                <text>Feline coronaviruses (FCoV) exist as 2 biotypes: feline enteric coronavirus (FECV) and feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV). FECV causes subclinical infections; FIPV causes feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), a systemic and fatal disease. It is thought that mutations in FECV enable infection of macrophages, causing FIP. However, the molecular basis for this biotype switch is unknown. We examined a furin cleavage site in the region between receptor-binding (S1) and fusion (S2) domains of the spike of serotype 1 FCoV. FECV sequences were compared with FIPV sequences. All FECVs had a conserved furin cleavage motif. For FIPV, there was a correlation with the disease and &gt;1 substitution in the S1/S2 motif. Fluorogenic peptide assays confirmed that the substitutions modulate furin cleavage. We document a functionally relevant S1/S2 mutation that arises when FIP develops in a cat. These insights into FIP pathogenesis may be useful in development of diagnostic, prevention, and treatment measures against coronaviruses.</text>

                <text>Background: There is insufficient evidence to support clinical decision-making for cancer patients diagnosed with COVID-19 due to the lack of large studies.Methods: We used data from a single large UK Cancer Center to assess the demographic/clinical characteristics of 156 cancer patients with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis between 29 February and 12 May 2020. Logistic/Cox proportional hazards models were used to identify which demographic and/or clinical characteristics were associated with COVID-19 severity/death.Results: 128 (82%) presented with mild/moderate COVID-19 and 28 (18%) with a severe case of the disease. An initial cancer diagnosis &amp;gt;24 months before COVID-19 [OR: 1.74 (95% CI: 0.71–4.26)], presenting with fever [6.21 (1.76–21.99)], dyspnea [2.60 (1.00–6.76)], gastro-intestinal symptoms [7.38 (2.71–20.16)], or higher levels of C-reactive protein [9.43 (0.73–121.12)] were linked with greater COVID-19 severity. During a median follow-up of 37 days, 34 patients had died of COVID-19 (22%). Being of Asian ethnicity [3.73 (1.28–10.91)], receiving palliative treatment [5.74 (1.15–28.79)], having an initial cancer diagnosis &amp;gt;24 months before [2.14 (1.04–4.44)], dyspnea [4.94 (1.99–12.25)], and increased CRP levels [10.35 (1.05–52.21)] were positively associated with COVID-19 death. An inverse association was observed with increased levels of albumin [0.04 (0.01–0.04)].Conclusions: A longer-established diagnosis of cancer was associated with increased severity of infection as well as COVID-19 death, possibly reflecting the effects a more advanced malignant disease has on this infection. Asian ethnicity and palliative treatment were also associated with COVID-19 death in cancer patients.</text>

Los parámetros del índice DRSTIL son profundidad del agua (D), recarga (R), suelo (S), topografía(T), impacto a la zona vadosa (I) y uso del suelo (L). Cada uno de los parámetros tiene una ponderaciónde 1 a 5 según su importancia. Los parámetros se dividen en clasi�caciones de acuerdo al impacto de contaminacióny tienen una puntuación de 1 a 10. La suma ponderada de los factores establecen los valores para los intervalos declasi�cación de los grados de vulnerabilidad. Los resultados muestran que bajo los efectos del cambio climático, encomparación con el mapa actual de distribución de áreas vulnerables, se favorece el incremento de la vulnerabilidadmoderada, ocupando una mayor extensión y disminución de las super�cies de las áreas de alta vulnerabilidad para todoslos escenarios de cambio climático, debido al cambio del uso del suelo y la reducción de la recarga.</text>

                <text>The world is experiencing an unprecedented global pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by a novel coronavirus, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Development of new vaccines and therapeutics are important to achieve long-term prevention and control of the virus. Experience gained in the development of vaccines for Ebola virus disease provide important lessons in the regulatory, clinical, and manufacturing process that can be applied to SARS-CoV-2 and other epidemic pathogens. This report outlines the main lessons learned by Merck Sharp &amp; Dohme Corp., a subsidiary of Merck &amp; Co., Inc., Kenilworth, NJ, USA (MSD) during development of an Ebola Zaire vaccine (ERVEBO®) and looks ahead to critical lessons beyond vaccine development. It highlights focus areas for public-private partnership and regulatory harmonization that can be directly applied to current vaccine development efforts for SARS-CoV-2, while drawing attention to the need for parallel consideration of issues beyond development that are equally important to achieve global preparedness and response goals.</text>

                <text>En este artículo presentamos una experiencia llevada a cabo durante el período de pandemia por COVID 19 en la cátedra de Análisis Matemático I del Departamento de Ingeniería e Investigaciones Tecnológicas de la Universidad Nacional de La Matanza. Utilizamos el aula invertida como metodología de enseñanza aprendizaje. Elaboramos lo que llamamos tareas por unidad temática. Cada una consiste en una estructura u “hoja de ruta” que indica al alumno acciones para organizar su aprendizaje previo a la clase sincrónica a través del aula virtual. Trabajamos con dos plataformas: una que nos sirvió para almacenar el material de la cátedra y la otra que nos permitió coordinar foros, planificar reuniones sincrónicas, armar espacios de consulta, etc. Mostramos la organización del aula invertida por tareas y el resultado de una encuesta que les hicimos a los alumnos que terminaron el primer cuatrimestre de 2020 con esta modalidad. Los resultados fueron alentadores: los alumnos valoraron muy positivamente los materiales suministrados y la organización por tareas. Reconocemos que los datos obtenidos provinieron de los alumnos que pudieron completar el ciclo lectivo, razón por la cual sumamos el compromiso de estudiar la percepción de     todos los estudiantes que comiencen con la asignatura el próximo cuatrimestre.</text>

Temperature and precipitation were analyzed based on historicalseries from 1981-2015, current series (2016-2019) and projections (2019-2050). ArcGis 10,3soware was used to measure the climatic variability of these parameters. Vulnerability analysisconsidered production under the effect of weather conditions. Results indicate that the averagemulti-year temperature variation is 25,86 °C and the precipitation is 2 202.83 mm, what favoredthe production of 5 225 kg ha -1 of maize, 3 076.8 kg ha -1 rice and 1 147 kg ha -1 of soybeans.According to climate projections for 2016-2050, an increase of 1.07 ° C in the temperaturevariable and decrease in precipitation (303 mm) which will generate a decrease in crop yields in29; 27 and 24 % for corn, rice and soy respectively.</text>

                <text>La presente investigación tiene como propósito Desarrollar un plan de acción en educación ambiental, como alternativa para la convivencia ecológica en los estudiantes de la Escuela Técnica Francisco Tamayo, ubicada en la Parroquia Barinitas, Municipio Bolívar del Estado Barinas. En dicha institución se aprecia que los estudiantes, carecen de una orientación y motivación acerca de un plan de acción para promover la convivencia ecológica. Es una investigación en desarrollo inmersa bajo el enfoque cualitativo, a través del método investigación-acción participante. Su diseño metodológico está estructurado en tres fases: Diagnóstico, programación, conclusiones y propuestas. Los informantes claves estarán representados por tres estudiantes, tres docentes y tres representantes. Las técnicas de recolección de información serán la entrevista en profundidad y la observación de documentos y acciones que muestren construcciones teóricas derivadas de la práctica misma, debido a que se adaptan mejor. Las técnicas de análisis de la información fueron la categorización, triangulación e interpretación. Entre los resultados que se esperan están que los estudiantes se sensibilicen y adquieran conocimientos relacionados con la convivencia ecológica y ambiental; desde un enfoque interdisciplinario, para abordar con responsabilidad los cambios de actitud, que necesita cada comunidad, con la finalidad de desarrollarse social y económicamente.</text>

                <text>El aprovechamiento de halófitas como Salicornia bigelovii representa una alternativa con potencial económico para la agricultura del desierto y zonas costeras. No obstante, el éxito en el establecimiento de parcelas comerciales se ha visto limitado por los bajos porcentajes de germinación de la especie. La propagación por esquejes representa una opción viable y rápida a esta problemática. La formación de raíces funcionales es fundamental en la propagación por esquejes y se ha logrado mediante la aplicación de productos químicos reguladores de crecimiento. La aplicación de quitosano en algunos cultivos ha mostrado ser una alternativa en el proceso de germinación y mejores rendimientos de cosecha; sin embargo, con relación a la halófita S. bigelovii, son nulos los estudios sobre el efecto del quitosano. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue evaluar el efecto del quitosano de origen marino y el ácido indol butírico como agentes promotores de raíces en esquejes de Salicornia bigelovii. Se aplicaron las concentraciones (individual y en conjunto) de quitosano al 100 y 50% y ácido indol butírico a razón de 0.937 y 1.25 g kg-1. Se utilizó un diseño completamente al azar con nueve tratamientos con cinco repeticiones, evaluándose 225 unidades experimentales. Como variables respuesta se midieron: longitud radicular, peso fresco y peso seco total de la raíz, número y longitud de nuevos brotes. Los resultados indican que el tratamiento más eficiente fue 100% de quitosano + 0.937 g kg-1 de ácido indol butírico, el cual promovió la producción de brotes fotosintéticos hasta en un 800%. Estos resultados demuestran que es factible lograr la propagación de Salicornia mediante esquejes utilizando quitosano de origen marino como promotor de crecimiento.</text>

                <text>Avaliar o efeito da implementação do artigo 14 da Lei Federal 11.947/09 na qualidade nutricional dos cardápios do Programa Nacional de Alimentação Escolar. Trata-se de estudo transversal, com base na tríade de avaliação Estrutura – Processo – Resultado e elaboração de matriz avaliativa, conduzido no ano de 2013. Trinta e oito municípios do estado de São Paulo foram divididos em dois grupos: os que adquirem gêneros da agricultura familiar e os que não adquirem. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio dos cardápios escolares e de um questionário estruturado com nutricionistas. Os alimentos dos cardápios foram analisados segundo critérios da Nova e a qualidade nutricional foi avaliada conforme os parâmetros da legislação vigente. Foram utilizadas estatística descritiva e teste exato de Fischer para análise de associação. Vinte e cinco municípios adquiriam alimentos da agricultura familiar e 18 não implementaram as compras. Os municípios que compraram alimentos dos agricultores familiares tiveram maior prevalência de cozinheiros escolares em número suficiente e realizaram ações de apoio com os agricultores familiares da região (p &gt;0,05). A maioria das cidades atenderam a legislação vigente quanto a oferta mínima de frutas ou hortaliças e máxima de doces, embora a participação média de alimentos ultraprocessados seja elevada em ambos os grupos. O marco legal apresenta lacunas quanto a definição dos alimentos que devem compor os cardápios escolares, sendo permissivo quanto ao uso de alimentos de maior nível de processamento. As fragilidades da legislação para a aquisição de alimentos da agricultura familiar devem ser exploradas para promover cardápios escolares de melhor qualidade nutricional.</text>
