Resumo: A qualificação dos espaços de ensino por meio de metodologias que coloquem os estudantes em interação com a realidade é vista como uma forma de promover a formação dos profissionais das Ciências Agrárias com uma visão mais holística. Nesse sentido, o presente relato de experiência tem como objetivo contextualizar e problematizar uma experiência metodológica a partir da mediação e condução do elemento curricular de Extensão Rural no curso Técnico em Agropecuária, por meio de vivências de práticas sociais como forma de reflexão sobre a complexidade dos sistemas agrícolas. Deve-se considerar que o elemento curricular de Extensão Rural é tido como o espaço adequado para tratar dos processos de intervenção e mediação dos futuros profissionais. A atividade que será descrita foi desenvolvida no curso Técnico em Agropecuária, modalidade subsequente, do Colégio Politécnico da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), ao longo do segundo semestre de 2019. O conteúdo foi desenvolvido com alternância de aulas teóricas e vivências em propriedades da agricultura familiar do município de Agudo, Rio Grande do Sul, e organizado em conjunto com a prefeitura e a Emater-RS/Ascar. Como resultado, podem ser destacados o maior comprometimento dos estudantes, o diálogo com a sociedade e um processo mais crítico e reflexivo de ensino. A construção dessa proposta foi inspirada na vivência profissional da extensão rural e baseada nas perspectivas em diálogo com contribuições das correntes pedagógicas, como a histórico-crítica e a construtivista.

BACKGROUND: In studies of gene regulation the efficient computational detection of over-represented transcription factor binding sites is an increasingly important aspect. Several published methods can be used for testing whether a set of hypothesised co-regulated genes share a common regulatory regime based on the occurrence of the modelled transcription factor binding sites. However there is little or no information available for guiding the end users choice of method. Furthermore it would be necessary to obtain several different software programs from various sources to make a well-founded choice. METHODOLOGY: We introduce a software package, Asap, for fast searching with position weight matrices that include several standard methods for assessing over-representation. We have compared the ability of these methods to detect over-represented transcription factor binding sites in artificial promoter sequences. Controlling all aspects of our input data we are able to identify the optimal statistics across multiple threshold values and for sequence sets containing different distributions of transcription factor binding sites. CONCLUSIONS: We show that our implementation is significantly faster than more naïve scanning algorithms when searching with many weight matrices in large sequence sets. When comparing the various statistics, we show that those based on binomial over-representation and Fisher's exact test performs almost equally good and better than the others. El sistema agro-industrial-alimentario de Argentina, en el actual contexto de globalización económica, está signado desde algunas décadas ya, por el despliegue de un patrón de acumulación capitalista denominado como agronegocios. Se trata de un proceso, de transformación multidimensional y multiescalar, que presenta rupturas y continuidades con la expansión del anterior modelo de la agroindustria orientado al mercado interno a partir de regulaciones estatales. Según nuestras investigaciones desde la Comunidad de Estudios Campesinos (CEC) pudimos identificar cinco dispositivos según los cuales el agronegocio se territorializa: económico-financiero, jurídico-normativo y de políticas públicas, legitimación ideológica, formación y desarrollo tecnológico, coercitivo (CEC, 2009). Nos interesa abonar a la caracterización del despliegue del último de los dispositivos del agronegocio: el de la violencia. En esta oportunidad presentamos un análisis del conjunto de los asesinatos o muertes de campesinos e indígenas en conflictos de tierra en Argentina, desde la desregulación económica hasta la actualidad. En este sentido nos proponemos indagar el significado de la violencia sobre los cuerpos de campesinos/as e indígenas que registramos desde 1991. Nuestra hipótesis se orienta a explicar la vinculación entre la violencia rural y la desterritorialización de la emergente intencionalidad campesina.

El objetivo de este trabajo es determinar la importancia del efecto rizosfera sobre las modalidades de funcionamiento de los vegetales. Para ello, plantas anuales y perennes del género Bromus creciendo sobre dos suelos de diferente fertilidad, fueron expuestas a una atmósfera enriquecida con 14C02 en diferentes estados del ciclo de vida. El contenido de 14C de la respiración subterránea, de los compartimentos aéreos, de las rarees y del suelo fue medido luego de cada exposición, así como también el contenido de carbono y de nitrógeno de la fitomasa aérea y subterránea. Se detectó un fuerte efecto de la fertilidad del suelo sobre el crecimiento de las plantas, así como también un patrón diferente de crecimiento y de desarrollo del sistema radicular. Esos resultados indican que las plantas parecen ser capaces de controlar su crecimiento en función de la riqueza del hábitat. Ello se manifiesta igualmente en el esfuerzo reproductor quien depende directamente del 'status' de nutrientes en el suelo. El análisis de las modalidades de repartición del carbono en el sistema planta-suelo y sobre todo a nivel de la rizósfera ha permitida poner en evidencia diferencias importantes concernientes al ciclo de vida y al tipo de suelo. La integración de los resultados obtenidos en este estudio, permiten dar un sentido cualitativo al efecto rizósfera en términos de eficiencia del carbono invertido. Ello deja aparecer dos tipos de comportamientos muy diferentes y estrechamente ligados al ciclo de vida. En la especie anual, el efecto rizósfera es muy costoso en energía; varia con la fertilidad del medio y aparece como menos eficaz si se lo juzga por la cantidad de nitrógeno extraído por las plantas. Este efecto servirla para satisfacer las necesidades nutricionales en corto plazo. En la especie perenne, este efecto es menos costoso en energía y mucho más eficaz frente a la cantidad de nitrógeno extraído. Permitirla a estas plantas una explotación más eficiente del medio edáfico. Trabajo realizado en el Centro de Ecología Funcional y Evolutiva (CEFE - CNRS, Montpellier) y fue el objeto de una tesis de doctorado presentada en la Univ. de Ciencia y Técnica del Languedoc (USTl, Montpelller, Francia).

Se realiza una evaluación cuasi-experimental a través de un método de apareamiento denominado propensity score matching. Los datos provienen de las bases apiladas de la Encuesta de la Deuda Social Argentina (EDSA) del Programa del Observatorio de la Deuda Social Argentina (UCA) para los años 2010, 2011 y 2012. El artículo presenta evidencias acerca del impacto positivo de la AUH y señala efectos específicos para ciertos grupos de la población cubierta por el programa.

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal para relacionar el grado de severidad del asma bronquial y algunos factores asociados en 173 asmáticos, de los consultorios 10 y 26 del Policlínico 'Ignacio Agramonte' del municipio Camagüey, durante el año 2003. Las variables estudiadas fueron los grupos de edades, sexo, factores contribuyentes, desencadenantes y clasificación según grado de severidad, se recogieron en una encuesta y los datos se procesaron automatizadamente. Los resultados mostraron un predominio del asma bronquial en el grupo de edades de uno a nueve años (25.43 %) y de 10¿19 años (23.70 %); de los intermitentes leves (43.35 %) y persistentes leves (21.97 %), del empleo del kerosene, carbón o leña (71.09 %) entre los factores contribuyentes y de los cambios climáticos (82.08 %) entre los desencadenantes. La exposición al tabaquismo entre los factores contribuyentes y a los cambios climáticos, los alérgenos inhalados, los ejercicios, los alimentos y los factores psicológicos entre los desencadenantes, se relacionaron con el aumento de la severidad del asma bronquial.

Este estudio, basado en una revisión bibliográfica, generó un documento que está orientado a evidenciar la importancia de la asociación de cultivos para una agricultura sustentable. La siembra de especies asociadas es realizada desde épocas antiguas en América Latina y, en la actualidad, todavía es posible identificarla en diferentes territorios con predominio de una agricultura campesina. Esta lógica de valorización de la tierra puede ser aplicada con diversos arreglos, sobre la base de cultivos de ciclo corto, perenne, especies hortofrutícolas, pasturas, árboles e incluso la incorporación de crianza de animales mayores. Los principales beneficios de estos sistemas de uso de los suelos en comparación con los sistemas de monocultivo están relacionados con una mejor eficiencia del uso de recursos naturales (tierra y agua), mayor rendimiento de producto, incremento de ingresos, mitigación del cambio climático (por la mayor capacidad de almacenamiento de carbono), reducción de las poblaciones plaga y patógenos, fomento del control biológico, aumento de la diversidad poblacional de macro y microorganismos benéficos, así como el mejoramiento de la fertilidad del suelo. A pesar de que la mayoría de resultados demuestra las ventajas de esta innovación, se destaca la necesidad de generar resultados integrales que refuercen el planeamiento de esta propuesta como una alternativa de producción de alimentos altamente viable.

El objetivo es implementar un sistema de cultivos de maíz y frijol intercalados con frutales de limón persa y palma de coco. El trabajo se estableció en octubre de 2017, en el Hatillo, municipio de la Antigua, Veracruz, con árboles de frutales de limón persa y palma de coco, en cepas con la adición de abonos orgánicos. Se midieron en los frutales, altura de planta, diámetro de tallo, número de hojas y ramas, aporte de materia seca al suelo y se realizaron análisis de suelo en árboles de limón persa, palma de coco y cultivos anuales. Los resultados para limón persa presentan diferencias significativas a los 386 días, con respecto al diámetro de tallo, altura de planta, número de ramas. Con respecto a la palma de coco, el diámetro de tallo presentó diferencias significativas a partir de los 190 días, en la altura de la palma los valores fueron diferentes a los 386 días. En el aporte de materia seca el frijol negro Veracruz, aportó mayor cantidad al suelo con 8,426 t/ha; el maíz híbrido H-520 aportó mayor cantidad de materia seca en la fecha del 23 de febrero del 2018 con 11,333 t/ha. Al analizar la materia orgánica del suelo, se encontró mayor porcentaje en el sistema cultivos intercalados, superando al monocultivo de caña de azúcar.

El aislamiento de Cryptococcus neoformans var. gattii, serotipo B, a partir del medio ambiente se estableció inicialmente en Australia en 1989, en asocio con el Eucalyptus camaldulensis y posteriormente con E. tereticornis. Con estos hallazgos se postuló que desde allí, el hongo se ha podido exportar, por medio de las semillas contaminadas, a otras regiones geográficas, incluyendo Colombia. El objetivo de éste estudio fue identificar las levaduras del género Cryptococcus asociadas con especies de Eucalyptus sp., como primera evaluación en la ecología de C. neoformans var. gattii en nuestro país. Se realizó en Santafé de Bogotá, con una población de 100 árboles ubicados al centro, nororiente, oriente y occidente de la ciudad, recolectando de cada uno de ellos flores, frutos, hojas, cortezas y detritos; el procesamiento de las muestras incluyó extracción del material con una solución salina con antibióticos, siembra en medios selectivos e identificación de las especies con base en las características morfológicas, macro y microscópicas y bioquímicas. Se aislaron 27 cepas de Cryptococcus pertenecientes a 9 especies de Cryptococcus, a partir de 21 árboles ubicados en 5 zonas diferentes de la ciudad. Se aisló C. neoformans y se identificó como C. neoformans var. neoformans serotipo A. Estos datos iniciales son importantes como primera evaluación de la asociación de Cryptococcus sp. con los Eucalyptus en nuestro país.Environmental isolation of Cryptococcus neoformans var. gattii was first made in Australia in 1989 by ELLIS. He established a specific association with the tree species Eucalyptus camaldulensis and E. tereticornis. Based on his findings, ELLIS proposed that the fungus could be exported from Australia to others regions, including Colombia, by means of infected seeds. The purpose of this study was to isolate and identify Cryptococcus sp., associated with Eucalyptus trees; this is the first ecological evaluation of C. neoformans var. gattii in our country. A total of 100 Eucalyptus trees, distributed among 13 zones, located in the center, northeast, east and west of Santafé de Bogotá, were studied. Flowers, fruits, leaves, barks and Eucalyptus debris were collected. The samples were processed by extraction with saline solution containing antibiotics, cultured in selective media and the isolates were identified by morphological and biochemical characteristics. Twenty-seven isolates of 9 Cryptococcus sp. were recovered from 21 Eucalyptus trees, from 5 zones. One C. neoformans var. neoformans serotype A was recovered. The Cryptococcus associated with Eucalyptus is important because this is the first study done in our country.
