The Italian healthcare system is experiencing a stressful burden, especially in terms of intensive care assistance. In fact, the main clinical manifestation of COVID-19 patients is represented by an acute hypoxic respiratory failure secondary to bilateral pulmonary infiltrates, that in many cases, results in an acute respiratory distress syndrome and requires an invasive ventilator support. A precocious respiratory support with non-invasive ventilation or high flow oxygen should be avoided to limit the droplets’ air-dispersion and the healthcare workers’ contamination. The application of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) by means of a helmet can represent an effective alternative to recruit diseased alveolar units and improve hypoxemia. It can also limit the room contamination, improve comfort for the patients, and allow for better clinical assistance with long-term tolerability. However, the initiation of a CPAP is not free from pitfalls. It requires a careful titration and monitoring to avoid a delayed intubation. Here, we discuss the rationale and some important considerations about timing, criteria, and monitoring requirements for patients with COVID-19 respiratory failure requiring a CPAP treatment. Social distancing is one of the measures that has been implemented with the aim of slowing the spread of the disease, but it is difficult for blind people to comply with this. In this paper, we present a system that helps blind people to maintain physical distance to other persons using a combination of RGB and depth cameras. We use a real-time semantic segmentation algorithm on the RGB camera to detect where persons are and use the depth camera to assess the distance to them; then, we provide audio feedback through bone-conducting headphones if a person is closer than 1.5 m. Our system warns the user only if persons are nearby but does not react to non-person objects such as walls, trees or doors; thus, it is not intrusive, and it is possible to use it in combination with other assistive devices. We have tested our prototype system on one blind and four blindfolded persons, and found that the system is precise, easy to use, and amounts to low cognitive load. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Gerçek zamanlı polimeraz zincir reaksiyonu veya toraks BT incelemesi ile COVID-19 tanısı konulan 32 hemodiyaliz hastasının BT bulguları geriye dönük olarak değerlendirildi. Radyolojik bulgular; buzlu cam, konsolidasyon, karışık tip tutulum (buzlu cam ve konsolidasyon), kaldırım taşı görünümü, interlobüler septal kalınlaşma, nodül, halo-ters halo bulgusu, hava bronkogram bulgusu, subplevral kürvilineer opasiteler ve tomurcuklanmış ağaç görünümleri olarak sınıflandırıldı. Bulgular: Çalışmaya toplam 32 hasta dahil edildi. Hastaların 21’i (%65,6) erkek, 11’i (%34,4) kadındı. Yaş ortalaması 67,5±8,5 yıl idi. Tüm hastalarda kronik böbrek yetmezliği mevcuttu. Toraks BT incelemesinde hastaların 14'ünde (%43,8) buzlu cam görünümü, 3'ünde (%9,4) konsolidasyon ve 15'inde (%46,9) karışık tip tutulum (buzlu cam görünümü ve konsolidasyon) görüldü. Eşlik eden BT bulguları 23 (%71,9) hastada plevral effüzyon, 13 (%40,6) hastada subplevral kürvilineer opasiteler, 11 (%34,4) hastada bronşiol duvar kalınlaşması, 7 (%21,9) hastada lenfadenopati, 4 (%12,5) hastada bronşektazi ve 4 (%12,5) hastada plevral kalınlaşma idi. The case presented here involves a 73-year-old man experiencing fever and respiratory distress, who was ultimately diagnosed with COVID-19. During the course of his hospitalization, the patient developed acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), followed by being intubated due to his breathing difficulties. Because of variations in the patient&rsquo;s clinical features, we decided to perform hemoperfusion to remove cytokines. Afterward, his clinical status improved significantly, and he was discharged in stable condition. However, 26 days later, fever and respiratory distress manifested again.
