We focused on the application of a stochastic approach in fitting the model parameters using a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) solver, to improve the reliability of predictions in the medium term (30 days). We analyzed the official data and the predicted evolution of the epidemic in the Italian regions, and we compared the results with the data and predictions of Spain and South Korea. We linked the model equations to the changes in people’s mobility, with reference to Google’s COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports. We discussed the effectiveness of policies taken by different regions and countries and how they have an impact on past and future infection scenarios. El porcentaje de semilla leguminosa respecto a las otras especies en las asociaciones triples fue 40:30:30 y en las cuádruples 40:20:20:20. El porcentaje de semilla de cada especie se calculó con base en la cantidad recomendada para siembra en monocultivo. Se utilizó el diseño de bloques completos al azar, con 13 tratamientos y 3 repeticiones. Las variables determinadas fueron producción de materia verde por especie, por asociación y por las plantas arvenses y materia seca por asociación. Además, se observó la tolerancia de las especies al ataque de plagas y enfermedades. Los resultados indicaron que entre las especies estudiadas las más promisorias son el nabo forrajero, la avena y la vicia, conformando la asociación vicia × avena × nabo forrajero. El objetivo del trabajo fue plantear y validar una metodología para la selección de imágenes satelitales que permitan detectar la variación espacial de la profundidad del suelo. Se utilizaron 180 a 190 capas de información derivadas de bandas e índices espectrales del satélite LANDSAT 5 TM durante el período 1992-2011, provenientes de seis campos de producción agrícola-ganadera. En dichos campos se realizaron observaciones de profundidad efectiva del suelo (PES) y se seleccionaron las escenas que presentaron mayor correlación. El modelo se validó utilizando un conjunto independiente de datos e índices de error (RMSE, MAE y R.). No se observó una banda o índice con mayor ajuste a los restantes en todos los sitios y fechas. Sitios con mayor proporción de suelos someros y valores distribuidos en el rango 0-100 cm obtuvieron los mayores coeficientes R.. La utilización de una larga serie histórica del satélite LANDSAT 5 TM con la metodología propuesta permitió la identificación y selección de imágenes de buena correlación con la PES. Por ello, el objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la selección de hábitat de la nutria neotropical (Lontra longicaudis), en zonas con influencia de la represa hidroeléctrica del río Peñas Blancas y algunos de sus tributarios, con el fin de recomendar acciones para la conservación de la nutria. Se muestreó el río Peñas Blancas y tres de sus tributarios en busca de indicios de la nutria y la medición de siete variables ambientales con el fin determinar la probabilidad de ocurrencia y detectabilidad. Además, se determinó el uso de presas por parte de la nutria neotropical. Las variables ambientales mostraron que el ancho del río y la proporción de bosque fueron las variables más influyentes en la ocurrencia de la especie. El caudal de compensación del río Peñas Blancas mostró la probabilidad de ocurrencia más alta. En cuanto a la dieta de la nutria, los peces fueron la categoría de presa más frecuente en los últimos años. Los datos obtenidos indican la influencia de condiciones físicas del río sobre la ocurrencia de la nutria y la importancia de los peces como componente alimenticio. Para sitios actualmente sembrados, en marzo, con maíces de ciclo largo (220 días), esto significará el cambio futuro a siembras de junio con materiales de ciclo corto (140 días), tolerantes a sequía, carácter negativamente asociado con asincronía floral, y el movimiento altitudinal de cultivares. Con fines de selección y de valorar el desplazamiento altitudinal, en 2010, se colectaron 48 criollos de ciclo corto al sur del lago de Cuitzeo (1,850 msnm) y la Ciénaga de Zacapu (2,000 msnm). Se evaluaron, en verano/otoño de 2010, en dos localidades de esta última, bajo diseño anidado en bloques completos aleatorizados con tres repeticiones. Para diez variables, los valores medios fueron: días a floración masculina, 83.60 ± 5.31; días a floración femenina, 85.10 ± 5.89; asincronía floral, 1.51 ± 0.54; días a madurez, 137.20 ± 6.06; días de floración femenina a secado de brácteas, 52.10 ± 6.40; altura de mazorca, 121.40 cm ± 26.08; altura de planta, 236.50 cm ± 34.54; longitud de mazorca, 147 ± 26.03 mm; diámetro de mazorca, 49.60 ± 6.35 mm y rendimiento, 1,837 ± 474 kg ha-1. Excepto para rendimiento y longitud de mazorca, hubo diferencias significativas que permiten aplicar selección. 77% de las colectas fueron precoces y 4% tardías. La asincronía estuvo positivamente asociada con días a floración y altura de mazorca. Las colectas de Cuitzeo fueron las más tardías y de mayor asincronía; no se recomienda trasladarlas al sitio de evaluación.
