Para isso, utilizou-se como base o artigo publicado por Antônio Secundino de São José, na Revista Ceres, em 1944, comparando-se as práticas agrícolas recomendadas para a cultura do milho na época com as atualmente empregadas. Naquela época, não havia preocupação direta com os aspectos conservacionistas de solo e água. Todavia, iniciava-se o processo de elevação da produtividade de grãos, com base no uso de mais insumos, todos obtidos na propriedade, como o esterco bovino, e de obtenção das próprias sementes. A cultura do milho era tratada de maneira individualizada, sem os conceitos de integração de lavoura, pecuária e conservação de solo e água. Atualmente, muitos conceitos recomendados há 70 anos ainda são utilizados na agricultura orgânica e familiar. Por outro lado, no cultivo em grande escala da cultura do milho utilizam-se os mais variados insumos, como fertilizantes sintéticos, herbicidas, inseticidas, sementes de híbridos (com ou sem eventos transgênicos), aplicação de fungicidas, plantio e colheita mecanizados. Conclui-se que nos últimos 70 anos ocorreram muitas mudanças no sistema de produção de milho e que estas mudanças foram fundamentais para que a produtividade aumentasse 3,79 vezes no período analisado. Todo o sistema de produção foi modificado em relação aos fatores de construção e proteção da produtividade, que por sua vez, deram suporte para que o Brasil chegasse a posição de terceiro maior produtor e exportador de milho do mundo, saltando de 5,6 milhões de toneladas em 1944 para 81,5 milhões de toneladas em 2013. Conventional breeding takes a too long time for responding timely to market demands, climatic variations and new biological threads. The correlation of genetic markers with the plant phenotype and final product quality is usually poor. Additionally, the creation and use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are often legally restricted and rejected by customers that demand natural products. Therefore, we developed a non-targeted metabolomics approach to accelerate conventional breeding. Our main idea was to identify highly heritable metabolites in Coffea canephora seedlings, which are linked to coffee cup quality. We employed a maternal half-sibs approach to estimate the metabolites heritability in open-pollinated plants in both leaves and fruits at an early plant development stage. We evaluated the cup quality of roasted beans and correlated highly heritable metabolites with sensory quality traits of the coffee beverage. Our results provide new insights about the heritability of metabolites of C. canephora plants. Furthermore, we found strong correlations between highly heritable metabolites and sensory traits of coffee beverage. We revealed metabolites that serve as predictive metabolite markers at an early development stage of coffee plants. Informed decisions can be made on plants of six months old, compared to 3.5 to 5 years using conventional selection methods. The metabolome-wide association study (MWAS) drastically accelerates the selection of C. canephora plants with desirable characteristics and represents a novel approach for the focused breeding of crops. En este estudio se realiza un análisis descriptivo del bilingüismo social de la comunidad de Juchitán con el propósito de identificar las habilidades lingüísticas de los hablantes en zapoteco y en español, así como los cambios que ambas lenguas han tenido intergeneracionalmente. La recolección de datos se realizó por medio de un cuestionario aplicado a una muestra de la población de 382 personas de un total de 74 825 habitantes. Durante este procedimiento, a los encuestados se les solicitó que evaluaran su nivel de competencia comunicativa tanto en zapoteco como en español. Los resultados muestran que el zapoteco presenta una reducción considerable de su transmisión intergeneracional, lo que se observa en el hecho de que la mayoría de los niños son hablantes monolingües del español y solo un número reducido de ellos puede entender el zapoteco. En contraste, el español se ha consolidado en todos los grupos generacionales, aún entre los adultos mayores. Debido a esto, se concluye que el zapoteco presenta un estado avanzado de desplazamiento lingüístico en la comunidad de Juchitán. This infection spreads mainly through direct contact with Flügge micro droplets or core droplets that remain suspended as aerosol. Moreover, it has been reported that infected subjects, both with and without clinical signs of COVID-19, can transmit the virus. Since the infection typically enters through mouth, nose, and eyes, dentistry is one of the medical practices at highest risk of infection due to the frequent production of aerosol and the constant presence of saliva. The World Health Organization (WHO) has suggested that only emergency/urgent procedures should be performed during the coronavirus outbreak. Considering the virus’ route of transmission, a specific protocol should be applied to reduce the risk of infection in addition to measures that prevent the spread of infection from a patient to another person or medical tools and equipment (cross-infection). This infection spreads mainly through direct contact with Flügge micro droplets or core droplets that remain suspended as aerosol. Moreover, it has been reported that infected subjects, both with and without clinical signs of COVID-19, can transmit the virus. Since the infection typically enters through mouth, nose, and eyes, dentistry is one of the medical practices at highest risk of infection due to the frequent production of aerosol and the constant presence of saliva. The World Health Organization (WHO) has suggested that only emergency/urgent procedures should be performed during the coronavirus outbreak. Considering the virus’ route of transmission, a specific protocol should be applied to reduce the risk of infection in addition to measures that prevent the spread of infection from a patient to another person or medical tools and equipment (cross-infection). This protocol should be implemented by modifying both patient management and clinical practice, introducing particular devices and organizational practices.
