A pesquisa segue a a abordagem da Perspectiva Orientadaao Ator (POA) e foi realizada através de uma abordagem quantitativa onde 13 famílias do assentamento foram entrevistadas com auxílio de um formulário em 2013 e depois, em 2015, foram utilizados dados do Sistema Integrado de Gestão Rural do Programa de Assessoria Técnica, Social e Ambiental para assentamentos de reforma agrária. Os dados foram analisados através do software SPSS. Os resultados mostram a existência de uma diversidade de estratégias (re)produtivas em curso como a atividade leiteira, a sojicultura, a pluriatividade, a bovinocultura de corte, a horticultura, a produção para o autoconsumo, entre outras e que o trinômio leite/soja/atividade não-agrícola é a estratégia de reprodução mais adotada. Percebe-se também que as famílias assentadas manejam suas atividades produtivas de acordo com a disponibilidade de força de trabalho, de recursos financeiros, da variação de preços e da existência de políticas de apoio a produção e comercialização. Conclui-se também que, em que pese, a pressão exercida pelo agronegócio no entorno do assentamento Conquista da Esperança, as famílias assentadas confirmam a tendência da agricultura familiar de desenvolver respostas individuais e construir uma diversidade de estratégias reprodutivas diferindo da agricultura patronal predominante no município e caracterizada pelo cultivo isolado de soja. We can relate the increase in the level of information on the environmental issue to responsible decision making on the adoption of measures necessary to reduce the exploitation of natural resources, since the indiscriminate exploitation of these resources has resulted in major climatic changes that occur through environmental catastrophes. In this sense, the social function of the journalist stands out, because of his democratizing office that makes information accessible and prizes for quality. In order to evaluate this problem, we will use content analysis as one of the most efficient methods to collect information, based on the general principles of environmental journalism. Podemos relacionar el aumento en el nivel de información sobre la cuestión ambiental a la toma de decisión responsable sobre la adopción de medidas necesarias para disminuir la explotación de recursos naturales, ya que la explotación indiscriminada de esos recursos ha resultado en grandes cambios climáticos que se manifiestan por medio de catástrofes medioambientales. En ese sentido, se destaca la función social del periodista, en virtud de su oficio democratizador que hace la información accesible y aprecia por la calidad. Schroeter Description An account of the resource Major depression (MD) and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) share common brain mechanisms and treatment strategies. Nowadays, the dramatically developing COVID-19 situation unavoidably results in stress, psychological trauma, and high incidence of MD and PTSD. Hence, the importance of the development of new treatments for these disorders cannot be overstated. Herbal medicine appears to be an effective and safe treatment with fewer side effects than classic pharmaca and that is affordable in low-income countries. Currently, oxidative stress and neuroinflammation attract increasing attention as important mechanisms of MD and PTSD. We investigated the effects of a standardized herbal cocktail (SHC), an extract of clove, bell pepper, basil, pomegranate, nettle, and other plants, that was designed as an antioxidant treatment in mouse models of MD and PTSD. In the MD model of “emotional” ultrasound stress (US), mice were subjected to ultrasound frequencies of 16–20 kHz, mimicking rodent sounds of anxiety/despair and “neutral” frequencies of 25–45 kHz, for three weeks and concomitantly treated with SHC. US-exposed mice showed elevated concentrations of oxidative stress markers malondialdehyde and protein carbonyl, increased gene and protein expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-6 and other molecular changes in the prefrontal cortex as well as weight loss, helplessness, anxiety-like behavior, and neophobia that were ameliorated by the SHC treatment. In the PTSD model of the modified forced swim test (modFST), in which a 2-day swim is followed by an additional swim on day 5, mice were pretreated with SHC for 16 days. Increases in the floating behavior and oxidative stress markers malondialdehyde and protein carbonyl in the prefrontal cortex of modFST-mice were prevented by the administration of SHC. Chromatography mass spectrometry revealed bioactive constituents of SHC, including D-ribofuranose, beta-D-lactose, malic, glyceric, and citric acids that can modulate oxidative stress, immunity, and gut and microbiome functions and, thus, are likely to be active antistress elements underlying the beneficial effects of SHC. Significant correlations of malondialdehyde concentration in the prefrontal cortex with altered measures of behavioral despair and anxiety-like behavior suggest that the accumulation of oxidative stress markers are a common biological feature of MD and PTSD that can be equally effectively targeted therapeutically with antioxidant therapy, such as the SHC investigated here. Sixteen years since its original articulation, the term “civic agriculture” has taken on greater significance in research, political activism, and community organizing. Grown from the roots of civic community theory, civic agriculture functions as a new branch of civic community theory that is ripe for theorization. In revisiting the foundations of the term, this review paper seeks to consolidate current and future research in the field of civic agriculture with a focus on its link to social welfare. This begins by reviewing the foundations of civic community theory and discussing how they influence research related to civic agriculture. As we report in this paper, there remain considerable gaps in understanding of how civic agriculture can be fomented by—or is related to—indicators such as demographics, concentration of power, community cohesion, and civic engagement. Consequently, the assumed links between local food systems and social welfare must continue to be studied to determine correlation and causality. This understanding is particularly important during this time of global pandemic, when the flaws and inequities of global supply chains are exposed and where, in many cases, civic agriculture met the increasing interest in local food. The COVID-19 pandemic has amply demonstrated the fragility and instability of global food supply chains, making the need for local food systems more significant and more relevant to communities across the world.
