We compared the AB0 and Rh subgroup distributions between patients with a positive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test result and the patients without. We compared the AB0 and Rh subgroup distributions between patients with lung involvement and patients without. Additionally, comparisons were performed between the patients both with positive PCR result and lung involvement, and the patients with a negative PCR result. Results No significant difference of ABO and Rh subgroup distributions was evident between patients with and without a positive PCR test result (p=0.632 and p=0.962). No significant difference of ABO and Rh subgroup distributions was evident between the patients with and without lung involvement (p=0.097 and p=0.797). No significant difference of ABO and Rh subgroup distributions was evident among patients both with PCR positivity and lung involvement, patients with only PCR positivity, and the patients with negative PCR test results (p=0.3 and p=0.993). Conclusion All blood group types seem to have an equal risk of COVID-19 infection. Everyone should follow the precautions to avoid the COVID-19 infection. Older individuals are at higher risk compared with younger adults and children due to the presence of weaker immune functions. Healthcare workers are also at higher risk due to close proximity with the infected cases. Proper precautions and hand hygiene techniques can prevent the transmission of the disease. There is a dearth of evidence on how to manage the disease; therefore, protective measures might help to reduce the spread of infection. This article aimed to evaluate the preventive measure and use of protective equipment among healthcare workers and community settings. Various recent literature searched in the following databases-Medline/PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus-recommendations from centre for disease control and prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) reports on preventive measures of COVID-19 were included. After reviewing the previous literature, we summarized proper precautions and hygiene techniques, use of PPE and applicability of surgical and N95 (can block 95% small particles but not resistant to oil) masks to prevent the transmission of disease. This viewpoint can be considered as a unique example of information on infection control and protective measures. However, due to the lack of evidence, further research is required to compare the effectiveness of medical masks and N95 masks. An online survey was distributed through social media to individuals with a diagnosis of PID to investigate behaviors and concerns during the Covid-19 pandemic. Five hundred and fifty seven responses were collected, of which 495 surveys were 100% complete; partial responses were analyzed. Respondents have been extremely cautious and have minimized their potential Covid-19 exposure risk. In this study, 56.6% (n = 289) participated in telehealth visits with the physician responsible for managing their PID during the Covid-19 pandemic. Respondents reported they would be somewhat comfortable with returning to normal activities if there was widespread herd immunity (40.9%, n = 209), an effective vaccine (46.0%. n = 235), or public health protections (44.0%, n = 225). The majority of respondents were extremely concerned (57.3%, n = 293) about additional waves of Covid-19 cases when their state or country reopens. The PID community is aware of the health risks posed by this public health crisis, and have done as much as possible to minimize their risk to community exposure. This pandemic has highlighted the importance of continuous medical care for a vulnerable population through the use of telemedicine. Healthcare providers should be aware of the emotional burden and increased psychiatric distress, often presenting as fear, anxiety, or depression, in patients with a chronic medical condition during a public health crisis such as the Covid-19 pandemic. In this study, science faculty mentors from one U.S. university report on potential delays to degree completion and their expectations of their mentees during this time. Nearly half of the faculty advisors surveyed expected their graduate student mentees to experience delayed time to graduation. Respondents also described making an effort to support their mentees through providing encouragement and identifying research-related goals students could complete remotely. One-fourth of respondents stated that they were not altering their expectations for their mentees. The respondents who did report having altered expectations varied between altering their immediate expectations and changing their overall expectations for degree completion.
