El β-HCH mostró valores más altos que los otros isómeros en la familia de los hexaclorociclohexanos (HCH). Se observó buena correlación entre la concentración de p,p'-DDE y la edad tal como se esperaba para un contaminante persistente y bioacumulable. This residue was generated by the determination of oxidizable carbon in organic fertilizers samples. The Cr(VI) of the residue was reduced with ethanol and precipitated with NaOH. Se determinó composición botánica, porcentajes de especies con potencialidades para la alimentación así como órganos más utilizados, tipo de alimentación a la que se destinan y para la alimentación animal las especies más favorecidas.Resultados: Se contabilizaron 22 especies arvenses con potencialidades para la alimentación siendo la familia Poaceae la de mayor riqueza de especies y Bothriochloa pertusa (L.) A. Camus la especie más dominante. Esta junto a Megathyrsus maximus (Jacq.) Sim. & Jac. tuvieron un porcentaje de referencia igual al 100 %. Del 77,27 % de la flora arvense el órgano más utilizado son las hojas y el 63,63 % se destinan a la alimentación animal. Ocho especies se destinan a la alimentación humana de las cuales Pithecellobium dulce (Roxb.) Benth y Chrysophyllum oliviforme L. se consumen como frutales de baja presencia.Conclusiones: La flora arvense estudiada posee potencialidades para ser utilizada en la alimentación animal y humana. El presente trabajo documenta la variedad de plantas con uso medicinal y otros usos importantes dentro y alrededor de una plantación de cacao orgánico en Pueblo Nuevo de Guácimo, Costa Rica. En un sondeo rápido encontramos un total de 61 especies con valores medicinales en cuatro categorías de áreas utilizadas por la población local, jardines o huertas caseras, las orillas entre caminos y plantaciones y sus cercas vivas, las plantaciones de cacao orgánico y bosques ribereños. Además, se identificaron 10 especies con otros usos importantes, una de las cuales se encuentra en peligro de extinción. Sin embargo, a pesar de la gran variedad de plantas, es importante hacer notar que son subutilizadas por la población local, la cual no tiene conocimiento específico sobre medicina natural con la excepción de algunas plantas de uso popular. Por esta razón sugerimos que autoridades y la sociedad civil promuevan programas de educación ambiental para promover el uso de la medicina tradicional en las áreas rurales. To this end, theoretical support is in the development of the mix. We find in sequence conceptual development in marketing and fertilizer as such; in turn the results arising from surveys applied to three definite groups and finally the analysis where the question is answered.
