                <text>El lentisco (Pistacia lentiscus L., Anacardiaceae) es un arbusto esclerófilo de origen Oligocénico muy común en el Mediterráneo. Las condiciones climáticas imperantes en el momento en que se habría originado P. lentiscus eran de tipo tropical cálido, muy distintas a las mediterráneas actuales, por lo que muchos de los caracteres que presenta actualmente la especie pueden ser más un reflejo a las condiciones bajo las que evolucionó que a las condiciones actuales. Es en este sentido en el que se considera a esta especie como un anacronismo evolutivo. Para contestar a la pregunta de si el ser anacrónico significa poseer una estrategia inadecuada en las condiciones mediterráneas actuales, se ha realizado una revisión sobre la biología reproductiva de P. lentiscus. La conclusión principal es que el ciclo reproductivo de P. lentiscus está constituido por una amalgama de caracteres tropicales que le sirven no sólo para sobrevivir con éxito en el matorral mediterráneo, sino para colonizar los nuevos hábitats surgidos de la destrucción de éstePistacia lentiscus L. (Anacardiaceae) is a sclerophyllous shrub that is very common in the Mediterranean Basin. This species originated in the Oligocene under mild tropical conditions that were very different to the current mediterranean climate. For this reason, many of the plant characteristics should respond to the tropical -and not mediterranean-environmental pressures under it evolved. This is the fact why this species is considered to be an evolutionary anachronism. To answer the question if being anachronistic means to have a wrong strategy in the current Mediterranean conditions, a review of the reproductive biology of P. lentiscus has been carried out. The main conclusion is that the reproductive cycle of P. lentiscus is formed by a mixture of tropical characters that are useful not only to survive successfully in the Mediterranean shrublands but also to colonize new, disturbed, habitats</text>

Esta empresa promovía un modelo de incorporación de tecnologías de avanzada y en el despliegue de sus capacidades organizativas subyacían ciertos valores culturales vinculados al cooperativismo.This article presents the results and findings of an investigation based on primary sources. It reappraises the knowledge of temporally and spatially-situated historical processes. It seeks to explain the transformations that took place in the Argentine dairy region of Córdoba-Santa Fe at times when there was an intensification of agro-industrial activity under the leadership of the cooperative company Sancor (Sancor Butter Factory Cooperative Limited). This company promoted a model that consisted in incorporating advanced technologies. In the deployment of its organizational capabilities, there were certain underlying cooperativism related cultural values.</text>

                <text>En la primera parte del ensayo, se estudió el comportamiento del peso de nódulos, peso fresco y peso seco de tres leguminosas (Crotalaria, Canavalia y Guandul) a utilizar como abonos verdes y su efecto sobre sistemas de producción maíz-leguminosas (maíz-caupí, maíz-soya, maíz-frijol). Las variables consideradas (rendimiento, rendimiento equivalente de maíz, ingreso neto y tasa de retorno marginal) mostraron el efecto positivo de esta práctica sobre esta forma de producción obteniéndose mejor respuesta de el sistema maíz-caupí. De los abonos verdes la crotalaria presentó el mejor efecto sobre los sistemas de producción. En la segunda parte del trabajo, se utilizó el sistema de producción de mejor comportamiento introduciendo al factor abono verde algunas modalidades de tratamiento, entre ellas efecto residual, adición de una segunda incorporación de los tres abonos verdes y efecto residual más la adición de abono químico. La consideración de las mismas variables usadas en la primera parte mostro mejores valores por la segunda incorporación de abono verde y la adición de abono químico en su orden, el efecto residual de los abonos permite obtener rendimientos superiores a los alcanzados por el testigo.This research was divided in two parts. The first studies the behavior of three legumes (Crotalaria, Canavalia and Cajanus) as green manure, measuring weight nodules, green weight matter and dry weight matter of them, so measured the effect on three production systems: Maize- cowpea, Maize- soybean and Maize-bean. The indicators (yield, equivalent maize yields, net income and marginal return rate) showed positive effect of green manure on this production systems too maize-cowpea system showed the best yields; Crotalaria was ,the best green manure. In second experimental stage maize- cowpea system was evaluated, using the same indicators and introducing new treatments related to green manure: its residual effects, addicional amounts of manure and residual effects helped with chemical fertilizers. There were found during this second stage betters yields from the production system maize- cowpea, as a result of a second addition of green manure and addition of chemical fertilizer in your order. The residual effects showed highest yields from its control.</text>

                <text>Limnocytherina is a genus conformed by 12 species; its distribution in the American continent is known to be exclusively on the North (neartics), but little is reported about its distribution from Mexico (transition zone) and Central America (Neotropics). Different sampling campaigns were undertaken in three crater lakes from the Axalapascos region in east-central Mexico, during 2008, 2009 and 2011. As a product of these campaings, the new species of Limnocytherina axalapasco was found, which displays some intraspecific variability among populations. In this study, we described the taxonomy, the habitat, the ecological preferences and the larval development of this new species. A total of 10 sediment samples (8 littoral, 2 deepest point) were collected from lakes Alchichica, La Preciosa and Quechulac. We found that L. axalapasco is closely related to two North American species: L. posterolimba and L. itasca as well as one Central American species L. royi comb. nov. With the inclusion of L. axalapasco and L. royi to the genus, the distribution of Limnocytherina is extended to Central America. The four most important distinguishing characters of this new species are: 1) valve surface and margins covered with small, spine-like projections; 2) most of the A1 setae with a highly developed setule at distal part, producing a bifurcate appearance; 3) the upper ramus on the hemipenis is elongated, and by far overpasses dorsal/distal margins, distal lobe is triangular and short, while the hook-like process is prominent, outward orientated, and overpassing the tip of the distal lobe; 4) the UR is moderately developed with seta f3 elongated and setae f1 and f2 short. Considering its ecological characteristics and larval development, L. axalapasco was preferably found in alkaline waters dominated by Cl- or HCO3- and Na+ or Mg2+, temperatures ranging between 19.1 to 20.3°C, and dissolved oxygen concentrations from 5 to 6.5mg/L. This species was abundant in deeper (~64m) areas of the saline Alchichica lake, where surface water displayed conductivity values of up to 2 250μS/cm, and the sand with low percentage of silt resulted the preferred substrate. Along with the description of L. axalapasco, we provide additional information on the hemipenis of L. itasca, L. royi and L. sanctipatricii, and we discuss on the Limnocytherina-type of hemipenis.</text>

                <text>Las Escuelas Campesinas de Agroecología (ECAS), son una estrategia de Desarrollo Endógeno Sustentable (DES) “Para Vivir Bien” en los Andes Tulueños (Valle del Cauca). Este trabajo analiza los enfoques filosóficos, metodológicos y éticos políticos que orientaron la conformación de las ECAS en dos corregimientos del municipio de Tuluá. La metodología de trabajo se enmarcó en la Investigación Acción Participación (IAP) y en el enfoque Histórico Lógico Cultural (HLC). Las ECAS como estrategia de DES se convierten en espacios de resistencia a partir del rescate de la cultura, la historia, el territorio y el cuidado de los bienes naturales; desde la revalorización de los saberes locales y los contenidos históricos que han sido excluidos por el discurso dominante de Occidente. Los campesinos existen porque históricamente han manejo de manera sustentable los bienes naturales.</text>

                <text>El conocimiento de los patrones de distribución de especies en las comunidades vegetales y su relación con factores del medio es un objetivo fundamental en ecología. Las comunidades de Pinus cembroides y P. johannis coexisten en diversas regiones de México, pero P. cembroides tiende a distribuirse en laderas de exposiciones sur y suroeste en sitios deteriorados, a diferencia de P. johannis localizados en áreas mésicas en laderas con exposición norte y noreste. El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar la influencia de algunos factores físicos en la semejanza florística de los piñonares de P. cembroides y P. johannis. El área de estudio se ubica en la Sierra San Miguelito, San Luis Potosí, México. Se seleccionaron 40 unidades de muestreo, distribuidas en una superficie de 50km²; en cada una se trazaron dos líneas de 20m perpendiculares entre sí, donde se registró la cobertura de los individuos interceptados. Se elaboraron dos tipos de matrices de datos: la primera con los valores de cobertura de 91 especies y la segunda, con siete variables topográficas, climáticas y de incidencia solar. Se aplicaron análisis de agrupamiento y de ordenación para explorar la influencia de variables ambientales en la diferenciación florística de los piñonares. El agrupamiento diferenció seis grupos; los tres primeros caracterizados por bosques de P. cembroides. La ordenación mostró que la varianza representada por los tres primeros ejes fue de 65.9%. El eje uno se correlacionó positivamente con la altitud y negativamente con la temperatura media anual y la orientación; los ejes dos y tres mostraron bajos valores de correlación con las variables probadas. Se observó que los piñonares de P. cembroides y flora acompañante, tienden a localizarse en sitios de menor altitud, con mayor temperatura media anual y en laderas con orientación al sur y suroeste. En contraste, los sitios de P. johannis, los de P. johannis-P. cembroides y de éstos con Quercus potosina, por lo regular están ubicados en condiciones de mayor altitud, temperatura media anual baja y con orientación al norte-noreste. La localización de estos bosques monoespecíficos y mixtos junto con las especies asociadas, indicadoras de variables ambientales, genera el pre-diagnóstico de la situación de las comunidades y su condición, para que en el futuro se planifiquen acciones acordes con el balance natural ecosistémico.</text>

                <text>Nowadays is recognized that the agriculture goes beyond that only the food production, so the concept of agricultural multifunctionality is introduced in order to describe this fact, recovering the true sense of the agriculture, and classifying its functions in three groups: 1) food security, 2) environment, and 3) socio-cultural. In each one of these functions, the agricultural production systems generate two categories of products: a) the traditional outputs (commodities), such as food, fibers and energy, and b) the non traditional outputs (non-commodities), which included aspects related with the environment and territory, employment, human resources and work, food safety and quality, animal welfare, food security and economic autonomy of the rural regions among others. Finally, we explore the evolution that agricultural production systems have had from a productivist focus toward a model where the new paradigm is the multifunctional agriculture, where the developing countries could have an important place.El presente artículo inicialmente aborda el concepto de multifuncionalidad de la agricultura, donde encontramos que actualmente se reconoce que la agricultura va mas allá de la simple producción de alimentos, clasificando sus principales funciones en tres ejes temáticos: 1) seguridad alimentaria, 2) medio ambiente, y 3) socio-cultural. En cada una de estas funciones se evidencia que los sistemas de producción agropecuaria generan dos categorías de productos: a) productos tradicionales (“commodities”), como son los alimentos, las fibras y la energía, y b) productos no tradicionales (“non-commodities”), los cuales incluyen aspectos relacionados con el medio ambiente y territorio, la generación de empleo, el manejo del recurso humano y de las condiciones laborales, la gestión de la calidad de los alimentos, el bienestar animal, la autonomía económica de las regiones rurales y su seguridad alimentaria, entre otros. Finalmente, se tiene en cuenta la evolución que han tenido los sistemas de producción agropecuaria pasando de un enfoque productivista, hacia un modelo donde el nuevo paradigma es la agricultura multifuncional, donde los países en vías de desarrollo pueden tener un papel importante.</text>

                <text>En un siglo de progresos significativos en salud para una gran parte del mundo, lo último que los consumidores podrían haber esperado al finalizar el milenio es que los antiguos problemas de seguridad alimentaria se vieran intensificados por la introducción de nuevos métodos y de la aplicación de nuevas tecnologías en la agroindustria. Los consumidores y los ciudadanos en general han reaccionado con indignación por el riesgo al que han sido expuestos por el gobierno y los expertos. Aunque presentadas como opciones con base estrictamente científica, muchas de las decisiones relativas a la seguridad alimentaria y al comercio de alimentos a niveles nacionales o internacionales contienen un significativo elemento de interés ético, muchas veces no identificado o ignoradoEm um século de significativos progressos para a saúde de uma grande parte do mundo, o que menos poderiam os consumidores esperar ao finalizar o milênio era o fato de que antigos problemas de segurança alimentar sofressem acentuação como resultado da introdução de novas tecnologias agro-industriais.                 <text>This article deals with methodological issues and how to link global processes - social and ecological - with environmental changes and human health in local communities. The discussion concerns how interdisciplinary approaches can help us find tools to develop new knowledge. Scientific knowledge and local knowledge are not seen as opposite epistemological forms, but as socially and culturally constructed.                 <text>El Golfo de California tiene una alta variedad de ecosistemas que permiten obtener diferentes servicios y los peces juegan un papel prominente en la ecología, evolución y economía de este. De los peces, las especies costeras han sido reportadas previamente para la mayoría de las zonas litorales, especialmente aquellas especies que son sujetas a explotación pesquera, sin embargo, poco se conoce de las especies que habitan en zonas marinas profundas, debido a lo difícil de su muestreo. Se presenta el listado sistemático y la afinidad biogeográfica de los peces recolectados en tres cruceros de investigación en el Golfo de California con red de arrastre. Se efectuaron 74 lances exploratorios y se capturó un total de 9 898 peces, integrados por dos clases, 15 órdenes, 35 familias, 53 géneros y 70 especies. Las familias mejor representadas en número de especies son: Paralichthyidae (ocho especies), Serranidae (seis), Scorpaenidae y Triglidae (cinco cada una). Las familias típicas de aguas profundas son: Ophidiidae, Moridae, Lophiidae, Scorpaenidae, Triglidae, Paralichthydae, Pleuronectidae y Cynoglossidae. El intervalo de tallas encontrado varió de 13cm en la vaca doble hocico (Bellator xenisma) a 234cm en el sable del Pacífico Trichurus nitens. La afinidad biogeográfica muestra que dominaron las especies de afinidad al Pacífico Oriental Tropical (POT), seguidos por las especies de las provincias de San Diego-Panámica; San Diego-Panámica-peruano-chilena y provincias Oregoniana-de Cortés respectivamente. Se encontró un traslape biogeográfico de la fauna, la cual es reflejo de la posición geográfica del Golfo de California en los límites de distribución de los elementos en donde se manifiestan especies de afinidades templadas, tropicales y de transición templado-cálido, divisiones que caracterizan al Golfo de California. Los estatus taxonómicos en peces con un enfoque de composición, ubicación, caracterización y zoogeografía son fundamentales para desarrollar cualquier tema de biodiversidad y manejo pesquero</text>
