Fue así como en el año de 1965 se puso en marcha el primer programa de Ingeniería Agrícola en Colombia y segundo en América Latina, siendo su cuna la Universidad Nacional Sede Medellín. Posteriormente, el 27 de marzo de 1969, hace precisamente 30 años, mediante el acuerdo 33, el Consejo Superior Universitario creó la carrera de Ingeniería Agrícola en la Sede de Bogotá, bajo la dirección de las Facultades de Agronomía e Ingeniería. El 11 de agosto de ese mismo año, 33 estudiantes iniciaron su carrera, la cual paso a ser administrada por la Facultad de Ingeniería en 1973. En 1978 el Consejo Superior Universitario formalizó el actual Departamento de Ingeniería Agrícola. Durante estos 30 años, 7.600 bachilleres han solicitado admisión a la carrera, de los cuales 2.120 han sido admitidos como estudiantes, logrando el título de Ingeniero 750 profesionales, quienes han hecho aportes importantes al desarrollo del sector agropecuario. Se han realizado cerca de 400 trabajos de grado, distribuidos así: 37% en el área de postcosecha y agroindustrias; 35% en riego, drenajes y conservación de suelos; 15% en maquinaria agrícola y mecanización y 13% en el área de construcciones agropecuarias. Igualmente, para el volumen 10, número 19 (enero-junio de 2014) ha decidido publicar una sección de artículos dedicados a la Ingeniería sísmica, un área que nuestros colaboradores han abordado en varias ocasiones a lo largo de estos diez años y en la cual existe una fuerte actividad investigativa en todo el mundo. No obstante, estas dos ediciones están abiertas a la publicación de otros temas definidos en la política editorial. Queremos agregar que, además de nuestros esfuerzos por posicionar la Revista en las más importantes bibliotecas del país y del mundo, hemos trabajado para que sus contenidos se encuentren en índices y directorios bibliográficos como SciELO, CAS, INSPEC, EBSCO, CAPES, DOAJ, Dialnet, e-revistas, Redalyc, ProQuest, implementado también la cuenta en Twitter @ingciencia, que servirá como canal de comunicación con los lectores, autores y árbitros. En este sentido, invitamos a que los autores y coautores también participen en la difusión de sus artículos. Partimos de la base de que los autores cumplen un papel esencial en la difusión donde se halla una comunidad académica integrada por colegas, estudiantes y expertos dedicados a los temas tratados en los artículos y que el uso de las redes sociales y de aplicaciones como arXiv.org, E-Lis, ResearcherGate, Nature Network o Academia.edu contribuyen a su visibilidad, citación e impacto. Así mismo, dadas sus características fisiológicas diferentes, como su alta eficiencia fotosintética y adaptación a condiciones adversas, potenciadas por la expresión de su vigor híbrido, representa una alternativa viable para la rotación de cultivos en áreas arroceras y maiceras. En el Ecuador hay poca investigación, relacionados con el comportamiento y adaptación de este cultivo, que permitan lograr la inserción del cultivo de sorgo en los diferentes sistemas de producción agrícola e industrial. El principal objetivo de esta investigación fue de evaluar el efecto de diferentes dosis del quitosano, sobre el crecimiento, desarrollo y control fitosanitario en plantas de tomate, bajo condiciones de campo abierto. El diseño experimental que se empleó en la investigación fue un diseño completo al azar con 6 tratamientos un testigo experimental y cinco repeticiones. El quitosano se aplicó a los 15, 30 y 60 días; se evaluaron las variables morfométricas, de producción y rendimiento, también la incidencia y severidad del tizón temprano. Los resultados obtenidos en esta investigación reportan que el tratamiento de 300 mg. L-1 presentó los mejores porcentajes de emergencia, altura de la planta, longitud raíz, diámetro del tallo, peso fresco de la raíz, peso seco de la raíz, racimos con frutos, frutos por planta, peso fresco del fruto y el rendimiento. La incidencia y severidad fue menor en tratamientos con la aplicación de quitosano en dosis de 300 mgL-1. To know the differences in food availability according to food insecurity level among the Mexican households. Materials and methods. We analyzed the database of the National Survey of Household’s Incomes and Expenditures (n=27 445 households). Households were classified according to the Latin American and Caribbean Inventory of Food Security. The availability of each food group was estimated as grams per day per equivalent adult. Results. 50.0% of Mexican households experienced some degree of food insecurity. Among households with food insecurity there was high availability of corn, wheat, egg, and sugars; but there was low availability of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meat, poultry, seafood, milk, cheeses, and sweetened beverages. Conclusion. Although in households with food insecurity there is lower availability of most food groups (both with high nutrient density and with high energy density); they have higher availability of cheap foods, which in some cases are only source of energy but do not provide nutrients. Coleóptera: Curculionidae), es una de las principales plagas del grano en “post cosecha”. Las pérdidas anuales de post cosecha de cultivos de cereales son el resultado de daños de insectos, degradación microbiana y otros factores, se estima de 10 al 25 % de pérdida de producción a nivel mundial. Tradicionalmente estas plagas se controlan con insecticidas químicos que si no se manejan adecuadamente, ocasionan problemas de contaminación ambiental y residuos en alimentos. Como una alternativa está el uso de insecticidas naturales que son menos tóxicos y pueden ser elaborados por los agricultores. Entre los insecticidas naturales están los compuestos derivados de nicotina, piretrinas naturales, neem (Azaradichtina) y las hojas, flores y extractos del árbol llama del bosque, que pueden constituir una alternativa para el control de plagas en granos almacenados como el gorgojo del maíz. En esta investigación se realizaron ensayos para determinar la actividad repelente e insecticida de hojas y flores de llama del bosque, así como de los extractos respectivos, en una cámara con túnel de viento del laboratorio de ecología química de insectos de ECOSUR, Tapachula, Chiapas, México. Con base en los resultados obtenidos se determinó efecto repelente de flores y hojas sobre gorgojos del maíz en concentración de 2 g/200 g de maíz a las 2 y 17 horas de aplicación. La mayor actividad insecticida se presentó a las 12 horas de la aplicación de extractos y el mejor efecto insecticida fue con el extracto de flores en concentraciones de 2.0 y 1.5 mg/ml. This study aims to review the impact of infections in children with asthma. Different websites including Googlescholar, Yahoo, Pubmed, SID.IR, MAGIRAN, IRANDOC, IRANMEDEX ,Embase and Hand searching were searched for pertinent articles with keywords asthma, pediatric, infection, virus, bacteria, and fungus. Out of the results, full articles relevant to pediatric asthma were selected. Acute respiratory infections caused by Chlamydia pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumoniae are involved in 5%-30% of wheezing events and asthma attacks. Viral infections were previously found in 24%-34% of asthmatic children, but technological advancements have revealed them to be present in 77%-81% of cases, with rhinovirus found in 47%, Respiratory Syncytial Virusin 21%, and the rest (including influenza, parainfluenza, adenovirus, coronavirus, and enterovirus) accounting for 2%-5% each. Viral respiratory infections are basically the major trigger for asthma symptoms and attacks in children. No causal relationship has been established between asthma and viruses and bacteria. Nazhad Description An account of the resource Paper has a visible market-share in hygiene products either in the form of personal hygiene or as food packaging. The designation “hygiene”, though it suggests cleanliness, does not imply antibacterial properties; rather it can be stated that hygiene products do not initiate microorganism growth. Antibacterial products could restrict propagation of pathogenic bacteria either by holding bacteria or by trapping and neutralizing them. Most research in this field has been conducted using textile fibers as a substrate, but the present work uses paper instead. The objective was to produce an antibacterial filter paper capable of trapping and neutralizing pathogenic microorganisms using wood fibers. To produce antibacterial paper, chitosan and nanosilver capped with PAA (polyacrylic acid) were deposited on the fiber surface using a layer-by-layer technique. Samples for the tests were prepared from refined bleached softwood (RBSW) kraft pulp. The deposition of antibacterial agents on fiber as well as paper were monitored using a zeta potential analyzer (ZPA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIRS). The minimum requirement for deposition of the agents was a multilayer comprised of eight alternating layers. The deposition onto fiber or paper had no effect on tensile strength or the pore structure of the substrate.
