text>The spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has transformed many aspects of people’s daily life, including sports. Social networks have been flooded on these issues. The present study aims to analyze the tweets produced relating to sports and COVID-19. From the end of January to the beginning of May 2020, over 4,000,000 tweets on this subject were downloaded through the Twitter search API. Once the duplicates, replicas, and retweets were removed, 119,253 original tweets were analyzed. A quantitative–qualitative content analysis was used to study the selected tweets. Posts dynamics regarding sport and exercise evolved according to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown, shifting from considering sport as a healthy bastion to an activity exposed to disease like any other. Most media professional sporting events received great attention on Twitter, while grassroots and women’s sport were relegated to a residual role. The analysis of the 30 topics identified focused on the social, sporting, economic and health impact of the pandemic on the sport. Sporting cancellations, leisure time and socialization disruptions, club bankruptcies, sports training and athletes’ uncertain career development were the main concerns. Although general health measures appeared in the tweets analyzed, those addressed to sports practice were relatively scarce. Finally, this study shows the importance of Twitter as a means of conveying social attitudes towards sports and COVID-19 and its potential to generate alternative responses in future stages of the pandemic.</text>

Sosyal medya insanların duygu, düşünce, fikir, fotoğraf, video gibi içerikleri paylaşabildiği katılımcı bir yapıya sahiptir. Sosyal medyanın katılımcı yapısı birçok insanın aynı platformda olmasını sağlarken salgın, afet, felaket, deprem, kriz gibi olaylarla ilgili enformasyonun hızlı bir şekilde yayılmasını sağlamaktadır. İnsanlar bu olaylarla ilgili hashtaglar oluşturarak sosyal medya üzerinden haberleşmekte ve daha çok kitleye ulaşabilmektedirler.  Özellikle Twitter, Facebook, Instagram gibi sosyal medya platformları toplumu ilgilendiren önemli konularda gerek insanlar gerekse de siyasi kurumlar (politikacılar, STK’lar, siyasi partiler, devlet kurumları gibi ) tarafından sosyal etkileşimi sağlamak için yoğun olarak kullanılmaktadır.  Çin’in Wuhan kentinde ortaya çıkan ve birçok ülkeye yayılan Covid-19 salgınında da sosyal medya en fazla kullanılan araç olmuştur. Ülkemizde de Sağlık Bakanlığı sosyal medya hesapları üzerinden insanlara virüs hakkında bilgiler vermekte ve oluşturdukları hashtaglar ile bilgilerin daha çok kişiye ulaşması hedeflenmektedir. Bu çalışmada Sağlık Bakanlığı’nın “Hayat Eve Sığar” hashtagi ile Instagram’dan paylaştığı gönderiler göstergebilimsel çözümleme ile incelenerek bu gönderilerle verilmek istenilen mesajların ne olduğu ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda incelenen Sağlık Bakanlığı’nın #hayatevesığar etiketiyle Instagram’da paylaştığı gönderilerde genel olarak pandemi döneminde evde kalmanın önemine dikkat çekilerek pandemi öncesinde dışardaki hayatın evde de devam edeceğine yönelik mesajlar verilmiştir.</text>

                <text>2019 yılı sonlarında ortaya çıkan COVID-19 salgını etkisini gün geçtikçe artırmaktadır.   Salgının yarattığı ekonomik hasar ise en büyük ekonomik şoklardan biri olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu süreçte yaşanan ekonomik belirsizlikler ve kırılganlıklar, karantina ve sosyal izolasyon önlemleri, salgının getirdiği ek sorumluluk ve maliyetler işletmeleri iflasın eşiğine getirmekte, pek çok insan işini kaybetme tehlikesiyle karşı karşıya kalmaktadır. COVID-19 döneminde uygulanan sosyal mesafe önlemleri nedeniyle bireylerin çalışma ve yaşam şekilleri de değişmektedir. Niteliği itibarıyla geçmiş yıllardaki ekonomik krizlerden farklı seyreden salgının ekonomik hayatta yer alan erkek ve kadın çalışanlar üzerindeki etkileri de farklıdır. Çalışmada COVID-19’un ekonomik etkilerinin toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliği bağlamında değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Sistematik literatür taraması yöntemi ile konu ile alakalı farklı perspektifler içeren güncel bilgiler derlenmiş ve bu hususta değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur.  Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular salgının ekonomik etkilerinin toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğine negatif etkisi olacağı yönündedir. Bunun nedeni kadınların yoğun olarak çalıştığı hizmet sektörünün salgın sürecinde diğer sektörlere nazaran daha savunmasız konumda olmasıdır. Ayrıca sosyal mesafe ve evden eğitim süreci kadınların ev ve bakım yükünü artırarak istihdama ayırdıkları süreyi azaltmaktadır. Diğer taraftan sosyal mesafe dönemi ev içerisinde daha eşit bir iş bölümü yaratabilir ve ortak çocuk bakım sorumluluğunu artırabilir. Bu durumlar toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğine pozitif etki sağlayabilir. Ele aldığı konu bakımından güncel olması ve özgün nitelik taşıması nedeniyle çalışmanın ilgili literatüre katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.</text>

                <text>The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly affected education at all levels, including medical and dental education. Our study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the blended learning in conservative dentistry with endodontics. The students had theoretical classes in a remote form (using the e-learning portal and Teams communicator) and practical classes with the participation of patients in the appropriate sanitary regime. The author’s survey was conducted among fourth-year dental students. The online questionnaire consisted of 5 parts: self-evaluation, evaluation of theoretical e-learning classes, evaluation of practical clinical classes, evaluation of safety, and evaluation of performed blended learning. The majority of respondents declared that their learning effectiveness increased during the pandemic. Most surveyed students preferred remote learning in asynchronous form (e-learning portals) to synchronous form (virtual meetings in real-time). All respondents described the provided personal protective equipment as sufficient or even as excessive. Our students were very satisfied with the proposed blended-learning model and would like to continue it even after the pandemic has ended. Among the advantages, they particularly mentioned the increase in efficiency and the individualised pace of learning, while the disadvantage was the limitation of social contacts. The appropriate use of modern technology can effectively revolutionise dental education.</text>

                <text>The ongoing outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection has spread rapidly worldwide. The major transmission routes of SARS-CoV-2 are recognised as inhalation of aerosol/droplets and person-to-person contact. However, some studies have demonstrated that live SARS-CoV-2 can be isolated from the faeces and urine of infected patients, which can then enter the wastewater system. The currently available evidence indicates that the viral RNA present in wastewater may become a potential source of epidemiological data. However, to investigate whether wastewater may present a risk to humans such as sewage workers, we investigated whether intact particles of SARS-CoV-2 were observable and whether it was possible to isolate the virus in wastewater. Using a correlative strategy of light microscopy and electron microscopy (CLEM), we demonstrated the presence of intact and degraded SARS-like particles in RT-qPCR SARS-CoV-2-positive sewage sample collected in the city of Marseille. However, the viral infectivity assessment of SARS-CoV-2 in the wastewater was inconclusive, due to the presence of other viruses known to be highly resistant in the environment such as enteroviruses, rhinoviruses, and adenoviruses. Although the survival and the infectious risk of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater cannot be excluded from our study, additional work may be required to investigate the stability, viability, fate, and decay mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2 thoroughly in wastewater.</text>

                <text>The present work aims to identify the predictors of COVID-19 in-hospital mortality testing a set of Machine Learning Techniques (MLTs), comparing their ability to predict the outcome of interest. The model with the best performance will be used to identify in-hospital mortality predictors and to build an in-hospital mortality prediction tool. The study involved patients with COVID-19, proved by PCR test, admitted to the “Ospedali Riuniti Padova Sud” COVID-19 referral center in the Veneto region, Italy. The algorithms considered were the Recursive Partition Tree (RPART), the Support Vector Machine (SVM), the Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM), and Random Forest. The resampled performances were reported for each MLT, considering the sensitivity, specificity, and the Receiving Operative Characteristic (ROC) curve measures. The study enrolled 341 patients. The median age was 74 years, and the male gender was the most prevalent. The Random Forest algorithm outperformed the other MLTs in predicting in-hospital mortality, with a ROC of 0.84 (95% C.I. 0.78–0.9). Age, together with vital signs (oxygen saturation and the quick SOFA) and lab parameters (creatinine, AST, lymphocytes, platelets, and hemoglobin), were found to be the strongest predictors of in-hospital mortality. The present work provides insights for the prediction of in-hospital mortality of COVID-19 patients using a machine-learning algorithm.</text>

                <text>Medical schools have been slowly adopting online learning into pedagogical methods for more than a decade. While some medical educators are reluctant to accept these changes, the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic poses a threat to the delivery of traditional medical education, which has accelerated the inevitable implementation of online learning. This sudden change may be a new challenge to medical educators who are new to this territory. Therefore, this review aims to provide foundational concepts of online learning and practical guidelines in the context of medical education. The authors first identify three foundational concepts, which are transactional distance, presence, and independent learners. In online learning, transactional distance, determined by dialogue and structure, becomes more important than physical distance. Furthermore, effective and successful online learning requires the achievement and accommodation of cognitive, social, and teaching presences. It is also crucial to recognize learners not as passive recipients of information predefined by a teacher, but as active, capable, and independent individuals. The authors, then, discuss the practical guidelines for designing an effective online curriculum. Five online pedagogical guidelines are laid out in this review: design structures and flows to embrace experiential learning, accommodate both synchronous and asynchronous learning, design/facilitate interactions, promote practice opportunities, and promote a learning community. By understanding the foundational concepts and applying these guidelines, the adoption of online learning in the medical school may supplement the traditional medical education or even provide additional benefits in the new normal after the COVID-19 pandemic.</text>
