Worldwide, the fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) is considered the most important pest of maize crop. Nucleopolyhedrovirus of Baculoviridae family have been successfully used in several countries for its control. However, in Colombia there are not any biopesticide registered for the control of this pest. In the present work, native nucleopolyhedrovirus were isolated from the departments of Tolima, Meta and Córdoba, by collecting larvae in different crops. Samples were analyzed by microscopy in order to find viral particles and the isolates were characterized physically and biologically. A total of 2,140 larvae of S. frugiperda were collected in the three sampled zones. However, larvae with viral infection symptoms in the field were found only in one place (Cereté, Córdoba). The 2% of the samples exhibited typical symptoms of infection and 3 isolates were identified and codified as NPV003 (Córdoba), NPV009 (Tolima) and NPV011 (Meta). Isolates showed a particle size between 1.93 mum and 2.14 mum. The mean lethal concentrations (LC50) over neonate larvae ranged between 2.2 x 105 CI/mL and 7.0 x 105 CI/mL and there were not statistical differences among isolates, suggesting that all have the same pathogenicity on neonate larvae of the insect. Currently, these native viruses represent the base for developing a new biological alternative for the control of this pest, being necessary to being the studies for their formulation</text>

During the years, since its implementation, Pronaf has become more structured and has significantly increased its action field. Alongside the increase of resources, contracts, and number of benefited agriculturists, an important innovation of this program was the inclusion of new lines of funding, either through inserting segments until then, excluded from the agricultural policies, or including, recognizing, and legitimizing different activities performed in rural areas, such as familiar agroindrustialization. This paper aims to analyze the family agroindustry oriented rural credit policy (Pronaf-agroindustry), evidencing the constitution, elaboration, implementation and results of this line of funding. Moreover, the paper discusses the process of reformulation in the access conditions to the credit during recent years, analyzing the new portfolio constituted by a program called Mais Alimentos. The results of this paper highlight the flexibility of Pronaf-Agroindustry's financial conditions (reduction of interest rate, increase of the financed ceiling, and spread of the target public), which changes significantly the policy focus (it no longer benefits small family agroindustries exclusively, but also includes major milk cooperatives).</text>

Development and application of technologies for establishing the spatial behavior of soils, allow to optimize the use of different agricultural resources in order to improve the sustainability and competitiveness, reducing the risk of environmental degradation and improving its profitability. The aim of this study was to evaluate the spatial variability and the relationships of some soil chemical properties, using different statistical techniques. The reseach was carried out in the municipality of Pasca (Cundinamarca) in a Cyphomandra betacea (Cav.) Sendtn. production area, in an Entisol. On a regular grid, 64 samples were taken, with perpendicular distances between points 25 x 12.5m, at 0.20m of depth, evaluating organic carbon, pH, Ca, Mg, K, sum of bases and Ca:Mg relation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, multivariate analysis, geostatistics and interpolation by kriging. The attributes showed low to medium variability, where the K was the only attribute that showed no spatial dependence. There was a strong relationship between cations, and a close relationship between Ca and the sum of bases. The contour maps confirmed the spatial variability of the properties, indicating the appropriateness of the agricultural inputs application at a variable rate. By adapting this methodology it is possible to improve the experimental design of future research, besides being the basis for the establishment of crops under precision agriculture concepts.</text>

<text>The present study is an analysis of the process of capital (re) territorialization over the past thirty years, (re) ordering the environment for its fluidity and action needs: firstly, under the auspices of the industrial and commercial capital, embodied by the sphere of agricultural modernization; and then, under the speculative capital, locus of the so-called re-ruralization of the Fluminense agrarian space. In both, there are profound transformations in the production structure and work relationships. The importance of this proposal resides in the different forms of agrarian organization and in the different ways it materializes itself on this environment .O presente trabalho constitui uma análise do processo de (re) territorialização do capital, ao longo dos últimos trinta anos, (re) ordenando o espaço sob suas necessidades de atuação e fluidez: em um primeiro momento sob a égide do capital industrial e comercial, corporificado pela esfera da modernização agrícola; e, posteriormente, sob a do capital imobiliário especulativo, lócus da chamada re-ruralização do espaço agrário fluminense.

<text>Recently, innumerable alterations have been observed in rural areas, such as the introduction of new technologies, agro-industrial integration and valuing of these areas as living and leisure places, having delicious and healthy products. In the wake of these transformations, some farmers have begun to realize that there are new possibilities of generating income. One of these opportunities has arisen through the development ofagro-industrial production as a typical activity of family agriculture. By an interest in this subject, this article aims to verify if there are distinctions, and what are the distinctions between rural agro-industries of family andnon-family agriculture, to the level of Brazil. Initially, rural agro-industries that are heterogeneous among them have been highlighted, being difficult to make inferences on aggregated data. However, the separation of data between agro-industries of family agriculture (FA) and non-family agriculture (NFA) has already made possible a cutout. Based on this assumption, some variables were selected from the Agricultural Census of 2006 to infer on eight products from the rural agro-industry. This way, through these data and variables, it was possible to identify that the rural agro-industry is more numerous in family establishments, as well as its total production coming mainly from it, with the exception of two products which production, between FA and NFA, is basically equivalent. Through the variable scale of production for the six analyzed products, it was possible to verify that they were above in NFA, and two in FA. The NFA is also highlighted with acquired raw material and commercialization in a greater proportion. In addition, commercialization channels are practically identical, with some exception, as long as the FA sells more to the final consumer and NFA to intermediate consumers. The conclusion have indicated that the distinctions between these two types of agro-industries are strongly connected to the logistics that manage them, once, in the majority of the proprieties of NFA, there is specialization and diversity in FA, what generates, consequently, distinct manners of operating in their agroindustries.</text>
