Here we focused on the antiviral potential of the medicinal herb, Saxifraga spinulosa (SS). Water-soluble extracts of SS were prepared, and their virus-inactivating activity was evaluated against the human virus pathogens SARS-CoV-2 and IAV; we also examined virucidal activity against feline calicivirus and murine norovirus, which are surrogates for human NV. Among our findings, we found that SS-derived gallocatechin gallate compounds were capable of inactivating all viruses tested. Interestingly, a pyrogallol-enriched fraction (Fr 1C) inactivated all viruses more rapidly and effectively than did any of the component compounds used alone. We found that 25 µg/mL of Fr 1C inactivated >99.6% of SARS-CoV-2 within 10 s (reduction of ≥2.33 log10 TCID50/mL). Fr 1C resulted in the disruption of viral genomes and proteins as determined by gel electrophoresis, electron microscopy, and reverse transcription–PCR. Taken together, our results reveal the potential of Fr 1C for development as a novel antiviral disinfectant. Mycorrhization is one of the biological techniques used in many of them; however, in pastures it has not been widely extended in production and the studies have aimed at legumes and very few grasses. Mycorrhizae allow successful application by means of seed covering. On the other hand, mycorrhizal relationships can be the key to decrease the amount of fertilizers (especially phosphates) that should be applied to obtain good yields; in soils with high P contents the inoculation with mycorrhiza increases growth and the early establishment of crops. Plants develop a higher biological quality, regarding more height, vigor and leaf area, and yields are increased (between 15 and 50%). It protects roots against certain pathogenic fungi. Se utilizó un diseño totalmente aleatorizado y se realizaron 15 observaciones (a los 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 y 16 días de emergencia). Las medias se compararon a través de un análisis descriptivo. El efecto del T1 fue notable durante todo el período; a partir del cuarto día se observaron 45 plántulas emergidas, lo que representó el 11,2% del total de las tratadas con este biofertilizante, y el último día del estudio había emergido el 96,2%. En el T2 no se observaron plántulas emergidas en ningún momento. Se concluye que el EcoMic® ejerció un efecto positivo en la emergencia de las plántulas de J. curcas al ser utilizado como inóculo en condiciones de laboratorio. Se recomienda realizar estudios pregerminativos para determinar la dormancia en la semilla de Jatropha, teniendo en cuenta el empleo del EcoMic® como uno de los tratamientos.In order to study the effect of EcoMic® on the emergence of Jatropha curcas seedlings, an observation test was conducted in the laboratory of chemical analysis of the Experimental Station of Pastures and Forages «Indio Hatuey». Newly-harvested seeds were used, in two treatments: seeds inoculated with EcoMic® (T1), and without inoculation (T2), with four replications of 100 seeds each. A completely randomized design was used and 15 observations were made (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 days after emergence). The means were compared through a descriptive analysis. The effect of T1 was remarkable throughout the period; since the fourth day 45 emerged seedlings were observed, which represented 11,2% of the total seedlings treated with this biofertilizer, and the last day of the study 96,2% had emerged. In T2 no emerged seedlings were observed at any moment. EcoMic® was concluded to exert a positive effect on the emergence of J. curcas seedlings when used as inoculum under laboratory conditions. To conduct pregerminative treatments is recommended in order to determine dormancy in Jatropha seeds, taking into consideration the use of EcoMic® as one of the treatments. Here, a Teladorsagia circumcincta prototype vaccine was administered to two sheep breeds which differ in their relative levels of resistance to infection with GIN. Vaccination of the more susceptible Canaria Sheep (CS) breed induced significant reductions in worm length and numbers of worm eggs in utero (EIU) when compared to control CS sheep. Considerando nosso interesse pelo fenômeno, o objetivo da pesquisa realizada foi analisar as principais mudanças alimentares e as condições para a oferta segura de alimentos em quantidade, qualidade e variedade para a população e turistas que visitam a região. A metodologia foi qualitativa com abordagem etnográfica, compreendendo: trabalho de campo, observação participante, entrevistas individuais e análise de discurso dos dados. As informações foram fornecidas pelas famílias agricultoras, filiadas a Associação de Agricultores Ecológicos das Encostas da Serra Geral (AGRECO), somando um total de cinco (5) famílias com produção de alimentos orgânicos e pousadas familiares, hospedagem e alimentação de turistas / visitantes. Os resultados apontaram mudanças e transformações nos hábitos alimentares influenciados pela adesão à AGRECO e pelo contato com culturas diferentes (visitantes - turistas e pesquisadores). Estes novos hábitos alimentares são influenciados pela nova forma de plantio e pelo modelo turístico praticado no município. Nesse sentido, percebeu-se que a prática da agricultura orgânica para oferta de alimentos nas pousadas contribuiu para que as famílias e seus hóspedes (turistas das pousadas) tivessem uma transição alimentar com adaptações, melhorias na qualidade de vida dos envolvidos e consciência ecológica – social.
