Dentro de la economía de exportación de productos agrícolas es la segunda mayor, detrás del banano, ya que se exportan más de US$ 900 millones al año (2017), lo cual hace que existan oportunidades de mejora en el manejo y aprovechamiento de esta biomasa, y se deba valorar el estudio a mayor profundidad del desarrollo de un proceso de biorrefinería para la obtención de productos de mayor valor agregado como biocombustibles, energía, biomoléculas, entre otros. El principal criterio empleado por los agricultores fue la arquitectura erecta (ausencia o poca emisión de guías y sin acame) para facilitar el tránsito por el terreno en las labores de deshierba y fumigación, seguido del tipo, tamaño y color de grano e incidencia de patógenos. Se seleccionaron, en el año 2005, dos líneas promisorias, que pasarán a la etapa de validación. El diseño propuesto es una modificación de las estructuras rústicas empleadas por los agricultores, y utiliza la ventilación cruzada y materiales reflectivos, mediante la elevación del piso donde se coloca el frijol y la eliminación de paredes laterales. Se evaluaron tres colores de coberturas plásticas: transparente, negro y gris, de 0,0038 cm de grosor, y se empleó como tratamiento testigo el diseño con plástico transparente usado por los agricultores (cuatro tratamientos). Se midió la temperatura y la humedad en el interior del material vegetal colocado dentro de las estructuras (0,20 y 1,25 m de profundidad) y en el ambiente exterior durante 16 días, con dos periodos de mediciones de ocho días consecutivos cada uno y tres repeticiones (tres fincas). Se evaluó además el contenido de humedad y el tiempo de cocción de los granos. Los materiales plásticos reflectivos y el diseño bioclimático mejoraron el microclima en el interior de las estructuras de almacenamiento y se redujo significativamente el tiempo de cocción de los frijoles, en comparación con los diseño tradicional con plástico trasparente empleado por los agricultores. Healthcare workers (HCWs) facing COVID-19 pandemic represented an at-risk population for new psychosocial COVID-19 strain and consequent mental health symptoms. The aim of the present study was to identify the possible impact of working contextual and personal variables (age, gender, working position, years of experience, proximity to infected patients) on professional quality of life, represented by compassion satisfaction (CS), burnout, and secondary traumatization (ST), in HCWs facing COVID-19 emergency. Further, two multivariable linear regression analyses were fitted to explore the association of mental health selected outcomes, anxiety and depression, with some personal and working characteristics that are COVID-19-related. A sample of 265 HCWs of a major university hospital in central Italy was consecutively recruited at the outpatient service of the Occupational Health Department during the acute phase of COVID-19 pandemic. HCWs were assessed by Professional Quality of Life-5 (ProQOL-5), the Nine-Item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and the Seven-Item Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7) to evaluate, respectively, CS, burnout, ST, and symptoms of depression and anxiety. Females showed higher ST than males, while frontline staff and healthcare assistants reported higher CS rather than second-line staff and physicians, respectively. Burnout and ST, besides some work or personal variables, were associated to depressive or anxiety scores. The COVID-19 pandemic represents a new working challenge for HCWs and intervention strategies to prevent burnout and ST to reduce the risk of adverse mental health outcomes are needed. In addition to international guidelines, local institutions demand rapid and practical approaches easily replicable in different populations and contests. The principal aim of this paper is to highlight and share the experience of an Occupational Health Department responsible for monitoring hospital staff conditions during the SARS-COV-2 pandemic phase 1. The multidisciplinary team of the Occupational Health Department of a major university hospital in central Italy (AOUP) developed a specific protocol called PsicoCovid19 in order to provide targeted help, based on new psychosocial risk factors, to workers involved in the COVID-19 emergency to preserve hospital staff health. As of the date of this report, 106 workers (79 female, 27 male, mean age respectively, 51 ± 9.8, 45.7± 10.1) requested this service, reporting mild to moderate subjective distress. Approximately 81% of all the participants were already monitored before the outbreak of the pandemic. Among the total sample, 60% received a remodeling of a previous therapeutic program. Meanwhile, 7% passed from a psychiatric therapy to a combination therapy with the addition of a psychological treatment. The results demonstrate that those who asked for help were primarily female nurses who already presented with mental health vulnerabilities. A more gender-specific, clinical approach is needed. Algunas localidades mexicanas susceptibles al cambio climático están en las rutas migratorias que atraviesan el país, mientras que otras con la misma susceptibilidad posiblemente sean receptoras de emergentes asentamientos indefinidos de quienes desde 2019 esperan respuesta a su solicitud de refugio en Estados Unidos. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la posible relación entre las localidades mexicanas con problemas climáticos y el tránsito de migraciones centroamericanas, así como referir los riesgos de aquellas que sean receptoras de los nuevos asentamientos. Con base en fuentes documentales y hemerográficas y resultados empíricos, se analizan esos procesos desde una perspectiva histórico- procesual. Las conclusiones apuntan a vacíos de conocimiento; flujos migratorios mixtos, que incluyen a migrantes por razones climáticas; a tránsito por un bajo número de localidades mexicanas con riesgo climático, dispersas por las rutas migratorias; a procesos con algunas conexiones y a otros que, sin tenerlas, no escapan al riesgo de potenciar posibles intolerancias sociales.   Abstract Climate change in Central America generates, among other effects, migrations inside and outside the countries of origin. The Central American migration that travels through Mexico is important because of its volume, because it is undocumented and diversified socially, by gender and age. Some Mexican localities susceptible to climate change are on the migratory routes through Mexico, while others with the same susceptibility may be receivers of emerging indefinite settlements from those who expect a response to their request for refuge in the United States, since 2019. The objective of this article is to analyze the possible relationship between the Mexican localities with climatic problems and the transit of Central American migrations, as well as referring the risks of those who are receivers of the new settlements. Based on secondary sources and empirical results, these processes are analyzed from a procedural historical perspective. The conclusions point to knowledge gaps, mixed migratory flows that include migrants for climatic reasons, transit through a low number of Mexican towns with climate risk, dispersed by migratory routes and also to processes with some connections and others that, without having them, do not escape the risk of fostering possible social intolerances.
