Floristic and faunal composition homegardens of family farming in northeast ParáAbstract: The homegardens are common among family farmers in the Amazon, and sustainable land use systems developed from traditional knowledge. Besides having as main purpose the promotion of food security, they are spaces for socialization and recreation for farmers and can contribute to the composition of its income from the sale of production surplus. The aim of this study was to identify the diversity of yards from the flora and fauna composition. The research studied 37 homegardens in five communities in Igarapé-Açu and Marapanim, northeast Pará, using direct observation techniques in the field, application of semi-structured questionnaires, ethnographic notes and guided tour in homegardens. Were identified 107 plant species and 12 animals. These data show that there is a greater number of species compared to other studies, which can be inferred large traditional knowledge used in the creation and diversification of these land use systems in the study site, considering the low technological level and family labor employees. Thus, these characteristic spaces of the countryside of family farmers in northeast Pará match key elements of their agricultural ecosystems, generating production and ensuring the reproduction of families.</text>

<text>This work was accomplished in Nova Friburgo, highland region of Rio de Janeiro State. It was studied two rural properties whose producers use organic and natural management of the soil. The natural management differs from the organic for not using crop rotation and organic fertilization with animal dejections. The two rural properties present distinct soil classes; therefore, a comparison among the two soil management systems was not possible. The study had as main objective to evaluate the degree of modification of soil properties in areas submitted to organic and natural management. In each area soil samples were collected under crop areas and control. In natural management, the control was a fallow area. In organic management, the control was a secondary forest area. The results showed that in the area under natural crop management levels of Ca, Ca+Mg, P and pH in water were statistically higher, when compared to the control. For H+Al, the highest values occurred in the reference area, when compared to cultivated areas. In the organic management, higher values of Ca, Ca + Mg, Na, K and P were observed in the crop area in all depths. However, for H + Al and NO3 - , the higher values were found in the control area. A degradation of the soil physical properties in the area under natural management was indicated by variation in aggregate stability and soil bulk density, but the organic management has benefited those properties. The selected and evaluated variables were capable to discriminate the different management systems studied by the main components analysis.

<text>This research focused on understanding the effects of structural heterogeneity within tree crowns on the airborne retrieval of solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) and the Crop Water Stress Index (CWSI). We explored the SIF and CWSI variability observed within crowns of trees subjected to different water stress regimes and its effect on the relationships with leaf physiological measurements. High-resolution (20 cm) hyperspectral imagery was acquired to assess fluorescence retrieval from sunlit portions of the tree crowns using the Fraunhofer line depth method, and from entire crowns using automatic object-based tree crown detection methods. We also measured the canopy temperature distribution within tree crowns using segmentation algorithms based on temperature percentiles applied to high-resolution (25 cm) thermal imagery. The study was conducted in an almond orchard cultivated under three watering regimes in Cordoba, in southern Spain. Three airborne campaigns took place during the summer of 2015 using high-resolution hyperspectral and thermal cameras on board a manned aircraft. Relationships between SIF and the assimilation rate improved significantly when the sunlit tree crown pixels extracted through segmentation were used for all flight dates. By contrast, the SIF signal extracted from the entire tree crowns was highly degraded due to the canopy heterogeneity observed within tree crowns. The quartile crown segmentations applied to the thermal images showed that the CWSI values obtained were within the theoretically expected CWSI range only when the pixels were extracted from the 50th percentile class. However, the CWSI values were biased in the upper quartile (Q75) for all watering regimes due to the soil background effects on the calculated mean crown temperature. The relationship between the CWSI and Gs was heavily affected by the crown segmentation levels applied and improved remarkably when the CWSI values were calculated from the middle quartile crown segmentation (Q50), corresponding to the coldest and purest vegetation pixels (r2 = 0.78 in pure vegetation pixels vs. r2 = 0.52 with the warmer pixels included in the upper quartile). This study highlights the importance of using high-resolution hyperspectral and thermal imagery for pure-object segmentation extractions from tree crowns in the context of precision agriculture and water stress detection.</text>

However, improving the use phase of lamps demand a more complex production system, including (sometimes) hazardous materials, what have worsened final disposal as well. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) has been addressed to lamps since 1996, and now with its evolution, comparisons are getting more common. These studies lead to different results, wherein functional unit (FU) plays a key role to generate these differences, even when product systems are similar, making difficult the overall understanding of comparisons. We aimed to analyze the scientific production of LCA of lamps, developing a framework of the product systems, the FU definition and the results to indicate trends and patterns of the LCA methodology application, including comparison possibilities. The proposed methodology was an integrative literature review applied to scientific databases and further papers content analysis. The survey identified 16 papers, where it is clear the recent increase on comparative LCA studies addressed to lighting technologies. There were 4 different FU definitions in papers. However, complementary description of product performance enable one to equalize FU into a common basis, wherein values for climate change have shown that LED lamps are preferable than fluorescents, that are preferable than incandescent. Even though this was possible, FU should be clearly indicated and represent products function, in this case: an amount of lumen-hour.</text>

<text>This study aims to present a research on the representation of family farmers process at institutional spaces of social participation. Data were obtained from City Council for Rural Development of Itapejara d’Oeste and Vitorino and Management Group of Southwest Territory of Paraná. These spaces, which are institutional spaces originated from the process of decentralization of state institutions and effort to develop civil society participation in state management, determine the emergence of a differentiated process of representation, played by representatives of different social groups present in these spaces. The representation is analysed considering two dimensions: the representatives representativeness and the representatives ability to intervene in the several spaces. The research shows that different configurations of spaces, trajectories of representatives and associative trajectories of municipalities and region alter the process of representation from the distinction of the profiles of the representatives, the forms of relationship between representatives and the represented and how their own institutional spaces of social participation are identified with the associative conformations of family farmers in the territory.</text>

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the colonization of arbuscular mycorrhiza on the tolerance to Panama disease of the banana plant cv. maçã under different sources of nutrients. A completely randomized design was employed, having a 2 x 4 factorial [2 densities of native FMA spores (D1 - 3,500 spores kg-1 soil and D2 - 7000 spores kg-1 soil) and four different concentrations of nutrient sources - three of a nutrient solution (SN 40%, SN 70% and SN 100%) and a 100% solution of bio-fertiliser (B4)], with three replications. After planting, the seedlings were inoculated with Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense, and later the shoot dry matter, leaf phosphorus content, mycorrhizal colonization, soil pH and disease severity index were evaluated. The different nutrient sources affected the shoot dry matter, the phosphorus content, the mycorrhizal colonization and the disease severity index, but did not affect the pH of the soil-solution. The bio-fertiliser did not meet the nutritional demands of the plants, which remained underdeveloped, however it promoted intense mycorrhizal colonization and lower manifestations of fusarium. The latter increased under mineral fertilization.</text>
