Though, health care providers are required with sufficient knowledge, skills, preparedness and best practices towards corona virus 2019, there are limited studies in Ethiopia. This study aimed to assess health care providers' level of risk perception, preparedness and its associated factors among HCWs in North Central Ethiopia, 2020. An institutional-based cross-sectional survey was conducted among 217 health care providers working in South Gondar zone Hospitals from May 15-30, 2020. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire. Data were coded, entered, cleaned and checked using Epi data statistical software version 4.2.0.0 and taken in STATA Version 14 statistical software for analysis. Binary logistic regression was used for the analysis. Odds ratio along with 95% CI were estimated to measure the strength of the association. Descriptive statistics are presented in figures, text, and tables. The level of high risk perception among frontline health care workers was 57.6% (95% CI: 56.9, 58.3). Almost half, 49.8% health care providers were prepared for corona virus pandemic and only 43.78% of health care providers had good knowledge regarding COVID -19. Having good knowledge (Adjusted Odd Ratio (AOR) = 2.83; 95% CI: 1.49, 5.34), training on COVID -19 (AOR = 2.16; 95% CI:1.07, 4.39), and avoiding meeting suspected/confirmed of COVID -19 (AOR = 2.67; 95% CI:1.05, 6.83) were significantly associated with risk perception. Risk perception, knowledge and preparedness for corona virus pandemic were low. Ensuring the improvement of knowledge, preparedness, and encouragement is important. Andrews Description An account of the resource We quantify methane emissions and their 2010–2017 trends by sector in the contiguous United States (CONUS), Canada, and Mexico by inverse analysis of in situ (GLOBALVIEWplus CH4 ObsPack) and satellite (GOSAT) atmospheric methane observations. The inversion uses as a prior estimate the national anthropogenic emission inventories for the three countries reported by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), and the Instituto Nacional de Ecología y Cambio Climático (INECC) in Mexico to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and thus serves as an evaluation of these inventories in terms of their magnitudes and trends. Emissions are optimized with a Gaussian mixture model (GMM) at 0.5∘×0.625∘ resolution and for individual years. Optimization is done analytically using lognormal error forms. This yields closed-form statistics of error covariances and information content on the posterior (optimized) estimates, allows better representation of the high tail of the emission distribution, and enables construction of a large ensemble of inverse solutions using different observations and assumptions. We find that GOSAT and in situ observations are largely consistent and complementary in the optimization of methane emissions for North America. Mean 2010–2017 anthropogenic emissions from our base GOSAT + in situ inversion, with ranges from the inversion ensemble, are 36.9 (32.5–37.8) Tg a−1 for CONUS, 5.3 (3.6–5.7) Tg a−1 for Canada, and 6.0 (4.7–6.1) Tg a−1 for Mexico. These are higher than the most recent reported national inventories of 26.0 Tg a−1 for the US (EPA), 4.0 Tg a−1 for Canada (ECCC), and 5.0 Tg a−1 for Mexico (INECC). The correction in all three countries is largely driven by a factor of 2 underestimate in emissions from the oil sector with major contributions from the south-central US, western Canada, and southeastern Mexico. Total CONUS anthropogenic emissions in our inversion peak in 2014, in contrast to the EPA report of a steady decreasing trend over 2010–2017. This reflects offsetting effects of increasing emissions from the oil and landfill sectors, decreasing emissions from the gas sector, and flat emissions from the livestock and coal sectors. We find decreasing trends in Canadian and Mexican anthropogenic methane emissions over the 2010–2017 period, mainly driven by oil and gas emissions. Girard Description An account of the resource The structure and physical properties of a snowpack and their temporal evolution may be simulated using meteorological data and a snow metamorphism model. Such an approach may meet limitations related to potential divergences and accumulated errors, to a limited spatial resolution, to wind or topography-induced local modulations of the physical properties of a snow cover, etc. Exogenous data are then required in order to constrain the simulator and improve its performance over time. Synthetic-aperture radars (SARs) and, in particular, recent sensors provide reflectivity maps of snow-covered environments with high temporal and spatial resolutions. The radiometric properties of a snowpack measured at sufficiently high carrier frequencies are known to be tightly related to some of its main physical parameters, like its depth, snow grain size and density. SAR acquisitions may then be used, together with an electromagnetic backscattering model (EBM) able to simulate the reflectivity of a snowpack from a set of physical descriptors, in order to constrain a physical snowpack model. In this study, we introduce a variational data assimilation scheme coupling TerraSAR-X radiometric data into the snowpack evolution model Crocus. The physical properties of a snowpack, such as snow density and optical diameter of each layer, are simulated by Crocus, fed by the local reanalysis of meteorological data (SAFRAN) at a French Alpine location. These snowpack properties are used as inputs of an EBM based on dense media radiative transfer (DMRT) theory, which simulates the total backscattering coefficient of a dry snow medium at X and higher frequency bands. After evaluating the sensitivity of the EBM to snowpack parameters, a 1D-Var data assimilation scheme is implemented in order to minimize the discrepancies between EBM simulations and observations obtained from TerraSAR-X acquisitions by modifying the physical parameters of the Crocus-simulated snowpack. The algorithm then re-initializes Crocus with the modified snowpack physical parameters, allowing it to continue the simulation of snowpack evolution, with adjustments based on remote sensing information. This method is evaluated using multi-temporal TerraSAR-X images acquired over the specific site of the Argentière glacier (Mont-Blanc massif, French Alps) to constrain the evolution of Crocus. Results indicate that X-band SAR data can be taken into account to modify the evolution of snowpack simulated by Crocus. To estimate the costs related to COVID-19 exposure and infection among HCP in Greece. Data were retrieved from the national database of SARS-CoV-2 infections and from the database of HCP exposed to COVID-19. A cost-of-illness analysis was performed to estimate total, direct and indirect, costs. We studied 254 HCP with COVID-19 and 3,332 HCP exposed to COVID-19 during the first epidemic wave. Of the 254 HCP with COVID-19, 49 (19.3%) were hospitalized (mean hospitalization: 11.6 days) and four were admitted to intensive care unit (mean duration: 10.8 days). Overall, 1,332 (40%) exposed HCP had a mean duration of absenteeism of 7.5 days while 252 (99.2%) HCP with COVID-19 had a mean duration of absenteeism of 25.8 days. The total costs for the management of the two groups were estimated at 1,735,830 Euros (772,890 Euros for the HCP with COVID-19 and 962,940 Euros for the exposed HCP). Absenteeism accounted for the large share of total costs (80.4% of all expenditures), followed by costs for RT-PCR and hospitalization costs (10.2% and 6.5% of all expenditures, respectively). Our study confirms that COVID-19 is associated with increased rates and duration of absenteeism among HCP. Indirect costs and particularly absenteeism is the major driver of total costs among exposed to and infected with COVID-19 HCP. The estimated total costs are underestimated. Studies are needed to explore the impact of COVID-19 vaccination of HCP on absenteeism and COVID-19-associated costs. Esto se logra a través del análisis de experiencias previas en la formulación de planes de desarrollo, ordenamiento territorial, desarrollo sostenible crecimiento económico, conservación ambiental, cobertura y calidad de los servicios públicos. Es importante adelantar que el alcance de esta investigación es municipal, cantonal o departamental dependiendo de la división política administrativa que corresponda a cada país y tiene un sesgo cultural latinoamericano, considerando el potencial que han demostrado los municipios de esta región en realizar importantes progresos en materia de desarrollo local.
