                <text>A sudden outbreak of COVID-19 caused by a novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, in Wuhan, China in December 2019 quickly grew into a global pandemic, putting at risk not only the global healthcare system, but also the world economy. As the disease continues to spread rapidly, the development of prophylactic and therapeutic approaches is urgently required. Although some progress has been made in understanding the viral structure and invasion mechanism of coronaviruses that may cause severe cases of the syndrome, due to the limited understanding of the immune effects caused by SARS-CoV-2, it is difficult for us to prevent patients from developing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and pulmonary fibrosis (PF), the major complications of coronavirus infection. Therefore, any potential treatments should focus not only on direct killing of coronaviruses and prevention strategies by vaccine development, but also on keeping in check the acute immune/inflammatory responses, resulting in ARDS and PF. In addition, potential treatments currently under clinical trials focusing on killing coronaviruses or on developing vaccines preventing coronavirus infection largely ignore the host immune response. However, taking care of SARS-CoV-2 infected patients with ARDS and PF is considered to be the major difficulty. Therefore, further understanding of the host immune response to SARS-CoV-2 is extremely important for clinical resolution and saving medication cost. In addition to a breif overview of the structure, infection mechanism, and possible therapeutic approaches, we summarized and compared the hematopathologic effect and immune responses to SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, and SARS-CoV-2. We also discussed the indirect immune response caused by SARS and direct infection, replication, and destroying of immune cells by MERS-CoV. The molecular mechanisms of SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV infection-induced lymphopenia or cytokine storm may provide some hint toward fight against SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus. This may provide guidance over using immune therapy as a combined treatment to prevent patients developing severe respiratory syndrome and largely reduce complications.</text>

                <text>An important stage in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) life cycle is the binding of the spike (S) protein to the angiotensin converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) host cell receptor. Therefore, to explore conserved features in spike protein dynamics and to identify potentially novel regions for drugging, we measured spike protein variability derived from 791 viral genomes and studied its properties by molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. The findings indicated that S2 subunit (heptad-repeat 1 (HR1), central helix (CH), and connector domain (CD) domains) showed low variability, low fluctuations in MD, and displayed a trimer cavity. By contrast, the receptor binding domain (RBD) domain, which is typically targeted in drug discovery programs, exhibits more sequence variability and flexibility. Interpretations from MD simulations suggest that the monomer form of spike protein is in constant motion showing transitions between an “up” and “down” state. In addition, the trimer cavity may function as a “bouncing spring” that may facilitate the homotrimer spike protein interactions with the ACE2 receptor. The feasibility of the trimer cavity as a potential drug target was examined by structure based virtual screening. Several hits were identified that have already been validated or suggested to inhibit the SARS-CoV-2 virus in published cell models. In particular, the data suggest an action mechanism for molecules including Chitosan and macrolides such as the mTOR (mammalian target of Rapamycin) pathway inhibitor Rapamycin. These findings identify a novel small molecule binding-site formed by the spike protein oligomer, that might assist in future drug discovery programs aimed at targeting the coronavirus (CoV) family of viruses.</text>

                <text>In this article we examine blood as a medium and metaphor for Hindutva’s political transactions. Specifically, we identify three ways in which blood operates in Hindutva thought and practice. First, it serves to create a spatial geographic whole – an original Hindu nation whose inhabitants share the same blood. Second, blood serves to mediate between the violent and non-violent aspects of Hindu nationalism, authorizing and reconciling present acts of violence with a supposed Hindu capacity for heroic restraint. And third, blood serves to establish a temporal continuum between a Hindutva past, present and future, writing Hindu nationalist thought and action backwards into Indian history, and forwards to threaten future bloodshed against non-adherents. In these three ways, Hindutva imaginations and extractions of blood work through each other. In present-day India, these three political manifestations of blood – as a marker of exclusion, as mediating non-violence, and as premonitory threat – have all appeared in the Citizenship Amendment Act controversy and around the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. As blood overflows through time and space, it threatens to erase difference and legitimize violence while further extending the ideology’s reach.</text>

                <text>O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a ocorrência de hipocalcemia associada ou não a hipomagnesemia em vacas leiteiras de propriedades de agricultura familiar. Foram avaliadas 22 vacas das raças Jersey, Holandesa e Jersolando, no período de transição, oriundas de pequenas propriedades de agricultura familiar, com produção média 12L/leite/dia. A concentração do cálcio total e do magnésio séricos foi determinada por metodologia colorimétrica e cálculo do cálcio ionizado estimado a partir das concentrações séricas do cálcio total, de proteína e albumina. Foi observada hipocalcemia em 50% dos animais no pré-parto (8,2±1,4mg/dL) e 63,6% no pós-parto (7,7±1,7 mg/dL). La retina está constituida por ocho capas y dos membranas, hay areae centrales en la zona posterior, por lo tanto tiene mayor espesor que la zona lateral. The visual system of Teleost fishes has a wide range of adaptations. The eye has suffered modifications, mainly towards better sensitivity and visual resolution according to specific environmental conditions. In that way, this organ is so important for survival. In spite of being the most commercialized Orinoquía species, and one of the most important ornamental fish worldwide, there are almost no studies on the communication systems of P. axelrodi (including vision). We studied the eye in ten individuals of P. axelrodi, with a mean total length of 2.7 cm (SD= 0.2, n= 20). We measured eye relative size (TRO) after sacrifice. Heads were processed for hematoxylin-eosin, and 8 &amp;#956;m thick sections were obtained. Images were digitalized for histological identification and morphometrics. The relation between TRO and body length was 9.8% (SD= 1.1, n= 20); lens was spherical with a relative size of 64.3% (SD= 4.9, n= 20). Rete mirabilis choroid was composed mainly by capillaries, while sclera was composed of cartilaginous tissue. Retina with eight layers and two membranes. An areae centrales was observed in the posterior retina. Iris covered by a simple cubic epithelium. Cornea of endothelial tissue with two membranes. Pupil almost circular, with a naso-caudal elongation. Measures of retina thickness were as follows: lateral retina 144.5 &amp;#956;m (SD= 5.4, n= 20), temporal retina 210.4 &amp;#956;m (SD= 14.8, n= 20). Lens measurements were: dorso- ventral 759.6 &amp;#956;m (SD= 31.7, n= 20), antero-posterior 763.4 &amp;#956;m (SD= 30.7, n= 20). Cornea thickness was 27.6 &amp;#956;m (SD= 4.3, n= 20); iris thickness was 18.9 &amp;#956;m (SD= 1.9, n= 20); rete mirabilis choroid 22.2 &amp;#956;m (SD= 3.2, n= 20) and sclera: 15.9 &amp;#956;m (SD= 1.2, n= 20). This species has a typical Teleost eye conformation. The retina was thicker in the posterior area, probably related to the presence of neuron groups. This modification allows for a better sharpness and visual resolution.                 <text>Los lagos de alta montaña, con una baja mineralización, alcalinidad y contenido de nutrientes, son  ecosistemas sensibles a perturbaciones naturales o antropogénicas y en la actualidad están amenazados  por el calentamiento global. En México existen dos lagos de alta montaña (&gt; 3,800 m snm): La Luna y El  Sol, en el cráter del Nevado de Toluca. Análisis de parámetros químicos y de diatomeas en sedimentos  superficiales permiten identificar que La Luna es más ácido y menos mineralizado que El Sol y que a pesar  de  su  proximidad  geográfica  cada  lago  tiene  un  conjunto  de  diatomeas  característico,  con  menor  abundancia y riqueza específica en La Luna. En este lago dominan  Encyonema perpusillum  y  Psammothidium  helveticum  y en El Sol  Cavinula pseudoscutiformis ,  Psammothidium levanderi  y  Aulacoseira distans.  Con base  en esta distribución se interpreta el registro de diatomeas de una secuencia sedimentaria de La Luna, de  57 cm, fechada con  210 Pb y  14 C en la que también se realizaron análisis de contenido de cladóceros y de  susceptibilidad magnética. Todos estos indicadores permiten ubicar el inicio de una tendencia hacia climas  secos y fríos alrededor de los años 1350 y 1510, que corresponde a la Pequeña Edad de Hielo (PEH), la cual  tiene su máxima expresión entre los años 1660 y 1760, durante el mínimo de actividad solar de Maunder.  Las características ambientales de sequía y frío se observan hasta principios del siglo XX. La comparación  de este registro con otros disponibles permite concluir que durante la PEH hubo una tendencia regional en  el centro de México hacia climas secos.</text>
