ResumoEm uma tentativa de minimizar os efeitos negativos da questão agrária o Governo vem implantando ferramentas que possam solucionar o problema agrário, como o Estatuto da Terra e a criação do Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária-INCRA. Neste processo foram instituídos mecanismos do modelo da reforma agrária, onde se encontram 20 tipos de assentamentos como os Projetos de Assentamentos Dirigidos-PADs. Este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar o Projeto de Assentamento Dirigido Humaitá localizado no município de Porto Acre - AC. Para isso, se utiliza uma análise da dinâmica do Índice de Desenvolvimento Familiar Rural-IDF-R no período de 2005/2006 e 2012/2013. Esse índice permite encontrar as condições de vida do produtor familiar rural, abordando dimensões de seu cotidiano e comparando ambos os períodos. Os resultados indicam que o tão almejado desenvolvimento rural não foi alcançado pelas unidades de produção familiar do Humaitá.

No Brasil, a pobreza e a insegurança alimentar concentrada no meio rural tem chamado bastante atenção por sua amplitude, principalmente no âmbito da agricultura familiar, onde a produção para o autoconsumo está no centro da reprodução familiar. Dessa forma, o presente trabalho objetiva identificar a relação entre a segurança alimentar, o autoconsumo e a pobreza da produção familiar rural do Estado do Acre. Especificamente, busca-se verificar os indicadores socioeconômicos, bem como os níveis de autoconsumo da produção familiar rural acreana. Para tanto, são utilizados indicadores econômicos adequados e específicos para estes estudos a partir dos estratos sociais identificados pela linha de pobreza no Estado. Os resultados demonstram um crescente número de famílias nas linhas de pobreza e extrema pobreza, elevando o número de pessoas em situação de insegurança alimentar, ocasionados, sobretudo pelo baixo autoconsumo.

El cambio climático es una problemática que ha cobrado un especial interés en la agenda internacional reciente, debido a su creciente impacto sobre los bienes públicos globales. A lo largo de la historia, la comunidad internacional ha diseñado una serie de instrumentos jurídicos que buscan dar un paso hacia el uso sostenible de los recursos naturales que rodean a la humanidad. Sin embargo, los instrumentos jurídicos creados a través de múltiples convenciones y resoluciones que han adoptado organizaciones internacionales como las Naciones Unidas, son esfuerzos que se han quedado inconclusos a la hora de mitigar el impacto del cambio climático en nuestra sociedad. La inquietud sobre el futuro de las próximas generaciones y el daño ambiental al que hemos sometido al mundo llevan a plantear la necesidad de generar un cambio en el diseño de las políticas públicas existentes. De esta manera, la utilización de herramientas tecnológicas y científicas se ha convertido en el principal medio al cual la comunidad internacional podría apostarle para redefinir la dinámica de cambio climático. Si bien el derecho internacional del medioambiente ha dado un paso significativo respecto a la inclusión de normas que buscan reducir el daño y el impacto que está causando el cambio climático, aún faltan esfuerzos por parte de la comunidad internacional para que dicho derecho y la legislación existente sobre el Espacio se unifiquen en un solo cuerpo legislativo que logre armonizar y coordinar los esfuerzos que se están realizando en cuanto a la reducción de ciertas prácticas que están acelerando día a día el cambio climático.

The South American sea lion, Otaria flavescens (Shaw, 1800) population is steadily expanding along the Patagonian coast of Argentina in the last decades. However, little is known about the feeding ecology of the species in the area. The aim of this study was to analyze the food habits of O. flavescens from 91 scats collected at Río Negro province, during the winter and spring of 2005. Fish occurred in 96% of scats containing prey remains, followed by cephalopods (26%). Raneya brasiliensis (Kaup, 1856) was the most frequent and abundant species occurring in 58.6% of samples and constituting almost 50% of fish predated. Second in importance were Porichthys porosissimus (Cuvier, 1829) and Cynoscion guatucupa (Cuvier, 1830) in terms of occurrence (%FO 20.7) and numbers (29.6%) respectively. The squid Loligo gahi (d'Orbigny, 1835) was the most frequent cephalopod prey (42.1%), whereas Octopus tehuelchus (d'Orbigny, 1834) was the most abundant (77%). The higher amount and diversity of prey found in the spring in comparison with the winter season might be related to a higher feeding activity of seals or to a seasonal increase in food availability in the area.La población del lobo marino de un pelo sudamericano Otaria flavescens (Shaw, 1800) ha experimentado un crecimiento continuo en las ultimas décadas en las costas de la Patagonia Argentina. Sin embargo, poco se conoce sobre la ecología trófica de la especie en el área. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los hábitos alimentarios de O. flavescens a partir de 91 fecas colectadas en la provincia de Río Negro, durante el invierno y la primavera del 2005. Los peces estuvieron presentes en el 96% de las fecas que contenían remanentes presas, seguidos por los cefalópodos (26%). Raneya brasiliensis (Kaup, 1856) fue la especie mas frecuente y abundante ocurriendo en el 58.6% de las muestras y constituyendo casi el 50% de los peces predados. Le siguieron en importancia Porichthys porosissimus (Cuvier, 1829) y Cynoscion guatucupa (Cuvier, 1830) en términos de frecuencia de ocurrencia (%FO 20,7) y abundancia numérica (29,6%) respectivamente. El calamar Loligo gahi (d'Orbigny, 1835) fue el cefalópodo presa mas frecuente (42,1%), mientras que Octopus tehuelchus (d'Orbigny, 1834) fue el mas abundante (77%). La mayor cantidad y diversidad de presas observada en primavera en comparación con el periodo invernal podría estar relacionada a una mayor actividad de forrajeo de los lobos o a un incremento en la disponibilidad de presas en el área.

Este trabalho objetivou identificar e caracterizar o sistema de exploração da várzea flúvio-marinha em unidades de produção agroflorestal - UPA, nos aspectos florísticos e socioeconômicos. Utilizaram-se as técnicas do inventário florestal, orçamentos unitários e questionários. Os resultados expressaram uma composição florística média de 2.920,7 indivíduos/ha com circunferência à altura do peito (CAP)>10 cm, com maiores frequência de açaí (50,63%), cacau (31,02%) e virola (6,76%). O Sistema está constituído pela exploração florestal madeireira, não-madeireira, pesca e criação de aves e suínos. O custo anual do sistema agroflorestal - SAF é de R$ 1.866,25/UPA e a renda bruta anual oriunda do SAF é de R$ 2.959,08/UPA. Concluiu-se que o sistema é do tipo agrossilvipastoril, em que a atividade de criação de aves e suínos utiliza como fonte de alimentos a mariscagem na várzea. A tecnologia utilizada, em princípio, favorece a conservação e preservação do ecossistema, há todavia a necessidade de qualificação de mão-de-obra familiar. A renda bruta anual do SAF denota viabilidade econômica das UPA no nível do salário mínimo, porém, tais unidades são pluriativas, apresentando rendas múltiplas, cujas rendas não-agrícolas são fundamentais para a permanência das famílias na atividade e no meio rural.The purpose of this paper is to identify and characterize forestry and socio-economic systems of tidal river floodplain utilization in agroforestry production units (UPA). Forest inventory techniques, budget sheets and questionnaires were utilized. The results obtained express an average floristic composition of 2,920.7 plants/ha, with a breast-high circumference (CHC)>10cm, the highest frequency being for açaí (Euterpe oleracea) (50.63%), cocoa (Theobroma cacau) (31.02%) and virola (Virola surinamensis) (6.76%). The system comprises timber and non-timber forest exploitation, fishing, and poultry and swine raising. The annual cost of the agroforestry system (SAF) is R$1,866.25/UPA and annual gross income is R$2,959.08/UPA. It was concluded that the system is an agro-silvi-pastoral one, where poultry and swine raising utilizes floodplain shellfish as feed source; in principle, the technology used is favorable to the ecosystem conservation; however, there is a need for improving the quality of family labor. The SAF annual gross income demonstrates the economic feasibility of the UPAs at a minimum wage level; however, such units are multi-functional and have multiple incomes whose non-agricultural earnings are fundamental to families persevering in this activity and staying in the rural environment.

La Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas declaró al año 2014 como año internacional de la agricultura familiar, de la que forma parte la producción de hortalizas como la lechuga, el riego y la aplicación de nutrientes son factores que influyen en este cultivo, de los cuales aún no se determinó la exportación de nitrógeno. El objetivo del trabajo fue determinar la cantidad de exportación de nitrógeno de la lechuga cultivada con niveles de nitrógeno y estrategias de reposición de agua al suelo en el municipio Tiquipaya, departamento de Cochabamba. Se utilizó el diseño experimental de parcelas sub-subdivididas, los factores estudiados fueron: estrategias de reposición de agua al suelo (R1: reposición al 100% de DPM desde los 36 DDS hasta la cosecha, R2: reposición al 80% de DPM de los 36 hasta los 56 DDS, 100% de DPM de los 57 DDS hasta la cosecha, R3: reposición al 100% de DPM de 36 a 56 DDS, 80% de DPM de los 57 a 76 DDS y 100% de DPM de los 77 DDS hasta la cosecha y R4: reposición al 100% de DPM de 36 a 76 DDS y 80% de DPM de los 77 DDS hasta la cosecha), nitrógeno (0 y 100 kg ha-1) y evaluaciones (36, 56, 76 y 90 DDS). Desde los 36 DDS hasta la cosecha, la evapotranspiración de cultivo fue 242.13 mm y la precipitación 36.50 mm; en el mismo periodo, con la estrategia R1, R2, R3 y R4 se aplicaron 174.33; 163.27; 162.94 y 161.93 mm de agua. Estadísticamente no hubo efecto de las estrategias de reposición de agua en los factores estudiados. Las aplicaciones de 0 y 100 kgN ha-1 de 36 DDS hasta la cosecha, mostraron tendencia cúbica para exportación de nitrógeno; presentando mayor exportación de nitrógeno a los 90 DDS. La relación de exportación de nitrógeno con materia seca mostró tendencia lineal, al incrementar la materia seca incrementa la exportación de nitrógeno. Con la aplicación de 100 kgN ha-1 hubo mayor rendimiento y exportación de nitrógeno.

Este texto relata a experiência de uma pesquisa desenvolvida no ano de 2015 no Assentamento Boa Esperança, localizado no município de Alto Rio Novo/ES. O estudo objetivou compreender como se dá a produção de conhecimentos na auto-organização que se estabelece como processo educativo mediante saberes e fazeres que atravessam o cotidiano das famílias campesinas. Por meio de uma pesquisa qualitativa com abordagem dialética, três unidades familiares foram investigadas e, a partir da análise dos dados coletados, constatou-se que os processos de auto-organização influenciam nos modos como cada família produz a sua sobrevivência e contribuem para uma formação humanística dos sujeitos envolvidos. As vozes dos sujeitos pesquisados evidenciaram que a auto-organização representa uma possibilidade de educação não escolar, pois ela favorece a produção e a propagação de saberes vivenciados na prática.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the global food supply chain and exacerbated the problem of food and nutritional insecurity. Here we outline soil strategies to strengthen local food production systems, enhance their resilience, and create a circular economy focused on soil restoration through carbon sequestration, on-farm cycling of nutrients, minimizing environmental pollution, and contamination of food. Smart web-based geospatial decision support systems (S-DSSs) for land use planning and management is a useful tool for sustainable development. Forensic soil science can also contribute to cold case investigations, both in providing intelligence and evidence in court and in ascertaining the provenance and safety of food products. Soil can be used for the safe disposal of medical waste, but increased understanding is needed on the transfer of virus through pedosphere processes. Strengthening communication between soil scientists and policy makers and improving distance learning techniques are critical for the post-COVID restoration.

La crisis ambiental global que enfrenta la humanidad, supone la creación de esfuerzos que aporten hacia una mayor resiliencia socioecológica frente a las consecuencias de estos cambios a nivel local, regional y global. Estos mecanismos buscan que la sociedad adquiera mayores conocimientos y habilidades, en miras de una cultura ecológica que logre una relación sustentable con el medio natural. Bajo este contexto, el presente trabajo tiene como objetivo determinar la validez de la educación ambiental como una estrategia que aporte para la mitigación y adaptación al cambio climático. Para su desarrollo, se trabajó con estudiantes de bachillerato, docentes y autoridades de tres instituciones educativas de la ciudad de Cuenca. Se aplicó un estudio desde dos enfoques, cuantitativo a través de la aplicación de formularios con docentes y estudiantes, y cualitativo con entrevistas a profundidad realizadas con las autoridades de cada institución. Los resultados fueron examinados estadísticamente, en el caso de las encuestas y el análisis de contenido de la totalidad de entrevistas. A partir de este punto, se establecieron lineamientos que aporten para un cambio en las estrategias, enfoques y metodologías con las cuales se trabaja la educación ambiental en la actualidad, con la finalidad de que ésta sea trabajada de forma transversal y holística dentro del programa currricular de los centros educativos dentro del estudio.
