China’s bond and strict containment measures have been proved (in practice) to significantly reduce the spread of the epidemic. This was obtained through the use of emergency control measures in the epidemic areas and the integration of resources from multiple systems, including business, community, technology, education, and transportation, across the country. In order to better understand how China has managed to reduce the public health and economic impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic, this editorial systematically reviews the specific measures for infection prevention and control of the disease. The best practices for COVID-19 eradication in China provide evidence-based strategies that could be replicated in other countries.

O parasitóide Aphidius colemani Viereck, 1912 apresenta alta mortalidade em temperaturas constantes superiores a 25°C. Provavelmente esta é a causa do insucesso no controle biológico de Aphis gossypii Glover, 1877 com o uso de A. colemani em temperaturas elevadas em casas de vegetação. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a resposta a diferentes temperaturas de indivíduos de A. colemani, originários de diferentes regiões climáticas do estado de Minas Gerais. Indivíduos de A. colemani foram coletados nos municípios de Juramento, Lavras e São Gotardo, e criados em laboratório por três gerações em A. gossypii em plantas de pepino, em sala climatizada (22±2°C, 70±10 UR e 12h de fotofase). Uma fêmea de A. colemani, acasalada e com 24-48h de vida, foi liberada por um período de uma hora em uma placa de Petri (15 cm) contendo 20 ninfas de 2° ínstar de A. gossypii em um disco foliar de pepino (4 cm de diâmetro) sobre uma solução ágar/água a 1%. Os pulgões parasitados foram mantidos em câmaras climáticas nas temperaturas de 16, 19, 22, 25 e 28±1ºC, com UR de 70±10% e fotofase de 12h. Nas temperaturas de 16 e 28°C, a emergência dos parasitóides originários de Juramento (65,9 e 35,4%) e São Gotardo (71,4 e 47,6%) foi significativamente inferior àquelas encontradas para os de Lavras (87,1 e 80,9%). A temperatura mais adequada para o desenvolvimento de indivíduos de A. colemani oriundos de Lavras foi mais alta do que para aqueles oriundos de Juramento e São Gotardo. Indivíduos de Lavras apresentaram alta emergência a 28°C, demonstrando a existência de indivíduos de A. colemani com tolerância a temperaturas mais altas. Esses resultados abrem novas perspectivas quanto a possibilidades de utilização de diferentes biótipos de A. colemani no controle biológico de A. gossypii em cultivos protegidos.The parasitoid Aphidius colemani Viereck, 1912 presents higher mortality at constant temperatures above 25°C, and probably it is the cause of the failure on the biological control of Aphis gossypii Glover, 1877 when this parasitoid is used at higher temperatures in greenhouses. The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of different temperatures on individuals of A. colemani from different climatic regions of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Individuals of A. colemani were collected in the localities of Juramento, Lavras and São Gotardo, and reared in laboratory (22±2°C, 70±10% RH and 12h photophase) for three generations in the host A. gossypii, on cucumber plants. One mated female of A. colemani, 24-48 h old, was released for one hour, in a Petri dish (15cm) with 20 nymphs of 2nd instar of A. gossypii on a leaf disk of cucumber (4 cm of diameter) laid on a layer of agar-water (1%). The parasitized aphids were kept at 16, 19, 22, 25 and 28±1°C, 70±10% RH and 12h photophase. The emergence rates of individuals from Juramento (65.9 and 35.4%) and São Gotardo (71.4 and 47.6%) were lower compared to those from Lavras (87.1 and 80.9%) at 16 and 28°C. The more suitable temperature for the development of A. colemani from Lavras was higher than those for individuals from Juramento and São Gotardo. The individuals from Lavras showed highest emergence at 28°C, and this demonstrated the existence of individuals of A. colemani with tolerance to higher temperatures. These results open news perspectives on the use of different strains of A. colemani on biological control of A. gossypii in protected cultivation.

A utilização de biofertilizantes é interessante para a agricultura, pois além de ser uma alternativa econômica e ambiental favorável, aproveita resíduos orgânicos e reduz a aplicação de fertilizantes minerais. Objetivou-se com este trabalho, avaliar o efeito de doses de biofertilizante de origem bovina (efluente de biodigestor) aplicadas no solo e de dois níveis de irrigação na cultura da alface. O experimento foi conduzido em ambiente protegido, em vasos, aplicando-se ao solo diferentes doses de biofertilizante de origem bovina obtido de reator anaeróbio (10, 20, 40 e 60 m3 ha-1) e adubação mineral como testemunha em dois níveis de irrigação calculados com base em 50 e 100% de evapotranspiração de referência. As plantas de alface foram analisadas em: altura, número de folhas, diâmetro de copa, massa de matéria fresca e massa de matéria seca da parte aérea. Os tratamentos com biofertilizante apresentam melhores resultados que a adubação mineral, e tem aumento com a elevação das doses de biofertilizante; a maior dose (60 m3 ha-1) apresentou os melhores resultados em todas as variáveis analisadas. Para a massa seca, a adubação mineral apresentou maiores valores. Os níveis de irrigação não influenciaram no crescimento das plantas.

Esta pesquisa objetivou avaliar a influência da adubação orgânica e mineral na produção de laranjas. O estudo foi conduzido no município de Maravilha em um pomar de laranja cultivar Açúcar, com plantas de segundo ano enxertadas sobre limão-cravo. O delineamento foi em blocos casualizados com parcelas subdivididas. Nas parcelas foram avaliados os estercos de aves e de suínos e nas subparcelas, adubação mineral (zero, dose integral de N, dose integral de NPK e meia dose de NPK). Avaliou-se a produção e o número de frutos por planta de 2003 a 2006. Em 2006 foram realizadas análises foliares e de solo (zero a10cm). Houve respostas significativas em produção à aplicação de esterco e adubo mineral. Este efeito positivo deve ser creditado ao suprimento de N. A calagem e a adubação com P e K na implantação do pomar propiciaram boas produtividades nas quatro safras iniciais. Os teores de nutrientes nas folhas estavam altos em todos os tratamentos. Repetidas aplicações de esterco e de adubo mineral na superfície do solo propiciaram o acúmulo de nutrientes na camada de zero a 10cm e aumento do pH e MO com o uso de esterco de aves.

A mandioca (Manihot esculenta Crantz) é uma espécie nativa do Brasil central presente em todos os territórios tropicais e subtropicais, tem boa adaptabilidade, tolerância a seca e apresenta rendimento satisfatório em solos de baixa fertilidade, cultura promissora, na agricultura familiar, contribuindo no desenvolvimento social e econômico do Brasil. Apesar disso, tradicionalmente a cultura é conduzida com baixo investimento financeiro, geralmente, não havendo aplicação de corretivos e fertilizantes em doses adequadas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de dois tipos de preparo de solo; realização ou não de gessagem; e quatro doses de calcário na produtividade da mandioca (IAC 12). O experimento foi desenvolvido em parcela subsubdividida com 24 repetições. Avaliaram-se dois tipos de preparo de solo um com arado e grade e o outro somente grade; gessagem (0 e 650kg/ha); e quatro doses de calcário (0; 600; 1000; 1400kg/ha). A colheita foi realizada 10 meses após o plantio e foi determinada a produtividade por planta. Foi realizada análise de variância e teste de Scott-Knott para comparação de médias. Verificou-se que não houve resposta significativa para nenhum dos tratamentos realizados.
