Mathematics teachers play an essential role in ensuring citizens’ statistical and probabilistic literacy. This study aimed at analyzing the pedagogical content knowledge that teachers utilized to teach statistics and probability through considering contextualized situations. In order to accomplish this purpose, fourteen secondary mathematics teachers participated in a formative and evaluative activity that was designed using the transformational professional competence model. During each evaluative phase, a group discussion was conducted. Participants were asked to reflect on their actions when promoting statistical and probabilistic literacy by considering a range of topics (data science, didactic resources, and methodological approaches) that were addressed during the training phase. A mixed, quantitative–qualitative methodological design was used for the data collection and analysis, which involved open-ended, multiple-choice, or scale-type questions that were moderated by the Metaplan® approach and the Mentimeter® software. The main ideas that emerged from the results indicated the need to reinforce the use of real data, technological resources to handle the visualization of information, the elaboration of different types of graphs besides the classical ones, and the formulation of hypotheses. The initial diagnosis will continue within a research and practice community made up of teachers and researchers. Therefore, a working proposal based on examples and models contextualized within the COVID-19 crisis is presented in order to enhance secondary mathematics teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge. It is also an element associated with tolerance to biotic and abiotic stress in plants. In agricultural practice, sulfur has broad use in the form of sulfate fertilizers and, to a lesser extent, as sulfite biostimulants. When used in the form of bulk elemental sulfur, or micro- or nano-sulfur, applied both to the soil and to the canopy, the element undergoes a series of changes in its oxidation state, produced by various intermediaries that apparently act as biostimulants and promoters of stress tolerance. The final result is sulfate S+6, which is the source of sulfur that all soil organisms assimilate and that plants absorb by their root cells. The changes in the oxidation states of sulfur S0 to S+6 depend on the action of specific groups of edaphic bacteria. In plant cells, S+6 sulfate is reduced to S−2 and incorporated into biological molecules. S−2 is also absorbed by stomata from H2S, COS, and other atmospheric sources. S−2 is the precursor of inorganic polysulfides, organic polysulfanes, and H2S, the action of which has been described in cell signaling and biostimulation in plants. S−2 is also the basis of essential biological molecules in signaling, metabolism, and stress tolerance, such as reactive sulfur species (RSS), SAM, glutathione, and phytochelatins. The present review describes the dynamics of sulfur in soil and plants, considering elemental sulfur as the starting point, and, as a final point, the sulfur accumulated as S−2 in biological structures. The factors that modify the behavior of the different components of the sulfur cycle in the soil–plant–atmosphere system, and how these influences the productivity, quality, and stress tolerance of crops, are described. The internal and external factors that influence the cellular production of S−2 and polysulfides vs. other S species are also described. The impact of elemental sulfur is compared with that of sulfates, in the context of proper soil management. The conclusion is that the use of elemental sulfur is recommended over that of sulfates, since it is beneficial for the soil microbiome, for productivity and nutritional quality of crops, and also allows the increased tolerance of plants to environmental stresses. Se diseñó una encuesta con 106 preguntas que se aplicó en 80 fincas seleccionadas al azar. Se encontró que la mayoría de los productores eran propietarios de sus fincas y alrededor del 50% trabajan en asocio con otros productores. La mayoría de las fincas eran de 1-3 ha, con una agricultura altamente intensiva con pequeños y medianos productores. El nivel de escolaridad indicó un 75% con educación general básica, esta educación le permitió a los productores buscar nuevas soluciones, productos, mercados, tecnologías y hasta dejar el sector agrícola en caso necesario. La disponibilidad de riego influyó fuertemente en la economía de estos agricultores. Así, la B/C más alta se obtuvo en la parte media de la cuenca donde disponían de riego, lo que permitió realizar 3 ciclos de cultivo, menor uso de agroquímicos e insumos externos y mayores precios de venta del producto al planificar las cosechas con base en las oportunidades del mercado. Los valores más altos de B/C se obtuvieron en Tierra Blanca, donde hay más fincas con riego, menor intermediación y mayores oportunidades de agroindustria. El sistema de manejo integrado de cultivos (MIC) presentó los mejores indicadores económicos y ambientales, con rendimientos promedio mayores a los nacionales. Otro elemento que refuerza la prosperidad de estos productores fue el Índice de Desarrollo Social (IDS), que para la cuenca fue aceptable en relación con el IDS nacional. Estos productores forman un grupo socio-cultural diferenciado, son una comunidad campesina con una fuerte identidad cultural y arraigo a la agricultura. To contribute to filling this gap, this exploratory study analyzes changes related to tongue kissing in hook-ups promoted by increased awareness of tongue kissing certain people as a potential source of transmission. Through pre- and post-test questionnaires given to 20 girls (18–30 years old), potential changes in the memories of past tongue-kissing hook-ups and in intentions and perceptions towards future ones can be observed among 12 participants. The implications of these findings suggest not only how the new normal might affect tongue kissing in hook-ups among these girls but also how these girls might freely decide with whom to engage in sexual-affective relationships in the future.
