It is used to make “merkén”, a condiment that is consumed locally and exported. This vegetable requires a nursery stage and can obtain nutritional benefits from symbiotic associations such as mycorrhizal fungi, achieving a better adaptation to transplanting. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are obligate biotrophes appearing in abundance in agroecosystems with conservation management. The aim of this study was to compare effectiveness of two AMF, a commercial mycorrhizal inoculant (IC, Glomus intraradices) and another native (IN, Glomus claroideum) with a control without inoculation (-I) on the production and quality of “Cacho de cabra”. At 45 days after sowing (DAS) transplanting was carried out and at 90 and 216 DAS fruit quality, fungal and edaphic parameters were evaluated. The harvest was at four stages. With IN inoculation plants and with greater foliar area were obtained. Also, precocity of fruit production was observed. The harvest started 49 days earlier and fresh weight was 177% higher than that of the control. Root colonization was low, showing significant differences between IN and IC, while a large number of spores was produced in the substrate. It was concluded that inoculation with native fungi decreased transplanting stress thus accelerating the maturation stage of plants and resulting in higher and better yield quality.En el sur de Chile, agricultores mapuches han cultivado durante décadas ecotipos locales de ají (Capsicum annuum L.)“Cacho de cabra” para elaborar “merkén”, producto con reconocidas ventajas en el mercado internacional. Esta hortaliza requiere etapa de almácigo, pudiendo beneficiarse nutricionalmente con la asociación simbiótica del tipo micorrizas,logrando una mejor adaptación al trasplante. Los hongos micorrícicos arbusculares son biótrofos obligados abundantes en agrosistemas con manejo conservacionista. El objetivo de este estudio fue comparar, en invernadero, el efecto de la inoculación de dos hongos, uno comercial, Glomus intraradices (IC), y otro nativo, Glomus claroideum (IN), con un testigo sin inoculación (-I) sobre la producción y calidad de ají “Cacho de cabra”. A los 45 días después de la siembra (DDS) se realizó el trasplante y a los 90 y 216 DAS se evaluaron parámetros de calidad del fruto, fúngicos y edáficos. La cosecha fue escalonada en cuatro etapas. Con la inoculación de IN se obtuvieron plantas de mayor altura y área foliar que mostraron mayor velocidad de desarrollo del fruto adelantándose la cosecha en 49 días y con aumentos en el peso fresco de 177% en relación al control. La colonización en las raíces de ají fue baja con diferencias significativas entre IN e IC, mientras que una gran cantidad de esporas permaneció en el sustrato. Son espacios de producción grupal en torno a las propuestas territoriales y locales que contribuyen al desarrollo local así como también a la planificación estratégica por zonas, barrios y/o región.En relación con el medio ambiente, la iniciativa implica algunas contribuciones como mejorar las condiciones sanitarias del área y fortalecer la biodiversidad ya que se pueden producir especies autóctonas de valor local. Por otra parte, se vincula a un manejo sustentable de los recursos naturales, particularmente en lo que respecta a manejo del suelo y del agua. Brinda además la posibilidad de producir alimentos de alto valor ecológico, es decir libres de agrotóxicos. No Rio Grande do Sul, sancionou-se o Decreto nº 49.341/2012, criando o Programa Estadual da Agroindústria Familiar – PEAF, que tem como um de seus objetivos gerais legalizar as agroindústrias familiares. Nesse contexto, questiona-se: que vantagens e/ou desvantagens tem o agricultor familiar com a legalização de sua agroindústria? Para elucidar essa questão, objetivou-se analisar, a partir da percepção dos gestores, a realidade pós-legalização das agroindústrias familiares rurais do setor de derivados de farináceos (panificados e massas) no Conselho Regional de Desenvolvimento – COREDE Fronteira Noroeste. Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa exploratória, fazendo uso de um questionário e de uma entrevista semiestruturada para coletar os dados em uma amostra de 18 agroindústrias de derivados de farináceos. Entre os resultados alcançados, destacam-se a possibilidade de comercializar produtos via políticas públicas, como o Programa Nacional da Alimentação Escolar – PNAE e o Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos – PAA, o aumento da clientela e, também, do volume de produtos comercializados, como as principais vantagens da legalização das agroindústrias; e o pagamento de taxas e impostos, como principal desvantagem. Além disso, revelou-se, também, a dificuldade de os gestores realizarem todo o processo inerente à legalização das agroindústrias. Igualmente, en los parámetros antes mencionados, se evaluó el efecto de un promotor fúngico utilizado como control del mismo hongo en ambas agriculturas. La investigación se dividió en una fase de campo y una de laboratorio. En la fase de campo, realizada durante siete meses de 1999, se acompañó la siembra, el desarrollo del cultivo y evolución de la enfermedad a través de la determinación de la incidencia y su severidad. En el laboratorio se determinó la actividad enzimática proteasa, fosfatasa ácida, fosfatasa alcalina, celulasa, así como también el pH y porcentaje de materia orgánica. Se encontró que en el manejo agrícola orgánico la actividad de la fosfatasa ácida, la fosfatasa alcalina y la proteasa así como también el pH fueron más influenciados por el estado de desarrollo de las plantas que por efecto del los tratamientos utilizados en el control del hongo. En el manejo agrícola convencional la actividad enzimática de las celulasas fue inhibida significativamente por los fungicidas. La actividad de las proteasas y fosfatasas ácidas fueron estimuladas por efecto de los fungicidas comerciales y por el estado de desarrollo de las plantas. Las actividades enzimáticas fosfatasa ácida, proteasa y celulasa presentaron comportamientos significativamente diferentes entre los cultivos convencional y orgánico. Para el control de la enfermedad, el uso de los fungicidas fue el tratamiento que mejores resultados presentó con una mayor producción de papa pero con mayores gastos de producción, mientras que la utilización de los elicitores y la aplicación del purín de chipaca (Bidens pilosum) no controlaron la expresión de la enfermedad. Furthermore, we assessed the extract’s antioxidant properties by using the DPPH, ABTS, and lipid peroxidation assays and found that the extract had a moderate scavenging effect. In an experiment involving preexposition and coexposition of the extract (1–500 µg/mL) and benzo[a]pyrene (BP), the extract was found to be nontoxic to C9 cells in culture and to inhibit the cytotoxicity induced by BP. As BP is biotransformed by CYP1A and CYP2B subfamilies, we explored the possible interaction of the extract with these enzymes. The extract (25–50 µg/mL) inhibited CYP1A1 activity in rat liver microsomes. Analysis of the inhibition kinetics revealed a mixed-type inhibitory effect on CYP1A1 supersome. The effects of the extract on BP-induced DNA damage and hepatic CYP activity in mice were also investigated. Micronuclei induction by BP and liver CYP1A1/2 activities significantly decreased in animals treated with the extract. The results suggest that Ulva fasciata aqueous-ethanolic extract inhibits BP bioactivation and it may be a potential chemopreventive agent. In Argentina, the importance of these insects has been recognized since the mid-nineteenth century, depending on the region considered and in relation to the progressive development of agriculture. Fungi are the most frequently found microorganisms parasitizing insects in nature, and most of the entomopathogenic fungi investigations have been focused on their development as biopesticides. Title A name given to the resource Conocimientos y prácticas ancestrales y tradicionales fortalecen la sustentabilidad de los sistemas hortícolas de la parroquia de San Joaquín Creator An entity primarily responsible for making the resource Juan Gerardo Loyola Illescas Description An account of the resource El presente estudio lleva a establecer si los conocimientos y práctica ancestrales y tradicionales que desarrollan los agricultores de la parroquia de San Joaquín del Cantón Cuenca, fortalecen la sustentabilidad de los sistemas hortícolas.   Para conocer si estos sistemas se mantienen productivos a través del tiempo se utilizó el Marco para la Evaluación de Sistemas de Manejo de Recursos Naturales incorporando Indicadores de Sustentabilidad (MESMIS), comparando las prácticas productivas de una finca convencional con nueve fincas agroecológicas, donde se estableció los puntos críticos de los sistemas hortícolas para en el futuro modificarlos y lograr sistemas productivos más sustentables a pesar de ser intensivos.   En el estudio se estableció en la dimensión ambiental logra un mínimo del 2.8/5 (56%) y como máximo al 3.8/5  (76%), dentro de la dimensión social se establece un valor mínimo de 3.2/5  (64%) y un valor máximo de 4.8/5  (96%), y la dimensión económica con un valor mínimo de 2.6/5 (52%) y máximo del 4.8/5 (96%).      Los sistemas hortícolas se establece que cuentan con un grado de sustentabilidad significativo, debido a que las tres dimensiones agroecológicas se encuentran por encima del promedio, debido a que los campesinos desarrollan diversas prácticas ancestrales, tradicionales y culturales dentro de los agroecosistemas como: en lo social; la asociatividad interna de las familias para la producción y comercialización, en la producción; la asociación, la rotación y la biodiversidad, logrando una producción diversificada que genera los beneficios económicos  para mejorar la calidad de vida de cada uno de los integrantes que conforman la familia campesina. One of the technical bottlenecks of macaw fruit production is the manual harvesting with rudimentary tools and the extractive system, which has a very large dependence on labor. The objective of this work was to develop the informational and conceptual design of a semi-mechanized harvesting system that can be used in adverse conditions of relief, also directed to the needs of family farmers. In this work the concept of a low cost macaw harvester is proposed, which works by the principle of mechanical vibrations, and is able to work efficiently in planted and natural plantations. From an adaptation of the Pahl and Beitz method for the development of machine designs, and the use of the evolution prototyping method, integration prototypes were constructed, which underwent a preliminary field test. Some modifications were made in portable coffee breakers, which constituted changes in the vibration signal generation system that were transmitted to macaw fruits at the head / plant interface. Only one of the built prototypes was considered effective and suitable for subsequent performance (product under patent registration). For the detailed design, CAD (Computer Aided Design) techniques were employed. Later, it was possible to observe the validation of efficiency of the macaw fruit harvest by the principle of mechanical vibrations. Under field conditions, field trials demonstrated that the average harvest efficiency for the proposed model with vibrating rods was 97.4% and the average harvesting capacity was 566.91 kg h-1.
