Introducción: Se presenta un análisis cualitativo del acompañamiento psicosocial a jóvenes en condiciones de vulnerabilidad desde la ecología humana durante 12 meses entre 2010 a 2011; utilizando técnicas pedagógicas evaluativas participativas. Éstas, son una alternativa para crear espacios reflexivos con el propósito de potenciar la resiliencia en las relaciones comunicativas y formar en el respeto. Objetivo: Generar bienestar, prevenir la farmacodependencia y contribuir a la promoción de la salud. Material y Métodos: Se revisaron los antecedentes temáticos, fueron seleccionados 100 estudiantes entre 11 y 19 años de dos instituciones educativas públicas en condiciones vulnerables;se desarrollaron cuatro talleres reflexivos y cuatro prácticas lúdicas y se realizaron tres grupos focales con estudiantes, profesores y padres de familia. Resultados y Discusión: El contexto social de la población intervenida, revela problemas de abuso sexual, violencia intrafamiliar y eventos violentos en el vecindario por grupos armados ilegales, entre otros, que constituyen factores de riesgo importantes para la farmacodependencia. Conclusión: Se infiere que lo psicosocial incide en la farmacodependencia, afectando la convivencia de la población estudiada por múltiples causas del orden psicoafectivo, sociocultural, económico y político que van desde el consumo cultural hasta la seguridad alimentaria.

El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar, comparar y discutir la información bioarqueológica disponible para las poblaciones humanas del Holoceno tardío del Sudeste de la Región Pampeana (estructura regional del registro, indicadores óseos y dentales de salud, nutrición y dieta y variabilidad morfológica inter e intramuestral), con el fin de formular un modelo del poblamiento del área durante este período. La evidencia bioarqueológica sugiere que durante el Holoceno tardío pudieron haberse dado en el área condiciones que condujeron a una reducción de la movilidad, a una probable ampliación de la dieta, a una intensificación en el uso de recursos de bajo retorno y a cambios en las relaciones sociales y ecológicas de las poblaciones humanas respecto a anteriores momentos del Holoceno. Estos cambios pueden ser explicados como el resultado de una expansión demográfica y geográfica y de la ocupación efectiva del espacio regional posterior a una probable retracción poblacional ocurrida a mediados del Holoceno medio. Estos procesos se discuten a través de la aplicación de ciertos principios derivados del emergente campo de la geografía evolutiva (Lahr y Foley 1998) y de la ecología evolutiva (modelo Travelers-Processors; Bettinger y Baumhoff 1982).The aims of this paper are to present, compare and discuss the growing bioarchaeological database available for the late human populations from the southeastern Pampean Region in Argentina. These data are related to the regional structure of the bioarchaeological record, the sample distribution of bone and dental indicators of health status, nutrition and diet, and cranial and postcranial morphological diversity. All the bioarchaeological evidence suggests the existence during the Late Holocene of conditions promoting a reduction in group mobility, a broadening of diet spectrum, increased emphasis in processing of some relatively low return vegetal resources, such as seeds and sheaths, territorial behavior and, in some areas, population competition and replacement. These changes are explained as the result of demographic and geographic expansion leading to the effective occupation of all the available regional space after a probable population retraction during the Middle Holocene (ca. 6000-5000 years BP) and, later, the geographic expansion of north patagonian population into the area. The theoretical grounds for the discussion are provided by some principles taken from the emergent field of evolutionary geography (Lahr and Foley 1998), and from evolutionary ecology (Travelers-Processors Model; Bettinger and Baumhoff 1982).

Este trabajo es el resultado de una investigación documental sobre la construcción histórica del actual concepto de Desarrollo Sostenible a nivel mundial, principalmente en relación a posicionamientos de diferentes ámbitos institucionales. Si bien el concepto cobra gran relevancia en la arena política internacional en el año 1992 con la Cumbre de la Tierra de Río de Janeiro, este estudio abarca el período comprendido entre fines del siglo XIX con el Movimiento Conservacionista Americano (en donde se encuentra una primera aproximación al actual concepto) y finaliza con la entrada en vigencia en enero de 2016 de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de Naciones Unidas. Resulta fundamental analizar la creciente preocupación por la conservación ambiental así como el debate sobre la sostenibilidad de los sistemas socioeconómicos para poder desarrollar políticas y prácticas concretas en tales sentidos. En este marco, este trabajo buscó realizar una investigación de aquellos hitos que de una u otra forma participaron en la construcción de lo que se entiende en la actualidad por Desarrollo Sostenible. Si bien la construcción teórica del concepto representa un proceso extenso y complejo, la revisión y selección bibliográfica realizada intentó identificar aquellos lineamientos a nivel global más importantes en la materia.

A pesar de los beneficios del sol, este puede convertirse en un terrible enemigo para la piel, induciendo el fotoenvejecimiento y en algunos casos fotocarcinogénesis. Esto hace necesario el uso constante de protectores solares que se elaboran sobre la base de principios activos que protegen mediante diversos mecanismos. Con este trabajo se pretendió evaluar la capacidad protectora de la zeolita contra las radiaciones ultravioletas y determinar el factor de protección solar de las formulaciones mediante el método espectrofotométrico, utilizando la ecuación de Mansur. La zeolita fue incorporada a una crema aceite en agua a diferentes concentraciones (2, 4 y 6 %), que fueron evaluadas espectrofotométricamente, utilizando como patrones de comparación formulaciones de dióxido de titanio (TiO2) (2, 4 y 6 %) y como estándar comercial al ESCALOL ISP VAN DIK. También se determinó la capacidad fotoprotectora mediante la técnica de fotoprotección con el uso de bacterias (E. coli), tomando como control positivo el estándar comercial. El análisis espectrofotométrico demostró que la zeolita absorbe en el rango UVB al igual que las formulaciones que contienen TiO2, y se observó en las formulaciones con zeolita (4 y 6 %) un alto efecto de reflectancia, fenómeno reportado para el TiO2. Los resultados de la técnica de fotoprotección con el uso de bacterias mostraron que en los cultivos protegidos con zeolita, igual que los protegidos con ESCALOL, se observó un mayor número de poblaciones de bacterias sobrevivientes en comparación a los cultivos sin protecciónDespite its benefits, the sun may become a terrible enemy of the skin by inducing photoaging and in some cases photocarcinogenesis. This makes it necessary to permanently use sunscreens produced on the basis of active principles that provide protection through various mechanisms. This paper was intended to evaluate the protective capacity of zeolite to UV radiations and determine the sun protection factor of formulations by spectrometry with Mansur´s equation. Zeolite was added to an oil cream in water at different concentrations (2, 4 and 6%) which were spectrometrically examined using titanium dioxide (TiO2) formulations (2, 4 and 6%) ans comparison patterns and ESCALOL ISP VAN DIK as commercial standard. Also the photoprotective capacity was determined by the photoprotection technique with bacteria (E. coli), taking the commercial standard as a positive control. The spectrophotometric analysis showed that just like TiO2 formulations, zeolite absorbs UVB; furthermore a high reflectance effect, a phenomenum found in TiO2 was observed in zeolite formulations ( 4 & 6%). The results of photoprotection techinque using bacteria indicated that in both zeolite and ESCALOL-protected cultures there was a higher number of surviving bacterial populations than in unprotected cultures

La caries dental constituye actualmente la enfermedad más frecuente en el ser humano. Existen algunos elementos de la ecología bucal que pueden favorecer su desarrollo. Se realiza una revisión bibliográfica con el objetivo fundamental de profundizar en los conocimientos teóricos sobre las características del tejido adamantino, aspectos específicos del Streptococcus mutans, papel de la saliva en el medio bucal e influencia de la ingesta de carbohidratos que pueden predisponer a la aparición de caries dental. Se concluye que se debe aumentar la resistencia del esmalte e impedir la adhesión inicial del Streptococcus mutans para prevenir esta enfermedad; la saliva debe ser considerada como un sistema y debemos fomentar la educación nutricional e higiénica de la familia.Dental caries are nowadays the most frequent disease among human beigns. There are some elements of oral ecology that may favor their development. A bibliographic review is made aimed at going deep into the theoretical knowledge of the characteristics of the adamantine tissue, the specific aspects of Streptococcus mutans, the role of saliva in the oral environment, and the influence of the ingestion of carbohydrates that may predispose the appareance of dental caries. It is concluded that the enamel resistance should be increased and that the initial adhesion of Streptococcus mutans should be impeded to prevent this disease. Saliva should be considered as a system and we should promote the family nutritional and hygiene education.

Las Comunidades Marginadas y Aisladas (CMA) en América Latina presentan retos similares que son difíciles de abordar desde una perspectiva integral como región por falta, en parte, de los instrumentos necesarios. En el caso de la inseguridad alimentaria, una de las causas fundamentales en las CMA es la falta de insumos y herramientas adecuadas, a las que tienen acceso bien a través de la donación o a través del crédito. La condición de marginación y aislamiento invita a optar por el crédito, al volverse imprescindible el contar con intervenciones sostenibles por la poca atención que este tipo de comunidades recibe de las autoridades públicas y la cooperación al desarrollo. De entre las metodologías para acceder a los créditos en las CMA destacan las líneas de crédito, los Programas de Grupos Solidarios, o las Estructuras Financieras Locales (EFL) o bancos comunales. Tras el análisis realizado en este artículo, se concluye que las EFL o bancos comunales son la metodología capaz de arrojar mejores resultados.

Este trabajo está asociado al proyecto de “Sociología en la Gestión del Desarrollo Local” del departamento de Sociología de la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad de Oriente. La dinámica poblacional actual y perspectiva de Cuba, con un proceso de envejecimiento poblacional que alcanza el 19,8 % correspondiente al grupo III, es decir, mayor al 15 % de personas con 60 años y más y con una disminución de individuos de 0 a 14 años; sitúa a los jóvenes entre 17 y 29 años, parte de la población económicamente activa, como un grupo etario decisivo en el desarrollo local, en áreas urbanas y rurales. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo desarrollar fundamentos teóricos y metodológicos para la valoración del papel de la juventud rural en el desarrollo local, con énfasis en la labor de elevar la seguridad alimentaria como vía de reducción del hambre y la pobreza. Se concluye que la juventud rural presenta una heterogeneidad tanto del género, como de complejidad en sus necesidades e intereses que requiere una atención específica que contribuya a elevar su sentido de pertenencia al espacio social rural. Se utilizó una estrategia metodológica triangulada y la fundamentación teórica se basó en las concepciones de Michelle Foucault y Max Neef.

La actividad de los herbívoros puede depender tanto de las características de los recursos como de las interacciones con otros organismos que dañan las hojas. Analizamos el efecto de la dureza de la hoja y la probabilidad de daño foliar sobre el recorrido y la eficiencia de las larvas del minador de hojas en el arbusto Azara microphylla. En comparación con el sector apical, el sector basal de las hojas fue más duro y mostró una probabilidad menor de daño foliar por herbívoros, hongos y/o patógenos. Los minadores tuvieron una actividad mayor en el sector basal, a pesar de que, en general, comenzaban su recorrido en el sector apical (que fue el sitio de mayor oviposición). La eficiencia resultó similar en ambos sectores foliares. Estos resultados sugieren que las interacciones con otros organismos que dañan las hojas cumplen un papel relevante en modelar la actividad forrajera de los minadores e ilustran cómo las construcciones que realizan los individuos pueden ser empleadas para estudiar su ecología y su comportamiento.
