The obtained samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-Vis absorption, photoluminescence spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction (DRX), and micro-Raman spectroscopy. The effect of the applied voltage (30–50 V), vanadium content (5–15 wt %) in the alloy, and water content (2–10 vol %) in an ethylene glycol-based electrolyte was studied systematically to determine their influence on the morphology, and for the first-time, on the photocatalytic properties of these nanomaterials. The morphology of the samples varied from sponge-like to highly-organized nanotubular structures. The vanadium content in the alloy was found to have the highest influence on the morphology and the sample with the lowest vanadium content (5 wt %) exhibited the best auto-alignment and self-organization (length = 1 μm, diameter = 86 nm and wall thickness = 11 nm). Additionally, a probable growth mechanism of V2O5-TiO2 nanotubes (NTs) over the Ti-V alloys was presented. Toluene, in the gas phase, was effectively removed through photodegradation under visible light (LEDs, λmax = 465 nm) in the presence of the modified TiO2 nanostructures. The highest degradation value was 35% after 60 min of irradiation. V2O5 species were ascribed as the main structures responsible for the generation of photoactive e− and h+ under Vis light and a possible excitation mechanism was proposed. Mediante la aplicación de teoría y métodos de ecología contemporánea, el trabajo aquí presentado busca contribuir oportunamente al desarrollo de una metodología que permita reducir el nivel de incertidumbre asociado a la evaluación de riesgo ambiental de productos veterinarios utilizados en acuicultura. Se revisa el estado actual de la evaluación de riesgo ambiental en Chile y se identifican aspectos críticos y factibles de corregir en el marco de los procedimientos utilizados. Finalmente, se entrega una propuesta metodológica general que contempla extender de un modo coherente las pruebas ecotoxicológicas estándar, combinando experimentación a niveles comunitario, poblacional e individual, junto a la modelización matemática de sistemas ecológicos.The bidirectional relationship that aquaculture has with the environment set limits to the growth this economic activity has in Chile. This condition has generated both technical constraints and environmental as well as social conflicts. The growing demand for new chemotherapeutic compounds and their reléase into aquatic environments is now considered one of the main problems being faced by the salmón industry in Chile. However, little is known about the effects these substances exert on non-target species and on the structure and functioning of exposed ecosystems. Through the application of theory and methods from contemporary ecology, the present work aims at contributing towards the development of a methodology that allows a reduction of the uncertainty level associated to the environmental risk assessment of veterinary producís used in aquaculture. The current status of the environmental risk assessment in Chile is revised and those critical aspects feasible to fix are identified, considering the procedures currently in use. Finally, a general methodological approach is proposed that considers a coherent expansión of standard ecotoxicological tests combining research at community, population, and individual levéis, with mathematical modeling of ecological systems. Frente al efecto proteolítico inducido por el veneno de las dos víboras, V. vinifera presenta los mejores porcentajes de inhibición dependiendo de la cantidad de extracto utilizado. Sobre la actividad coagulante del veneno de B. asper, M. indica y V. vinifera logran prolongar el tiempo de coagulación hasta ~ 31 y 13 veces respectivamente, el tiempo del correspondiente control positivo. M. indica y V. vinifera inhiben el crecimiento de Escherichia coli y Staphylococcus aureus. Por el contrario, el extracto etanólico de las semillas de C. sinensis no presenta resultados de inhibición muy prometedores.This paper tries to demonstrate that agroindustrial residues, such as Vitis vinifera and Citrus sinensis seeds and the Mangifera indica Kernel, have the capacity of neutralize some of the enzymatic effects induced by Bothrops asper and Porthidium nasutum venoms, in addition to the inhibitory ability of some microorganism growth of the normal flora of the serpent fangs and mouth. That is the extracts of M. indica and Vitis vinifera have a good inhibitory ability of the phospholipase A2 activity in a dose dependent manner and if they have a major neutralizing potency against the P. nasutum venom activity. Against the proteolytic effect induced by both snakes venom, V. vinifera shows the best inhibition percentages in a dependent way of the amount of extract used. Against the coagulant activity of B. asper venom, the species M. indica and V. vinifera are able to prolong the coagulation time up ~ 31 and 13 times, respectively, to the corresponding positive control time. M. indica and V. vinifera inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. On the other hand, the etanolic extract of C. sinensis seeds does not show promising inhibition results. Los objetivos del artículo son describir la cotidianidad, las motivaciones y los retos que enfrentan las mujeres que conservan el bosque como parte de los programas de Pago por Servicios Ambientales (psa) en Milpa Alta. También se analiza cómo influye el género en la toma de decisiones alrededor de estos programas, para lo cual se utiliza el enfoque de la ecología política feminista. La información recabada para la elaboración de esta investigación se obtuvo a través de observación participante, entrevistas a profundidad y grupos focales. Los resultados indican que las mujeres se involucran en los programas de psa porque consideran que tienen el compromiso de cuidar el bosque, además de ser ésta una alternativa para contar con un trabajo remunerado, no obstante que integrarse a estos programas implica para estas mujeres algunos riesgos además de la falta de un seguro médico. Asimismo, se encontró que en los programas de psa en Milpa Alta las mujeres no participan plenamente. El aporte de este trabajo es que muestra cómo influye el género dentro de los programas de psa. Sin embargo, para futuras investigaciones sería importante incluir la visión que tienen los tomadores de decisiones. Title A name given to the resource Retomando fundamentos y paradigmas para el tránsito de la crisis ambiental hacia sociedades sustentables Creator An entity primarily responsible for making the resource Carlos Francisco Ortiz Paniagua, Priscila Ortega Gómez Description An account of the resource El presente trabajo se propone discutir sobre la crisis ambiental actual y los argumentos que enmarcan la naturaleza del problema como crisis social de magnitudes planetarias y que involucra diversos ámbitos: cultura, educación, instituciones, historia, sociedad, ecología, política, gobierno, economía, etcétera. Las causas de la crisis en el ámbito global tienen los mismos orígenes, pero no las mismas consecuencias, según sean países desarrollados o en vías de desarrollo. Algunas posturas teóricas consideran que el desarrollo se alcanza transitando etapas, entre ellas la degradación ecológica para aspirar al desarrollo. Sin embargo, el presente cuestiona el paradigma actual de desarrollo y enmarca las etapas en formas de relación, consumo-degradación ambiental, planteando formas alternativas bajo pautas que apoyan la reflexión para la construcción de sociedades sustentables. Se ilustran las formas básicas de dicha relación (crecimiento económico/consumo y calidad ambiental); y bajo este esquema se retoman los principios del desarrollo sustentable, el eco-desarrollo y el desarrollo a escala humana. Se plantea una lógica de cambio gradual de paradigma, con inclusión de actores clave, que implicaría el entendimiento formas diferentes de desempeño en: consumo, eco-tecnias, innovación ambiental, energías renovables y generación de desechos.
