L. fischeri foi a espécie mais freqüente na copa e a que demonstrou maior ecletismo quanto ao hospedeiro, hora e local; na copa sugou mais o galo, especialmente entre 0 e 5h e, no solo, picou com maior intensidade o homem, principalmente entre 20 e 24h.In 298 hours of simultaneous sandfly captures on man, opossum and chicken in the National Park of Serra dos Órgãos, Rio de Janeiro State, 1,155 females of six species of Lutzomyia were obtained, L. ayrosai and L. hirsuta were the most numerous species, both feeding only near the ground, being decidedly anthropophilic and more active between 5 p.m. and midnight. L. fischeri was the dominant species at the canopy, where it fed chiefly on the chicken and from 4 to 5 a.m., although at ground level it fed mostly from 8 to 12 p.m. and preferred man.</text>

During two full years - from October 1981 to September 1983 - we captured sandflies using light traps in the National Park of Serra dos Órgãos, state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The traps were strategically located in the forest once every week, in the same place, from 6 p.m to 6 a.m. on the next day. In 732 hours, 2,730 sandflies of 17 species were collected, four of the species belonged to the genus Brumptomyia França & Parrot, 1921 and 13 to the genus Lutzomyia França, 1924. Males accounted for 76.3% of all specimens. L. barrettoi, L. ayrozai and L. hirsuta corresponded to 95% of the total and the first was almost twice as numerous as the other two taken jointly. L. ayrozai was more abundant in the warm wet season, L. hirsuta in the cold dry sease, which was the only part of the year when L. barrettoi could be found. The number of species and specimens was greater in an area (B) where the traps were placed near the ground, close to wild animal burrows, than in another area (A) in which the traps were located far from the ground with thick vegetation and trees with tubular roots. We believe that after feeding the females are attracted to the source of light, because a considerable number of pregnent specimens were found in the traps. As we had previously observed in captures using human baits, the sandflies were more numerous in the light traps during the new moon that at full moon.</text>

Considered for methodological issues of this article, documentary research along with an analytical-descriptive analysis based on secondary data as laws and jurisprudence which were collected on governmental websites. The Federal Constitution of 1988, in an unprecedented manner, established the small farm, since exploited by the family, as well absolutely unseizable to debts generated as a result of their productive activity. The importance of family agriculture for the country has been verified and it has been shown that the judiciary in its bodies comes, as a rule, participating in the maintenance of the family farmer in the small rural property, without losing it due to its debts, made in view of its productive activity, applying not only the constitutional principles, but also the infra-constitutional legislation.</text>

Between April and September 1983 observations were made on the relations between Thalurcnia furcata colombica and flowers in the laguna de Pedro Palo area (Cundinamarca, Colombia). The hummingbird was seen visiting 15 species of plants (beloging to 13 families) situated mainly on the edge of forest, among which the following species showed a high degree of ornithophily: Besleria solanoides (Gesneriaceae), Bomarea racemose (Amaryllidaceae), Cornutia odorata (Verbenaceae), Erythrina edulis (Fabaceae) and Palicourea popayanensis (Rubiaceae). Nectar was available for hummingbirds during the six months of study. Although males and females of the species had similar habitat and food preferences, a relatively small number of agressive encounters between them was recorded. Three mechanisms were recognized which contributed to reduce these encounters: 1. a difference in foraging strategies, males being predominantly territorial and females generalists (behaving as territorial or 'trapliners' according to circumstances) ; 2. differences in the temporal organization of their foraging activity through the day; 3. differences in spatial organization, males and females tending to exploit different parts of the same plant. Thalurania furcata defended its feeding territories against individuals of its own and other species of hummingbirds (Chlorostilbon gibsoni, Coeliqena prunellei and others), flower-piercers (mainly Dlglossa sittoides), and butterflies.</text>
