Os resultados mostraram que a base econômica dos assentamentos pauta-se na pluriatividade, com comercialização de excedentes. Organizam-se em grupos como forma de fortalecimento da produção e comercialização. Recebem assistência técnica dos sindicatos municipais, de órgãos não governamentais e outras instituições. Concluiu-se que apesar da incipiência de infraestrutura e investimentos, que fomentem ações para a melhoria das condições de vida, as famílias assentadas têm conseguido permanecer e sobreviver na terra conquistada, por meio de estratégias de sobrevivência criadas no processo de consolidação dos assentamentos, como é o caso dos grupos ligados a associações, sendo essa forma alternativa para continuar sua vida no campo, encontrando sua função na economia local. ABSTRACT In this article are characterized the settlements located in the southwest region of the State of Mato Grosso, addressing the social, economic and productive aspects of the settlers. The theme chosen presents a particularity, because when we talk about economics in Mato Grosso are covered the land and agribusiness issues. This study aimed at diagnosing the socio-economic and productive activities carried out in the settlements in the southwest region of Mato Grosso, aimed at generating information that will contribute to its strengthening, the access to public policies and the generation of employment and income. The methodological procedures adopted were exploratory research, and secondary data collection. The results showed that the economic base of the settlements is guided on pluriativity, with marketing of surpluses. Organize in groups as a way of strengthening of production and marketing. The online questionnaire included questions on knowledge and preventive practices related to COVID-19, and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 was used to diagnose depressive symptoms. A total of 420 Chinese university students were finally included in the study (171 students from South Korea and 249 students from Mainland China). The majority of these students had a good level of knowledge of COVID-19. Students living in South Korea displayed better preventive practices than those living in Mainland China; however, the proportion of students (28.7%) with moderate-to-severe depression in this group was relatively higher than that (18.9%) of the Mainland Group (χ2 = 5.50, p < 0.05). More severe depression was related to high levels of concern about family members and contracting COVID-19 as well as suspecting themselves of having come into contact with patients. Displaying more preventive behaviors decreased the depressive symptoms in both groups. These data could be used as a reference for further studies in different regions to take measures (e.g., psychological counseling and encouragement for physical activities) to reduce depressive symptoms in university students. In fisheries management, justice has generally been understood in terms of the distribution of social, cultural, and economic benefits. However, there are also important procedural justice challenges in the fisheries system, which are fundamental to the long-term sustainability and equity of the oceans. Procedural justice is related to the conditions under which the negotiation for benefit distribution takes place. That is, the procedures, structures, and processes that lead to the distribution of resources. In this study, we empirically assess fishers’ perceptions of procedural justice components within a small-scale fishery management policy in Chile which has been shifting toward a polycentric type of governance during the past 7 years. We specifically assess perceptions of management committee members. Management committees have been constituted as spaces of collective action for participatory decision-making. We decompose procedural justice in seven subcomponents and assess perceptions associated to achievement in the administration of fisheries. Our results show that management committee members perceive heterogeneity in the achievement of different procedural justice components, which is a central element in achieving equitable development in the oceans. The highest perceptions of achievement were found in the procedures for the selection of participants, the use of various types of technical and local knowledge for decision-making, and the perception by participants of ethical and impartial procedures. We also identified significant challenges related to an inflexible legal structure that hinders adaptive management and learning as a tool for institutional transformation. In addition, mechanisms for communicating decisions to users and clear accountability procedures were perceived as weak. It is critical to address these gaps as they can jeopardize the implementation and legitimacy of fisheries management. Focusing on different components of procedural justice can provide an important lens through which advances and gaps in fisheries policy can be identified and worked upon. Where essential demand cannot be fulfilled online, or where more stringent measures have been relaxed, customers must visit shop premises in person. This naturally gives rise to some risk of susceptible individuals (customers or staff) becoming infected. It is essential to minimize this risk as far as possible while retaining economic viability of the shop. We therefore explore and compare the spread of COVID-19 in different shopping situations involving person-to-person interactions: (i) free-flowing, unstructured shopping; (ii) structured shopping (e.g. a queue). We examine which of (i) or (ii) may be preferable for minimizing the spread of COVID-19 in a given shop, subject to constraints such as the geometry of the shop; compliance of the population to local guidelines; and additional safety measures which may be available to the organizers of the shop. We derive a series of conclusions, such as unidirectional free movement being preferable to bidirectional shopping, and that the number of servers should be maximized as long as they can be well protected from infection.
