                <text>A cama de frango gerada no processo produtivo das aves demonstra grande potencial para a obtenção de energia com o uso de biodigestores, porém é preciso que ela apresente algumas condições como separação de sólidos, para facilitar o processo. Objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar a produção de biogás no processo de biodigestão anaeróbia da cama de frango com separação de sólidos, em diferentes diluições, com e sem utilização de 20% de reciclo (biofertilizante) em sistema batelada de abastecimento. Foram utilizados 24 biodigestores batelada, com capacidade de 2L de substrato em fermentação. O equipamento utilizado para processamento da cama de frango foi uma bomba trituradora que homogeneíza e tritura a cama em partículas menores para facilitar e melhorar a eficiência na biodigestão. Para a separação da fração sólida foi utilizada uma peneira vibratória com malha de 1mm. Foram estudadas as diluições 1:8, 1:10 e 1:12 e 20% de reciclo em substituição a água. O tratamento cama de frango na diluição 1:8 foi o que apresentou maior redução de sólidos voláteis (72,76%) em relação aos outros tratamentos. O tratamento com reciclo na diluição 1:8 foi o que apresentou maior produção de biogás com valor médio de 0,0328 m3, em relação aos demais tratamentos. Conclui-se que a utilização do reciclo não interfere e provoca aumento na produção de biogás.</text>

                <text>A high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was developed for the simultaneous isolation, on a semi-preparative scale, of chavibetol and methyleugenol from the crude essential oil of P. pseudocaryophyllus leaves. The purity of the isolated compounds and their quantifications were developed using GC/FID. Chavibetol was isolated with high purity (98.7%) and mass recovery (94.6%). The mass recovery (86.4%) and purity (85.3%) of methyleugenol were lower than those of chavibetol. Both compounds were identified on the basis of spectral analysis. The results suggest that the method can provide chavibetol with high purity, mass recovery, and productivity from crude essential, which will be used in bioassays against stored insect pests.</text>

                <text>The salinity is considered the major constraint to agriculture worldwide, constituting a limiting factor to growth, plant development, agricultural productivity and soil deterioration. In this direction an experiment was carried out during the period October/2009 to February/2010, in greenhouse conditions in Areia county, Paraiba State, PB, Brazil, in order to evaluate the effects of water saline on initial growth of papaya Hawaii in non-saline substrate with bovine rich biofertilizer. The substrate was material of the first 0.10 m of a Regolitic Entisol non saline. The treatments were distributed in completely randomized in six replication using the factorial design 5 x 2, corresponding to levels of irrigation water saline: 0.5; 1.0; 2.0; 3.0 and 4.0 dS m-1, in soil without and with rich biofertilizer applied to soil in liquid form one time two days before seed sowing, at level of 10% of the substrate volume. The increment of salinity water irrigation inhibited alls variables studied in papaya’s plants, but with less range in treatments with bovine biofertilizer.A salinidade é considerada um dos principais entraves para agricultura em todo mundo, constituindose num dos fatores limitantes ao crescimento, desenvolvimento das plantas, produtividade agrícola e depauperamento do solo. Nesse sentido, um experimento foi desenvolvido no período de Outubro de 2009 a Fevereiro de 2010, em ambiente telado, no município de Areia – PB, para avaliar a influência da salinidade da água de irrigação no crescimento do mamão Havaí em substrato não salino com biofertilizante rico. O substrato utilizado foi o material dos primeiros 0,10 m de um NEOSSOLO REGOLITICO não salino. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 5 x 2, referente aos valores de condutividade elétrica da água de irrigação: 0,5; 1,0; 2,0; 3,0 e 4,0 dS m-1, em solo sem e com biofertilizante líquido, com seis repetições. O biofertilizante rico, depois de diluído em água não salina (0,5 dS m-1) na razão de 1:1 foi aplicado uma única vez, dois dias antes da semeadura, em nível de 10% do volume do substrato. O aumento da salinidade da água de irrigação provocou perdas sobre todas as variáveis avaliadas nas plantas, mas com menor intensidade nos tratamentos com biofertilizante.</text>

                <text>Este trabalho apresenta alguns resultados e discussões sobre pesquisa concluída que se desenvolve em torno das relações entre agricultores-feirantes e consumidores, referente ao processo de comercialização e às demais interações possíveis, em dois municípios do Oeste do Paraná: Marechal Cândido Rondon e Medianeira. Os objetivos: analisar o significado e a importância das feiras para os atores envolvidos; analisar as representações das feiras nas práticas alimentares envolvendo hábitos, cultura, identidades alimentares e identidades produtivas. A abordagem teórica norteadora do trabalho é da sociologia e antropologia rural e socioantropologia da alimentação. A metodologia foi essencialmente qualitativa, com aplicação de entrevista semiestruturada a 12 agricultores-feirantes; 10 consumidores em Marechal Cândido Rondon e 10 agricultores-feirantes; 10 consumidores em Medianeira. Dentre alguns resultados, é possível inferir que os frequentadores das feiras são atraídos não apenas pela opção de alimentos de origem que consideram como sendo mais confiável, mas também porque o espaço da feira lhes proporciona importantes interações com os agricultores e com outros frequentadores. Para os agricultores, a feira é uma importante fonte de renda, mas também é uma manifestação enquanto representação social, de suas peculiaridades como atores fundamentais no processo da cultura e da segurança alimentar. Neste sentido, é muito importante manter os espaços das feiras, compreendendo-as como lugares de resistência no processo socioalimentar contemporâneo e de articulação nas relações de sociabilidade local.</text>

                <text>Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are soil bacteria that have the ability to colonize the rhizosphere and favor the growth of plants through several mechanisms, such as phytohormone production, biological fixation in nitrogen (BNF), increased efficiency in uptake of nutrients in the soil, and greater tolerance to water stress or disease attack. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of inoculation of different growth promoting bacteria on the development of canola plants. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse with a completely randomized design. Four treatments were evaluated: control - without inoculation, Azospirillum brasilense of strain Ab-V5, Rhizobium sp. strain 8121, and Bacillus sp. strain CM. The height parameter of plants was evaluated weekly, starting at 25 days after sowing (DAS). At the end of the evaluations, at 53 DAS, the length of the main root, the dry mass of the aerial part and the root system were measured. The canola showed a linear increase in height from 25 to 53 DAS. Bacillus sp. negatively influenced the growth of the plants, reducing their height in periods 25, 32 and 39 DAS in relation to the control group. A. brazilense. yielded 2.64 times more dry root mass (0.7 g plant-1) than the control plants (0.3 g plant-1). Even though Rhizobium sp. produced an increase in the length of the main root, this was not reflected in an increment of dry mass in the root system. The greatest development of the root system was provided by A. brazilense.</text>

                <text>Este artigo tenta estabelecer que a modernização agrícola dentro dos países do terceiro mundo acarreta enormes incompreensões sabiamente alimentadas pelas elites modernizadoras. Estas últimas justificam suas políticas e projetos de desenvolvimento agrícola por uma bela retórica sobre a situação miserável da agricultura familiar e sua sobrevivência, mas na verdade suprimem-se os trabalhadores do campo reduzidos a uma categoria residual da economia nacional. O autor propõe um quadro teórico que define as lógicas antagonísticas que são a base da organização dos trabalhadores do campo tradicionais e aquela da agricultura moderna. Ele mostra que a lógica tradicional da produção da segurança de vida a nível local não pode se casar com aquela da produção de um excedente mobilizável com vistas à acumulação a nível nacional. O pão cotidiano contra a grandeza da nação, aí está resumido ao máximo o dilema que oferece aos trabalhadores do campo tradicionais o jogo da modernização agrícola.                 <text>A agricultura orgânica é ainda pouco expressiva no Brasil. Sua relevância é, no entanto, crescente, seguindo tendência observada em outros países, em especial na Europa. Este estudo analisa as características básicas do produtor de produtos orgânicos, contribuindo para preencher uma lacuna existente na literatura de economia rural. Utilizando informações primárias sobre agricultores orgânicos da região próxima à cidade de Curitiba, Paraná, identificamos as suas características pessoais e econômicas, por meio de estatística descritiva, análise de correlação e regressão linear múltipla. Os produtores foram divididos em dois grupos: o primeiro com aqueles que ainda estão em conversão para a agricultura orgânica e o segundo grupo composto por produtores orgânicos que já obtiveram a certificação de seus produtos. Os resultados obtidos indicam que alta participação de capital próprio no financiamento da produção e elevado nível de escolaridade são duas das características mais marcantes dos produtores rurais orgânicos paranaenses. Outras características que influenciam o resultado líquido da atividade são a disponibilidade de mão de obra e a integração de atividades agrícolas, pecuárias e florestais.Organic agriculture is still inexpressive in Brazil. Its relevance, however, has been growing significantly, following international trends. This study analyzes basic characteristics of organic producers, contributing to the present level of knowledge on this matter in Brazil. Using primary data on organic farmers of a region close to Curitiba, in the southern state of Paraná, we identify their main personal, technical and economic characteristics. Our sample farmers were divided into two groups: farmers in the stage of conversion toward organic agriculture and farmers already certified as organic producers. Results indicate the influence of the education level and of other professional experiences as key elements to characterize organic producers. Other relevant aspects are labor availability and integration of farming, livestock and forest activities.</text>

                <text>O desenvolvimento e a viabilidade da agricultura familiar ao longo do tempo tem sido alvo de intensos debates em torno de temas como a reforma agrária de determinadas regiões e a capacidade de reprodução social no campo. Recentemente vários assentamentos rurais foram implantados no Brasil, buscando-se encaminhar tais discussões no contexto do desenvolvimento sustentável. O objetivo geral do presente estudo é avaliar a dinâmica inovativa e o investimento no Projeto de Desenvolvimento Sustentável Bonal, Senador Guiomard, Acre. Trabalha-se com indicadores específicos de avaliação da produção familiar rural. Os resultados indicam baixa incidência de efetivos agricultores familiares, bem como uma propensão negativa a investir entre a maioria das unidades produtivas.</text>

                <text>A Amazônia brasileira é uma região com particularidades que requerem tratamento diferenciado quando se trata de planejar e incentivar seu desenvolvimento. A questão que conduz a análise deste artigo é: como implantar políticas de desenvolvimento rural para a Amazônia, levando em conta a ampliação da presença do Estado, o uso sustentável de sua imensa biodiversidade e a redução das desigualdades sociais? A hipótese é que o estabelecimento de patamares diferenciados e sustentáveis para o desenvolvimento rural da Amazônia pressupõe a atuação governamental de forma ampla e integrada e espaços de diálogo tendo em vista a heterogeneidade dos agentes que nele atuam. Importante formar estruturas de governança que coordenem os interesses manifestados frente às oportunidades (e aos impactos ambientais e sociais) de desenvolvimento. Essas estruturas pressupõem a transmissão de informações, o provimento de incentivos e o exercício de controle entre os agentes. O objetivo deste artigo é abordar as ações de governo e das forças sociais regionais, especialmente para apontar as condições do estímulo à participação dos agricultores familiares no desenvolvimento rural da Amazônia</text>
