Drought may reduce their carbon uptake, increasing their vulnerability to stress and affecting their growth recovery and resilience. We investigated the recent growth rates and responses to the climate and drought in eight Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica) plantations located along a wide climate gradient from wetter sites in south-eastern France and north Spain to dry sites in south-eastern Spain. The cedar growth increased in response to the elevated precipitation from the prior winter to the current summer, but the influence of winter precipitation on growth gained importance in the driest sites. The growth responsiveness to climate and drought peaked in those dry sites, but the growth resilience did not show a similar gradient. The Atlas cedar growth was driven by the total precipitation during the hydrological year and this association strengthened from the 1980s onwards, a pattern related to the winter North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO). High winter NAO indices and drier conditions were associated with lower growth. At the individual level, growth resilience was related to tree age, while growth recovery and year-to-year growth variability covaried. Plantations’ resilience to drought depends on both climate and tree-level features. A partir de los resultados, se identifican no solo las habilidades y destrezas más necesarias, sino también las diferencias entre estos territorios europeos. Para ello, complementariamente, se incluyeron datos de precipitación y evaporación total de fuentes como Climate Hazards Center InfraRed Precipitation with Station data (CHIRPS), el reanálisis atmosférico (ERA5), Global Precipitation Climatology Center (GPCC) y Global Land Evaporation Amsterdam Model (GLEAM). Las comparaciones entre los ensambles de los modelos y las observaciones se hicieron utilizando métodos gráficos y métodos cuantitativos, entre ellos: diagramas de cajas, porcentajes de sesgo, eficiencia de Nash-Sutcliffe, entre otros. Los resultados evidencian que los valores promedio de precipitación están adecuadamente representados, en términos de su temporalidad y magnitud, por el ensamble del modelo RegCM, mientras que los valores promedio de evaporación total están mejor representados por el ensamble del modelo REMO en términos de la temporalidad, más no en su magnitud. Por otra parte, las estimaciones de caudal de largo plazo evidencian que los valores de evaporación total proporcionados por los modelos permiten una adecuada estimación del caudal promedio de largo plazo, pero no la adecuada estimación del ciclo anual de caudales. Este trabajo es pionero en la evaluación de los datos de precipitación y evaporación total mensual suministrados por CORDEX-CORE en el Orinoco colombiano, sienta precedentes para la incorporación de datos de modelos regionales para fines hidrológicos en zonas poco instrumentadas del país, y es el primer paso hacia la evaluación de escenarios regionalizados de cambio climático. Los microorganismos con capacidad solubilizadora de fósforo (MSF) son una alternativa para transformar el P a formas solubles y aprovechables por las plantas; además de brindar múltiples beneficios ambientales. Este trabajo identificó y evaluó in vitro, aislados nativos de Pseudomonas fluorescens Mingula, obtenidos de regiones guatemaltecas con suelos Andisoles que limitan la producción agrícola por la alta fijación de P. Se realizaron cultivos in vitro de la bacteria en medio National Botanical Research Institute's phosphate growth (NBRIP), con fosfato tricálcico Ca3(PO4)2 como fuente de P insoluble y se midió el índice de solubilización de fósforo (ISF). Un total de 35 aislados de P. fluorescens fueron identificados y confirmados por PCR específico. El análisis de relaciones genéticas con el marcador AFLP, mostró dos grupos: el grupo A incluyó a los aislados con ISF mayores a 1.75, mientras el grupo B incluyó a aquellos con ISF menor a 1.75. La comparación de ISF entre los aislados y departamentos, demostró diferencia estadísticamente significativa (p < .001), con el aislado Pf_33 como más eficiente. Debido al potencial de solubilización de los aislados nativos del grupo genético A (ISF > 1.75), estos se recomiendan para futuras investigaciones que determinen su respuesta a condiciones de campo y estrategias para el desarrollo de biofertilizantes. E. Smith), a mais importante praga do milho, no Brasil, é fundamental para o estabelecimento de técnicas eficientes de monitoramento e manejo. Este trabalho objetivou conhecer a distribuição espacial da praga na cultura. A distribuição espacial foi avaliada em cinco campos experimentais, de um hectare cada, divididos em 100 unidades experimentais, onde se avaliaram de cinco a dez plantas por parcela. Foi testado o ajuste das frequências observadas às esperadas, de acordo com as distribuições de Poisson, Binomial Negativa e Binomial Positiva. Spodoptera frugiperda ocorreu em elevados índices populacionais na área amostral, com correlação significativa entre a nota de injúria 3 e o número de lagartas médias, o que também ocorreu para o número de plantas infestadas com pelo menos uma lagarta média. Não houve correlação significativa entre a nota de injúria 3 e lagartas pequenas. O modelo que melhor se aproximou dos dados de distribuição da oviposição foi a Binomial Positiva, enquanto a disposição espacial de lagartas, atacando a espiga, foi descrita como aleatória. O modelo de distribuição Binomial Positiva foi o que melhor representou a distribuição espacial da população de plantas infestadas; a distribuição das lagartas de tamanho médio teve padrão de distribuição agregada. El objetivo del estudio fue estimar la fijación de carbono en biomasa total en los sistemas de producción de cacao, dominantes del Tolima, Colombia. El estudio, se realizó en Rovira y Falan, empleando un diseño experimental, completamente al azar, con seis sistemas de producción de cacao: monocultivo, sistema agroforestal (SAF) con maderables, SAF con aguacate, SAF con cítricos, SAF con frutales, y SAF con maderables y frutales y tres repeticiones. Se establecieron dos parcelas de muestreo rectangulares, de 1.000m² por unidad de muestreo, donde se identificaron y midieron los árboles con dap ≥ 10cm (diámetro del tronco a la altura del pecho -dap- y altura total -ht). Se establecieron dos sub-parcelas de 256m², por parcela principal, para medir arbustos de cacao: ht y diámetro del tronco, a 30 cm de altura (D30). Se emplearon modelos alométricos, para estimar la biomasa. El SAF con maderables y frutales y SAF con frutales presentaron la mayor biomasa total (122,0 y 72,5t/ ha). En el SAF con maderables y frutales, se evidenció el mayor almacenamiento de carbono, con 61,0t C/ha, mientras que la mayor tasa de fijación de carbono fue de 17,7t/ha/ año, para el SAF con cítricos. Los resultados sugieren que la producción de cacao, que incluyen otras especies vegetales, diversifica la producción e incrementa la seguridad alimentaria y la generación de servicios ambientales, tal como la captura de carbono atmosférico. Foi possível a utilização de amostragem probabilística, pois estava disponível um mapa com os limites das 106 propriedades da microbacia, sendo sorteadas 33 delas para a aplicação de questionários do tipo cross-section. A técnica multivariada empregada foi a análise de agrupamentos, para a qual foi utilizado o procedimento PROC CLUSTER do SAS. Nessa análise só foram considerados os dados referentes aos 22 respondentes que exerciam atividade agrícola. Após a análise unidimensional, algumas perguntas foram selecionadas com base na variabilidade entre as respostas e, a partir destas, construíram-se as variáveis necessárias para se proceder à análise multidimensional. A análise de agrupamento permitiu identificar claramente três grupos naturais entre as 22 propriedades. De acordo com as características dos componentes de cada grupo, foi possível classificá-los em: grupo 1, doze propriedades de agricultura familiar; grupo 2, seis propriedades de agricultura não familiar em pequenas áreas; e grupo 3, quatro propriedades de agricultura não familiar em grandes áreas. Embora não seja predominante (apenas 36%), a agricultura familiar é o grupo mais freqüente na microbacia do Taquara Branca.
