Among the exciting researches, we invite readers to find news about: pharmacological uses and health benefits of ginger (Zingiber officinale) in traditional Asian and ancient Chinese medicine, and modern practice; middle east respiratory syndrome: its occurrence, aetiology, epidemiology, associated clinicopathological findings, diagnosis, prevention and control in humans and animals; ethanolic extract of Chrysophyllum albidum stem bark prevents alloxan-induced diabetes; prevalence of group a rotavirus, some risk factors and clinical signs of the infection in children under five years in Yobe State, Nigeria; prevalence of increased serum urea and creatinine levels in dogs; impact of heat stress on blood and serum biochemistry parameters in rats; acute and sub-acute toxicity of Ganoderma applanatum (Pres.)

<text>Melon has high expenses with mineral fertilizers, highlighting the possibility of using alternative products such as biofertilizers. In this context, the objective was to evaluate the productive response of yellow melon, analyzing its performance against the use of different concentrations of liquid biofertilizer in the Bahian semiarid. The experimental design was randomized blocks, with six treatments and four replications, with control and 5 concentrations of biofertilizer: 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10%, applied via leaf in the culture. Eight sprays were performed 30 days after planting. The longitudinal and transverse fruit length, longitudinal cavity length, pulp thickness, average fruit weight, yield, soluble solids, titratable acidity and SS/TA ratio were analyzed. The biofertilizer promoted increase of longitudinal length of fruits in increasing linear way, while the other variables were quadratically influenced, except for SS and SS/TA which presented cubic response. The use of liquid biofertilizer in the organic production system promotes improvements in the productivity and quality of melon.</text>

<text>Edgar Morin’s thought provides us with some clues on understanding the relation between bioethics and ecology. The first one is ethics of life. The second is science of ecosystems –living units. Basically, both have life as their object, but from different perspectives. Edgar Morin is able to relate them thanks to his complex thought, which shows the necessity of departing from systemic thinking. This study thereby presents some of the conceptual difficulties that appear when examining the relationship between these two sciences: the question of anthropocentrism.</text>
