La papa criolla (Solanum phureja) posee características valiosas desde el punto de vista culinario y nutricional, por su alto contenido de vitaminas, minerales, fibra y calidad de proteína. Colombia es un centro de diversidad y origen de papas criollas, lo que representa un enorme potencial de recurso genético para el fitomejoramiento. En la Universidad Nacional de Colombia se conserva el banco de germoplasma de papas criollas de Colombia. El estudio de los cariotipos es importante para entender las bases genéticas que apoyan los cruces que se realizan en los programas de mejoramiento. A pesar de la importancia de este recurso, la caracterización de los cariotipos de las accesiones no ha sido realizada completamente. En este estudio se caracterizaron dos materiales de la colección de S. phureja y tres provenientes de la F1 del cruce de un genotipo resistente y otro susceptible a la enfermedad conocida como gota de la papa. El análisis comparativo permitió identificar diferencias en la morfología celular, dos niveles de ploidía (diploide y triploide), con dos variaciones aneugénicas (hipodiploide y trisomía doble) y cuatro números cromosómicos (18, 24, 26 y 36) para los cinco genotipos evaluados.Abstract. Potato crop is forth in importance worldwide after rice, wheat, and corn. Diploid potato cv. Criolla (Solanum phureja) shows highly desired culinary and nutritional characteristics, such as vitamins, minerals, fiber and protein quality. Colombia is a diversity and origin center of diploid potatoes cv. Criolla, which represents an enormous genetic resource potential for plant breeding. At Universidad Nacional de Colombia the potato 'criollas' germplasm bank is mantained. Karyotype analysis is important for understanding genetic basis of plant breeding. Despite the importance of this resource karyotype analysis of this collection has not been completed. In this study two accesions of the S. phureja collection and three genotypes from a F1 obtained from a cross between a late blight disease resistant and a susceptible genotype were characterized. Comparative analysis allowed the identification of differences in the cellular morphology, two ploidy levels (diploid and triploid) with aneugenic variations (hypodiploidy and double trisomy), and four chromosome numbers (18, 24, 26 y 36) for the five genotypes evaluated. Con el objeto de contribuir al manejo del problema sanitario, se evaluó bajo condiciones de invernadero el efecto biocontrolador de la cepa nativa TCN-014 y la cepa comercial TCC-005 de Trichoderma harzianum contra F. solani. Para el estudio se utilizaron plantas de dos meses de edad, establecidas en invernadero. Se ensayaron dos tiempos de aplicación del antagonista: 1. inoculando las plantas con el patógeno y cinco días después el antagonista. 2. inoculando primero el antagonista y cinco días después el patógeno. El experimento se estableció bajo un diseño experimental de bloques completos al azar con arreglo factorial 2x3, y los resultados fueron sometidos al análisis de varianza (ANOVA) y comparación de promedios mediante la prueba de rangos múltiples de Duncan, obteniéndose que al inocular primero el antagonista se presenta un mejor efecto biocontrolador de F. solani utilizando concentraciones de 106 y 108 conidias/mL tanto de la cepa nativa como comercial. Los resultados sugieren una acción efectiva de T. harzianum como biocontrolador de F. solani, mostrando que se pueden realizar estudios en campo que permitan desarrollar un bioproducto para el manejo ecológico de la marchitez en el cultivo de maracuyá.In the banana zone of Magdalena in Colombia has been reported a 30% decrease in crop production of passion fruit (Passiflora edulis var. Flavicarpa) due to the death of plants caused by the Dryer or vascular wilt disease, which is associated with the fungus Fusarium solani. In order to help manage of the disease was evaluated under greenhouse conditions the effect of the biocontrol strain native TCN-014 and CCL-005 commercial strain of Trichoderma harzianum against F. solani. For the evaluation were used plants with two months of age, set in the greenhouse; were tested two times of application of the antagonist: (1) inoculating the antagonist five days after of pathogen agent, and (2) inoculating the antagonist five days before the pathogen. The experiment was established under an experimental design of randomized blocks with 2x3 factorial arrangement, and data were submitted to analysis of variance (ANOVA) and comparison of averages using the multiple range test of Duncan. Results indicated that to inoculate the antagonist before the pathogen is obtained a better biocontrol effect of F. solani using concentrations of 106 and 108 conidia/ mL of both native and commercial strains. The results suggest an effective action of T. harzianum as a biocontrol of F. solani, showing that it can perform field studies in order to develop a byproduct for ecological management of wilt in cultivation of passion fruit. The lack of information on the effect of long-term crop rotations on soil chemical-physical properties for volcanic soils in Chile could restrict reaping real benefits, and make it difficult to take agricultural management decisions, which could lead to possible negative consequences on some soil chemical-physical properties and the environment. The development of information associated with the effect on soil chemical-physical properties with respect to long-term rotation systems and their fertilization management contribute to improving agronomic management decisions for these soils. A study was carried out to assess the effect of six rotation systems replicating fertilization management used by farmers, especially N and P application, and eventually low rates of K, Ca and Mg on soil chemical properties in a volcanic soil after 7 yr in Central South Chile. Affected chemical properties were pH, inorganic N, and available K, along with a general decrease of pH related to fertilization used, which was insufficient in Ca, K, and Mg. Moreover, this soil exhibited high P adsorption capacity (90.2 to 97.5%). Hence, crop rotations that included pasture legumes and crops with high nutrient inputs such as sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) generated a less negative effect on soil chemical properties. This study indicates that fertilization management in crop rotation systems must consider the input and output nutrient balances to prevent the negative effect on some soil chemical properties.Los sistemas de rotación de cultivos de largo plazo pueden tener varios beneficios sobre las propiedades físico-químicas del suelo y productividad de los cultivos. La falta de información sobre el efecto de rotaciones de largo plazo en las propiedades físico-químicas para suelos volcánicos en Chile podría limitar la obtención de beneficios reales, dificultando decisiones de manejo agrícola, con posibles consecuencias negativas en las propiedades físico-químicas del suelo y el ambiente. El desarrollo de información asociada a efectos en las propiedades físico-químicas del suelo en relación al uso de diferentes sistemas de rotaciones de largo plazo y sus manejos de fertilización, podrían contribuir a mejorar las decisiones de manejo agronómico en estos suelos. Se realizó un estudio que evaluó el efecto de seis rotaciones de cultivo que representan el manejo de fertilización utilizado por agricultores, que enfatiza la aplicación de N y P y eventualmente baja dosis de K, Ca y Mg, sobre las propiedades químicas de un suelo volcánico del centro-sur de Chile después de 7 años. Las propiedades químicas afectadas fueron pH, N inorgánico y K disponible, con una disminución general del pH relacionada con la fertilización usada, insuficiente en Ca, K y Mg. A su vez este suelo presentó una alta capacidad de adsorción de P (90,2-97,5%). Consecuentemente, las rotaciones de cultivo que incluyeron leguminosas forrajeras y cultivos con altos ingresos de nutrientes como remolacha generaron un efecto menos negativo en las propiedades químicas del suelo. Para prevenir efectos negativos sobre las propiedades químicas del suelo como lo indicado en este estudio, el manejo de fertilización en sistemas de rotaciones de cultivos debería considerar balances de entrada y salida de nutrientes. La universidad y la Unión de campesinos organizados de San Dionisio (UCOSD) llevan desde el 2013 un proceso de diálogo transdisciplinario para generar estrategias de desarrollo económico, humano y de adaptación al cambio climático desde las familias de trece comunidades rurales. La destrucción del tejido comunitario, por la desconfianza y la falta de coherencia personal del liderazgo. Esta información se analizó a la luz del plan estratégico de la organización y se obtuvieron unos aprendizajes y líneas de acción: La necesidad de afrontar los conflictos que cada persona arrastra para poder fortalecer la organización, el papel que la asociatividad juega en esa sanación personal, la necesidad de diálogo entre la memoria organizativa con las expectativas del relevo generacional. A través de una investigación acción participativa donde se están articulando diferentes niveles de grado y postgrado de la Universidad con las necesidades organizativas, productivas y ambientales de la organización campesina. Desde las carreras de ingeniería agronómica, economía y economía agrícola se ha dialogado con más de 300 familias campesinas organizadas en la subcuenca del río Cálico. En estos diálogos desde las 13 comunidades donde tienen presencia la UCOSD se ha detectado una enfermedad: la organización comunitaria ha muerto dejando paso a una burocracia administrativa que transforma poco a poco de un movimiento social campesino en una empresa prestadora de servicios campesinos. Las contradicciones que sufren los movimientos campesinos y las familias rurales dialogan con las propias contradicciones que sufre la Universidad en su quehacer investigativo y de extensión. Modelos jerárquicos de poder, visiones del conocimiento encontradas y poco respetuosas, inercias de transferencia y no escucha, dolores personales que cargan mochilas pesadas sobre sus estudiantes o sobre los hijos e hijas de los productores. Estas contradicciones nos ayudan a repensar los modelos de gobierno, los modelos de investigación y extensión y su articulación con docencia que debería impulsar una Universidad para enfrentar los retos y transformaciones de este siglo XXI.
