This study examined the implications of migration on the social construction of rural youth and its consequences on the family farming. In terms of methodology, the research was conducted in the case study format and held in the city of Itapuranga, state of Goiás, in March 2014. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with social workers involved in migration and also bibliographic research, documentary research and unsystematic observations. The transformations in the socialization of young people triggered the construction of a migrant rural youth, whose social horizons were expanded from the local to the global limit with the emergence of international migration along the internal migration. These migrations also favored emptying, aging and masculinization of family farming, causing difficulties in social reproduction. In summary, migrations have shown new ways to live the youth in rural areas and transformed the existing social relationships, requiring a different perspective of development. A sample of 4527 adults living in Norway were recruited via social media. Data related to suicide thoughts and attempts, alcohol use, pandemic-related concerns, and sociodemographic variables were collected. Associations with suicide thoughts were analyzed with logistic regression analysis. In the sample, 3.6% reported suicide thoughts during the last month, while 0.2% had attempted suicide during the same period. Previous suicide attempts (OR: 11.93, p < 0.001), lower age (OR: 0.69, p < 0.001), daily alcohol use (OR: 3.31, p < 0.001), being in the risk group for COVID-19 complications (OR: 2.15, p < 0.001), and having economic concerns related to the pandemic (OR: 2.28, p < 0.001) were associated with having current suicide thoughts. In addition to known risk factors, the study suggests that aspects specific to COVID-19 may be important for suicidal behaviors during the pandemic. Here, we have used this to perform complete and exhaustive analyses of linear B cell epitopes of a medium sized protein target using human serum albumin (HSA) as an example. All possible overlapping 15-mers from HSA were synthesized and probed with a commercially available polyclonal rabbit anti-HSA antibody preparation. To allow for identification of even the weakest epitopes and at the same time perform a detailed characterization of key residues involved in antibody binding, the array also included complete single substitution scans (i.e. including each of the 20 common amino acids) at each position of each 15-mer peptide. As specificity controls, all possible 15-mer peptides from bovine serum albumin (BSA) and from rabbit serum albumin (RSA) were included as well. The resulting layout contained more than 200.000 peptide fields and could be synthesized in a single array on a microscope slide. More than 20 linear epitope candidates were identified and characterized at high resolution i.e. identifying which amino acids in which positions were needed, or not needed, for antibody interaction. As expected, moderate cross-reaction with some peptides in BSA was identified whereas no cross-reaction was observed with peptides from RSA. We conclude that high-density peptide microarrays are a very powerful methodology to identify and characterize linear antibody epitopes, and should advance detailed description of individual specificities at the single antibody level as well as serologic analysis at the proteome-wide level. Here, for the first time, we describe details of the non-covalent, host-guest type interaction between REM and the solubilizing excipient, sulfobutylether-beta-cyclodextrin (SBECD) that results in significant solubility enhancement. Complete amorphousness of the cyclodextrin-enabled REM formulation was demonstrated by X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, Raman chemical mapping and electron microscopy/energy dispersive spectroscopy.
