This problem requires the adoption of management and input techniques to reduce the degenerative effects of salts on plant species. In this sense, the aim of this study was to assess the effect of bovine biofertilizers on biometric variables and chlorophyll contents in tamarind seedlings irrigated with saline water. The experiment was conducted from October 2012 to January 2013, in Areia, PB, Brazil, in a randomized block design with four replications and five plants per plot in a 5 × 3 factorial scheme, consisting of electrical conductivity of water of 0.5, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5, and 6.0 dS m?1 and soil without and with common and chemically enriched biofertilizers. Leaf area, shoot dry matter, and contents of chlorophyll a, b, total, and carotenoids were assessed at 100 days after sowing. The increased water salinity reduced leaf area and seedling biomass formation, with a higher intensity in the soil without biofertilizer. The addition of biofertilizers allows the formation of tamarind seedlings irrigated with water of a salinity not tolerated by them when cultivated in the soil without the tested inputs. Salicornia bigelovii is a halophyte of great interest. However, the productivity of these plants is limited by nitrogen availability. An alternative to chemical fertilizers are the plant growth promoting bacteria and mycorrhizae. In the present study was evaluated the effect of Glomus intraradices, three strains of rhizobacteria (Klebsiella pneumoniae, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Azospirillum halopraeferens) and two soil types (clayey and sandy) on Salicornia under greenhouse conditions. The inoculation of bacteria under conditions of sandy soil significantly stimulated growth and nutritional factor of Salicornia (NPK). Synergism was observed between G. intraradices and rhizobacteria. When inoculated bacteria in individually form, behaved with significant differences. There was synergism between G. intraradices and Klebsiella pneumoniae and A. halopraeferens in the uptake of N, the opposite happened with G. intraradices and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens with high significant values in the absorption of P and K. The soil was a determining factor in behavior and expression of the benefit of the microorganisms. Rhizobacteria and mycorrhiza in the study have potential for use as growth promoters in salicornia. Fue utilizada la base de datos del Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería para los rubros del tártago, la mandioca, el algodón y el sésamo de los años 1990/1991 al 2008/2009 para el análisis sobre área de siembra, producción total en tonelada y rendimiento en kilogramo por hectárea. El resultado revela que el tártago en el periodo de estudio presenta un descenso constante en la cantidad de área sembrada, pasando 6.610 ha en la zafra 1990/91 a 3.450 ha en la zafra 2008/9, en el mismo periodo, la mandioca presenta un crecimiento del área sembrada pasando 9.365 ha a 10.402 ha, mientras, el algodón de 23.700 ha disminuyó a 1.277 ha, así mismo, el cultivo de sésamo desde el inicio de su producción (zafra 2000/01) presenta un incremento constante en la cantidad de área sembrada, pasando de 8.000 ha a 22.917 ha. Se verifica la variación en el periodo de estudio para todos los rubros, considerando a la mandioca como un rubro más estable, y al sésamo como rubro de sustitución del algodón. The introduction of this activity into agroforestry systems plays a key role in diversifying these agro-ecosystems, expanding income opportunities and working towards foodsovereignty for families. Furthermore, the bees can contribute through their pollination potential, increasing the productivity of many crops. However, the activity is still not widely used as a component of this type of agro-ecosystem. Based on this information, the aim of this article is to contribute to the discussion concerning the integration of meliponiculture into agroforestry systems, with a view to stimulating the interest of family farmers, researchers and other interested parties, as these practices are compatible with conserving nature, ensuring the rational use of natural resources and of sustainable development. Isto porque está frequentemente presente na mesa de seus moradores até os dias atuais, estando relacionada à uma tradição e identidade local. Trata-se também de um importante produto do comércio étnico (ligado diretamente à manutenção da agricultura familiar) e recentemente vem sendo percebida como alimento “típico”, enquantoatrativo do turismo gastronômico local. Este estudo busca preencher a lacuna existente nos estudos relativos à relação entre identidade,alimentação e desenvolvimento entre grupos oriundos de imigrantes no Brasil, especificamente do Médio Vale do Itajaí. Para tanto, partimos do arcabouço da Antropologia da Alimentação e do método etnográfico com oito entrevistas em profundidade, além de pesquisas de campo, para obter informações relevantes ao estudo sobre a Cuca (Kuchen). Observamos que a Cuca (Kuchen) resultou de um sistema alimentar que foi constituído pelos imigrantes teutos na região, tendo se tornado ao longo do tempo um elemento essencial de sua identidade no terrirório e fez parte do desenvolvimento da região, acompanhando suas transformações. ABSTRACT This article presents results of an investigation in the Middle of Itajaí (Santa Catarina state, Brazil), whose objective was to analyze the Cuca (Kuchen) as an emblematic element of the identification of the inhabitants and the relation with the local development. We understand that Cuca (Kuchen) has a position as an emblematic element within the food system in the Middle Itajaí Valley because it is frequently present at the table of its residents, being related to local identity, it is important product of the ethnic trade (directly linked to the maintenance of agriculture familiar) and has recently been perceived as “typical” food, capable of being attractive to local gastronomic tourism. This study seeks to fill the gap in the studies related to the identity and feeding relationship between groups originating from immigrants in Brazil, specifically in the Middle Vale do Itajaí. Neste sentido nota-se a importância de analisar o papel das mulheres frente ao desenvolvimento de atividades pluriativas no campo, pois atualmente percebe-se uma modificação do papel feminino dentro do contexto familiar rural, visto que essas eram percebidas apenas com papel reprodutivo, papel esse que era desempenhado apenas no âmbito doméstico e que se relaciona em síntese aos afazeres domésticos e ao cuidado com os filhos, enquanto que aos homens cabe o papel produtivo por estarem diretamente ligados ao desenvolvimento da agricultura e pecuária, atividades estas que geram renda monetária; mas atualmente esse fato tem sofrido modificações, pois as mulheres rurais estão cada vez mais inseridas no mercado de trabalho por meio do desenvolvimento de atividades pluriativas, sendo assim é gerada renda complementar a família através do trabalho feminino, de forma que a mulher passa a ter além do papel reprodutivo o papel produtivo pelo fato de gerar renda por meio de seu desempenho no desenvolvimento de atividades de cunho não-agrícola. The focus of this work lies on different influences over the configuration of this productive sector, including cooperativism and its nuances. To support the discussion, we interviewed seven experts and investigated how occurred insertion and changes in dairy farming over the years and how it has contributed to regional development. The analysis shows that, given the demand for expertise and high investment in new production technologies in poultry and swine production, which would be potential exclusion criteria for less capitalized farmers, the dairy farming has enabled many of these to remain in the countryside. On the one hand, institutional, legal and market factors have been pushing on poultry and swine producers and dairy farmers for production technology changes. On the other hand, this also influences on the strategies of dairy farmers for maintaining their activities, counting with the support of associations and cooperatives oriented to the development of the region..
