El sésamo (Sesamum indicum L.) es una de las oleaginosas más antiguas cultivadas debido a su alto potencial como confitero y aceitero. En Paraguay su cultivo adquiere mayor importancia en los últimos años, debido a su adaptación eficiente a los suelos de mediana a baja fertilidad; constituyéndose en una de las principales actividades económicas de la agricultura familiar rural. Una de las limitaciones que presenta al momento de la siembra es la deficiencia hídrica que puede perjudicar en un 20 a 30% en la emergencia del cultivo. Por tanto, el objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar la incidencia de la aplicación del riego complementario en el rendimiento de granos del cultivo de sésamo. Los experimentos se realizaron en dos periodos agrícolas, (2016 - 2017 y 2017 - 2018) utilizando cuatro y seis variedades, correspondiente a Escoba, SH 1, Dorado, PF 6 y Escoba, SH 1, INIA, IP 10, K2, K7, respectivamente. El diseño experimental utilizado fue en bloques completos al azar con cuatro repeticiones y cuatro variedades para el primer periodo y seis variedades con tres repeticiones para el segundo periodo agrícola. Para cada experimento se utilizó parcela con riego por aspersión en tres ocasiones, a intervalos de 10 días y 80 minutos cada vez y por un periodo de 45 días y otra parcela sin riego. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que hubo efecto altamente significativo con la aplicación del riego para ambos periodos agrícolas, principalmente para las variedades SH 1 y Escoba con un rendimiento de granos de 1.140 y 1.091 kg ha-1, respectivamente, representando un aumento de 54% y 58%, respecto al control parcela sin riego. Por ende, los efectos de la incidencia de la aplicación de riego complementario en suelos agrícolas deben considerarse para estimar el impacto potencial sobre el rendimiento de grano en las diferentes variedades de sésamo.

Analisou-se a relação entre adubação mineral e orgânica sobre a incidência de míldio (Peronospora destructor) em cebola (Allium cepa). O trabalho constituiu-se de dois experimentos localizados em Ituporanga, conduzidos entre agosto e dezembro de 1998. O experimento 1, com fontes orgânicas, constou dos tratamentos: esterco de suínos, esterco de aves, composto, esterco de peru e húmus, na dosagem de 75 kg/ha de N; esterco de suínos, na dosagem de 37,5 kg/ha de N; adubação mineral, 30-120-60 kg/ha de N-P2O5-K2O; 60-240-120 kg/ha de N-P2O5-K2O e testemunha sem adubação. O experimento 2 constou dos tratamentos: fontes minerais, 30-120-60 kg/ha de N-P2O5-K2O; 90-360-180 kg/ha de N-P2O5-K2O; 75 kg/ha de N; 225 kg/ha de N; 80 kg/ha de P2O5; 240 kg/ha de P2O5; 60 kg/ha de K2O; 180 kg/ha de K2O; esterco de suínos + fosfato natural, em três combinações, 7,9+0,1, 15,7+0,2 e 47,2+0,6 t/ha, respectivamente; testemunha sem adubação. Não houve diferença entre as fontes mineral e orgânica sobre a incidência de míldio. A relação entre nutrientes e doença foi variável entre datas de amostragem e distinta para fontes minerais e orgânicas.The incidence of downy mildew, Peronospora destructor Berk. Casp., in onion growing in chemical and organic fertilized plots was evaluated in Ituporanga, Santa Catarina State, Brazil. Two experiments were carried out between August to December 1998. The treatments in the first experiment with organic sources were: 75.0 kg/ha of N (swine manure; poultry manure; compost; turkey manure; humus); 37.5 kg/ha of N (swine manure half dose); control (NPK, 30-120-60 kg/ha of N-P2O5-K2O) and double rate of NPK (60-240-120 kg/ha of N-P2O5-K2O); and unfertilized control. In mineral fertilization experiment, the mineral levels were 1 and 3 times the recommended rates based on soil analysis: 30-120-60 kg/ha of N-P2O5-k2O; 90-360-180 kg/ha of N-P2O5-K2O; 75.0 kg/ha of N; 225.0 kg/ha of N; 80.0 kg/ha of P2O5; 240.0 kg/ha of P2O5; 60.0 kg/ha of K(2)0; 180.0 kg/ha of K(2)0. Control plots with organic fertilization received swine manure + phosphate rock in three treatments (75.0 kg/ha of N + 80.0 kg/ha of P2O5; 225.0 kg/ha of N + 240.0 kg/ha of P2O5; 37.5 kg/ha of N + 40.0 kg/ha of P2O5) and unfertilized check. Downy mildew incidence was similar between treatments with fertilizer and no fertilizer check. Mineral fertilization did not increase downy mildew incidence compared to the organic treatments. The relationship between nutrient and disease varied according to sampling date and differed for mineral and organic sources.

El presente artículo esta dado a sustentar las políticas económicas y el impacto ambiental que causan los desechos sólidos que se produce en la Provincia de El Oro del Ecuador; se expresó como problemática principal: Qué políticas económicas han incidido en el impacto ambiental de los desechos sólidos de la Provincia de El Oro del Ecuador, período 2010 – 2013. La investigación fue mixta: “Aplicada” en la primera parte, luego “explicativa”, “longitudinal” y finalmente “cuantitativa” y “correlacionada”, de acuerdo a la finalidad de la misma. Los resultados hallados fueron: de los datos estadísticos aportado por los Gobiernos Autónomos Descentralizados (GAD) Municipales de los cantones de la provincia de El Oro, presentados en forma global, los gastos ejecutados fueron mayores a los ingresos obtenidos por la tasa de recolección de basura, lo que generó un subsidio del presupuesto general del estado por 10 031 893,38 USD, es decir, se mantuvo un déficit presupuestario en el manejo de los desechos sólidos en un promedio del 41%, conforme lo demuestra la gráfica No. 5. En conclusión, se sustenta que es admisible bajar el riesgo del impacto ambiental negativo de la provincia, y que su impacto se convierta en positivo para el buen vivir.

Los policultivos juegan un papel importante en la biodiversidad de un agroecosistema, estos promueven servicios ecológicos tales como reciclaje de nutrientes, control biológico de plagas, enfermedades y arvenses, incremento en la producción de biomasa, conservación de suelos y agua, mejoramiento de calidad físico-química del suelo, reducción de la toxicidad al evitar o disminuir el uso de pesticidas. El estudio se realizó en el municipio Tisma, Masaya en la finca “El Chagüite” en los meses de Septiembre a Noviembre del 2014, con el objetivo de estudiar el efecto de dos sistemas de siembra, cultivo puro y policultivo, sobre la ocurrencia poblacional de artrópodos plagas y benéficos e incidencia poblacional del ataque del ácaro blanco en el cultivo de chiltoma. Para el desarrollo de la investigación se establecieron cuatro parcelas, una con el arreglo en policultivos (chiltoma, maíz, tomate, yuca y quequisque) y los restantes se establecieron con cultivo puro de chiltoma, maíz y tomate. Las variables evaluadas semanalmente fueron la ocurrencia poblacional de artrópodos plagas y benéficos, ocurrencia del ácaro blanco y el rendimiento obtenido en los cultivos de chiltoma, maíz y tomate para el análisis del uso equivalente de la tierra (UET). En general se observó una tendencia de menor ocurrencia de plagas, menor densidad poblacional de ácaro blanco, mayor densidad poblacional de artrópodos benéficos y un mejor aprovechamiento de la tierra por unidad de área en el sistema de siembra de policultivo.

En Nicaragua severidad de patógenos que cusan enfermedades en plátano (Musa paradisiaca L.) ha afectado los rendimientos e ingreso que este cultivo proporciona a los pequeños, medianos y grandes productores del país. La seguridad alimentaria que el cultivo proporciona a los productores se ha visto amenazada por enfermedades que afectan a la planta y sus frutos. Con el objetivo de determinar la incidencia y severidad de enfermedades en plátano, se realizó este estudio entre enero a septiembre del 2014 en Rivas. Se hicieron colectas de material enfermo en seis fincas plataneras de Rivas. Los patógenos fueron identificados en los laboratorios del Instituto de Protección y Sanidad Agropecuaria en Rivas y confirmados en laboratorios de la Universidad Nacional Agraria. Las variables evaluadas en este estudio fueron, porcentaje de incidencia y severidad de daño de Sigatoka negra por planta, área bajo la curva de progreso de la enfermedad de Sigatoka negra, porcentaje de incidencia de daño de las enfermedades pudrición acuosa de las musáceas y de punta de cigarro. Como resultados del estudio se identificaron los siguientes patógenos en plátano: Micosphaerella fijiensis, Erwinia sp y Verticillium sp., de manera general se observó que la incidencia y severidad de todos los agentes causales de enfermedades reflejaron un comportamiento similar en las seis fincas, estos agentes se presentaron en todos los meses de muestreo, sin embargo, los mayores porcentajes de severidad se manifestaron en los meses de agosto y septiembre del 2014 con porcentajes que oscilaron entre el 60 % y 67 %, la mayor área bajo la curva de progreso de la enfermedad se presentó en la finca La Zopilota, seguido de San Alberto y La Granja, la menor área bajo la curva de progreso de la enfermedad se presentó en la finca El Espíritu, El Trapiche y Valentina.

El cambio climático, entre otros factores, ha tenido un impacto significativo en el rendimiento de algunos cultivos. Por lo que resulta importante identificar caracteres en los genotipos de cítricos injertados que permitan disminuir el daño de algunas enfermedades fungosas como Mycosphaerella citri para lograr un mejor manejo en campo. El objetivo del trabajo fue evaluar la incidencia y severidad natural de la Mancha grasienta (M. citri) de diferentes variedades de naranja injertadas en la (EESuX), UAEM. Se plantaron 16 combinaciones con genotipos diferentes de árboles, en un arreglo espacial rectangular y un diseño completamente al azar a una densidad de 357 plantas por ha-1. La incidencia de manchas grasientas ocasionada por M. citri en hojas y su intensidad en el ensayo fueron registradas, a la vez que se midieron los efectos de las temperaturas, precipitaciones y H. R en relación con el desarrollo del patógeno. Los resultados indicaron que las combinaciones de Naranjo Agrio-Mars y Volkameriano-Hamlim fueron las de mayor incidencia de mancha grasienta. La mayor severidad de la enfermedad fue registrada en la combinación Volkameriano-Hamlin. Todas las variedades sobre patrón Volkameriano fueron sensibles a la enfermedad, mientras que las injertadas sobre Citrange C-35 fueron poco afectadas.

Abstract Background The purpose of this case report is to emphasize the importance of curing any clinical radiological elements in this historical period, especially in the area of endemic to coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) such as Lombardy and to stress the importance of the management of the asymptomatic patient, their crucial role in the spread of contagion. Case presentation We reported the case of incidental diagnosis of interstitial pneumonia by first finding on whole-body MR (WB-MR) in the patient affected by multiple myeloma (MM), with a negative respiratory symptoms at the time and with previous (1 month before) negative chest X-ray. The patient was promptly subjected to chest CT, which confirmed the suspicion of interstitial COVID-19 pneumonia and, in hospitalization, performed nasopharyngeal swabs for real-time polymerase chain reaction (RNA-PCR), with a doubtful outcome. Once the bacterial nature of the alterations was serologically and radiologically excluded, the patient was definitively diagnosed with COVID-19 and appropriately treated in hospitalization. Conclusion The clinical choices must, therefore, to make use of all the diagnostic tools available and full knowledge of the limitation of each of them.

Abstract Background Against a background of pandemic threat posed by SARS and avian H5N1 influenza, this study used deliberative forums to elucidate informed community perspectives on aspects of pandemic planning. Methods Two deliberative forums were carried out with members of the South Australian community. The forums were supported by a qualitative study with adults and youths, systematic reviews of the literature and the involvement of an extended group of academic experts and policy makers. The forum discussions were recorded with simultaneous transcription and analysed thematically. Results Participants allocated scarce resources of antiviral drugs and pandemic vaccine based on a desire to preserve society function in a time of crisis. Participants were divided on the acceptability of social distancing and quarantine measures. However, should such measures be adopted, they thought that reasonable financial, household and psychological support was essential. In addition, provided such support was present, the participants, in general, were willing to impose strict sanctions on those who violated quarantine and social distancing measures. Conclusions The recommendations from the forums suggest that the implementation of pandemic plans in a severe pandemic will be challenging, but not impossible. Implementation may be more successful if the public is engaged in pandemic planning before a pandemic, effective communication of key points is practiced before and during a pandemic and if judicious use is made of supportive measures to assist those in quarantine or affected by social isolation measures.

Este trabajo propone la inclusión de la perspectiva de interseccionalidad y la justicia reproductiva en el marco del cambio climático y el abordaje de las políticas públicas de mitigación desde la perspectiva bioética. Plantea la vulnerabilidad que viven los grupos marginados y las inequidades interseccionales como el eje central en la falta de autonomía y libertad reproductiva; y cómo esas inequidades se exacerban con el cambio climático, afectando mayormente a mujeres pobres, indígenas, afrodescendientes, y migrantes. Se propone el principio de igualdad de trato y de oportunidades entre mujeres y hombres, el empoderamiento económico y educativo de las mujeres, su participación e integración en las decisiones políticas sobre el cambio climático, y la inclusión de la transversalidad de género en la discusión y análisis de la crisis climática. Llamamos a una conciencia ética bajo el eje de la biofilia o liga básica con el todo de la vida y el proceso de evolución propuesta por O. Wilson y seguida por L. Sagols.
