Tight-fitting N95 FFRs are respiratory protective devices (RPDs) designed to efficiently filter aerosols. During the COVID-19 pandemic, health care workers (HCWs) throughout the world continue to face shortages of disposable N95 FFRs. Existing version of widely available FDA cleared loose-fitting surgical masks with straps do not provide reliable protection against aerosols. We tested the faceseal of a modified strapless form-fitting sealed version of surgical mask using quantitative fit testing (QNFT) and compared the performance of this mask with that of N95 FFRs and unmodified loose-fitting surgical masks. Twenty HCWs participated in the study (10 women; 10 men; age 23-59 years). To create the sealed surgical masks, we removed the straps from loose-fitting surgical masks, made new folds, and used adhesive medical tape to secure the new design. All participants underwent QNFT with a loose-fitting surgical mask, the sealed surgical mask, and an N95 FFR; fit factors were recorded. Each QNFT was performed using a protocol of four exercises: (i) bending over, (ii) talking, (iii) moving head side to side, and (iv) moving head up and down. When the overall fit factor for the sealed surgical mask or N95 FFR was <100, the participant retook the test. Participants scored the breathability and comfort of the sealed surgical mask and N95 FFR on a visual analog scale (VAS) ranging from 0 (unfavorable) to 10 (favorable). The median fit factor for the sealed surgical mask (53.8) was significantly higher than that of the loose-fitting surgical mask (3.0) but lower than that of the N95 FFR (177.0) (P < 0.001), equating to significantly lower inward leakage of ambient aerosols (measuring 0.04-0.06 µm) with the sealed surgical mask (geometric mean 1.79%; geometric standard deviation 1.45%; range 0.97-4.03%) than with the loose-fitting surgical mask (29.5%; 2.01%; 25-100.0%) but still higher than with the N95 FFR (0.66%; 1.46%; 0.50-1.97%) (P < 0.001). Sealed surgical masks led to a marked reduction (range 60-98%) in inward leakage of aerosols in all the participants, compared to loose-fitting surgical masks. Among the exercises, talking had a greater effect on reducing overall fit factor for the sealed surgical mask than for the N95 FFR; when talking was excluded, the fit factor for the sealed surgical mask improved significantly (median 53.8 to 81.5; P < 0.001). The sealed surgical mask, when compared with the N95 FFR, offered better reported breathability (median VAS 9 versus 5; P < 0.001) and comfort (9 versus 5; P < 0.001). Widely available loose-fitting surgical masks can be easily modified to achieve faceseal with adhesives. Unlike loose-fitting surgical masks, sealed surgical masks can markedly reduce inward leakage of aerosols and may therefore offer useful levels of respiratory protection during an extreme shortage of N95 FFRs and could benefit HCWs who cannot comply with N95 FFRs due to intolerance. However, because a wide range of surgical masks is commercially available, individual evaluation of such masks is highly recommended before sealed versions are used as RPDs. The predictor variables of the outcome were female gender, above the secondary level of education, monthly income below 3000 ETB, and more than three family size at 95% CI, P&lt; 0.05.Conclusion: At the time of the initial COVID-19 pandemic in Ethiopia, nearly two-thirds of the respondents reported moderate to severe levels of psychological problems. A quantificação da cobertura florestal necessária e remanescente, tal como a pequena demanda de área para readequação de APP (5% da área total) permitem inferir que esses quesitos não são entraves para a regularização ambiental da agricultura familiar, nas propriedades analisadas.The Brazilian Forest Code of 1965 has defined and regulated the concepts of Permanent Preservation Areas (APP) and the Legal Reserve (RL). To regulate rural properties' compliance to the forest code, the State of Paraná introduced the SISLEG- Maintenance, Rehabilitation and Protection of Legal Reserve and Permanent Preservation Areas System. This study quantified, with the help of global positioning system (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the APPs and RLs of 147 properties in eight cities in East-central and Southeastern Paraná, aiming to analyze the environmental compliance of family-based rural properties to the Forest Code. A significant amount of forest cover was mapped, mainly as fragments of Araucaria Forest. The amount of forest cover is higher than the minimum required by law. Concerning the APPs about 67% of farms required some restoration while 26% of them are in accordance with the Code. The quantification of existing forest cover and that required by law, as well as the relatively small area necessary for the adjustment of the APPs (5% of total area) allows inferring that these questions are not barriers for the environmental regulation of the family-based surveyed farms. By administering a survey to 125 students of the English Language Education Program in a State Islamic University in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, using 26 items of a questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale, this study unravelled students’ responses in terms of three constructs including Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) and Perceived Instructor Characteristics (PIC). The findings suggested that in terms of PU, even though the data mostly demonstrated neutral responses for most of the questionnaire items, the students tended to perceive online learning as to provide flexible time for their learning and foster their autonomy/independence and confidence. However, the students tended to perceive online learning as less facilitating for their understanding of subjects. In terms of PEOU, the responses reflected the students’ readiness to employ online learning as the data suggested that they possessed both the technology and the knowledge to use it. However, they tended to encounter problems when operating the technology, especially concerning the internet connection. On the other hand, these students perceived instructor characteristics as mostly positive. Therefore, online learning seemed to have not been designed to engage all students, yet seemed to be an inevitable option during the outbreak as the report from the interviews demonstrated that F2F classes were still preferred over online learning. Finally, these findings imply the need for redesigning online learning to better engage students in virtual classes. Una de estas es el Reglamento de Canasta Básica Tributaria de Costa Rica (CBT), el cual establece una reducción en la carga impositiva a los alimentos consumidos por tales grupos, según la Encuesta Nacional de Ingresos y Gastos de los Hogares (ENIGH) de 2013. El objetivo de esta investigación es comparar el valor nutricional de la CBT y los requerimientos nutricionales para el caso del primer quintil de la ENIGH. El enfoque del estudio es cuantitativo y de tipo correlacional. La muestra la conforma el primer quintil de la ENIGH, 2013, compuesto por adultos sanos entre 19 y 60 años. El análisis se realizó durante el primer cuatrimestre de 2020, mediante un instrumento formulado en Excel, en el cual se elaboró un plan de alimentación con los productos de la CBT, calculando el contenido de energía, macronutrientes, ácidos grasos saturados, fibra, calcio, zinc, magnesio, vitamina E y vitamina D. Se identificó que el 46 % de ellos son fuente o buena fuente de alguno de los nutrientes en estudio y que 6 de los 11 nutrientes se adecuan satisfactoriamente a los requerimientos. Se concluyó que, a partir de dichos comestibles, se puede formular una dieta acorde a las necesidades nutricionales de una población, por cuanto la mayoría de los excesos y las deficiencias encontradas no son perjudiciales para la salud.
