En este texto se presenta el epílogo de Extremadura Saqueada (Ruedo Ibérico, 1978), en el cuarenta aniversario de su publicación. En esta presentación, el propio autor, José Manuel Naredo, recuerda el proceso de gestación del libro, sus contenidos principales y reflexiona sobre la evolución del negocio del sector eléctrico en la construcción de grandes infraestructuras, una tendencia que se apuntaba entonces y continua vigente. Naredo, junto al amplio equipo que elaboró Extremadura Saqueada, nos presentan y analizan una historia de extractivismo desde una perspectiva de dominación multidimensional, en el que las variables económicas, ecológicas y sociales confluyen. Un estudio pionero metodológicamente que aún hoy resulta básico para comprender las dinámicas de fractura social en España.

Este ensayo tiene como objetivo analizar el papel de los recursos naturales en la prolongación del conflicto en Darfur. El ensayo sigue las tesis de las nuevas guerras y la teoría de los conflictos. En cuanto a la estructura, en primer lugar, se aborda el concepto de crisis prolongada; en segundo lugar, se presenta de manera breve el contexto histórico y social de Darfur con especial atención al cambio climático y los recursos naturales; en tercer lugar, la tierra y el agua son analizados como variables clave para comprender el desarrollo del conflicto y, por último, se aborda la consecuencia más trágica: los desplazados y refugiados. Se trata de un análisis que se adentra en las explicaciones del conflicto con especial énfasis en la escasez de recursos. Sin embargo, este planteamiento no debe entenderse como el único posible, sino como una parte más para comprender la compleja situación de Darfur.

Um estudo foi realizado sobre mosquitos adultos de abril 1995 a março 1996 na Mata Atlântica do município de Morretes, Paraná, Brasil. A investigação foi procedida com auxílio de duas armadilhas luminosas CDC-M instaladas em estratos verticais diferentes. Os mosquitos foram capturados mensalmente durante um ano, com início às 18 horas e término às 6 horas do dia seguinte, totalizando 144 horas de trabalho de campo. Obteve-se 1.408 exemplares de mosquitos (409 na copa e 999 próximo ao solo), pertencentes a 10 gêneros e 31 espécies. Anopheles cruzii e Culex ribeirensis foram predominantes e são objetos do presente estudo. Não foi observada diferença entre as armadilhas para Anopheles cruzii. Mas Culex ribeirensis foi coletado em maior número pela CDC-M/solo. Anopheles cruzii, quanto à freqüência horária, apresentou picos nas primeiras horas da noite, depois a sua atividade decresceu progressivamente até o crepúsculo matutino, sem apresentar um pico secundário. Em referência a distribuição mensal, Anopheles cruzii foi mais freqüente nos meses de abril e maio de 1995 e março de 1996. Não houve correlação do número de exemplares com a temperatura ou precipitações pluviométricas. Culex ribeirensis apresentou maior atividade de vôo de 22h às 4h, mas não houve picos significativos. Nas coletas obtidas por mês, Culex ribeirensis teve picos em dezembro e janeiro. Houve correlação do número de espécimes deste culicíneo com a temperatura e precipitações pluviométricas. Constituem os primeiros registros para o Estado do Paraná: Ochlerotatus rhyacophilus, Culex misionensis, Culex pedroi, Culex ribeirensis e Culex zeteki.A study of adult mosquitoes was performed from April 1995 to March 1996 in the Atlantic Forest near to Morretes city, Paraná, Brazil. The research was carried out by using two CDC-M light traps installed in different vertical stratification levels. Mosquitoes were collected monthly throughout the year from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., with total work hours of 144. A number of 1,408 specimens of mosquitoes was obtained (409 at canopy level and 999 near the ground), belonging to 10 genera and 31 species. Anopheles cruzii and Culex ribeirensis were predominant and are the main subjects of the present study. Difference was not observed between the traps for Anopheles cruzii. However, the higher number of Culex ribeirensis was collected in CDC-M/ground. According to time intervals, Anopheles cruzii showed peaks in the early hours of the night, and decreased progressively until dawn, without a secondary peak. As for the monthly distribution, Anopheles cruzii was more frequent in April and May 1995 and March 1996. Correlations between specimens and temperature or rainfall were not significant. The flight activity of Culex ribeirensis was more intense from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m., but significant peaks were not observed. The monthly distribution of Culex ribeirensis showed peaks in December and January. Significant correlation of this culicine was found for temperature and rainfall. First records for Paraná State: Ochlerotatus rhyacophilus, Culex misionensis, Culex pedroi, Culex ribeirensis and Culex zeteki.

O presente estudo objetivou desenvolver uma análise comparativa entre o documento proposto para regulamentar a publicidade de alimentos não saudáveis e de bebidas de baixo valor nutricional, levado à consulta pública em 2006, e a Resolução aprovada em 2010. A análise se pautou em dados provenientes de documentos legais referentes à regulamentação da propaganda de alimentos, na identificação dos atores-chave e dos argumentos que fundamentaram seus discursos. Verificou-se que a Resolução aprovada se apresenta menos detalhada e rigorosa sob o ponto de vista regulatório. Foram retiradas proibições e exigências sobre o formato, o conteúdo e os temas das propagandas de alimentos, em especial as voltadas ao público infantil. Faz-se necessário fortalecer a discussão sobre o que é a esfera pública, como ela se constrói, o que são interesses públicos e quais mecanismos e processos podem contribuir para garanti-los.

Hoy más que nunca urge un sistema económico más amigable con el ambiente, menos depredador y consciente del bienestar de los habitantes de este planeta, por ello el propósito de este artículo es explorar en la literatura la perspectiva conceptual de la economía circular, su aporte estratégico al desarrollo sostenible, su implantación y consecuencias, así como también las opiniones contrarias. Tema de progresivo interés y tendencia mundial, que ha generado un notable movimiento, a nivel de gobiernos, fundaciones, industria y sociedad, respecto a reconsiderar la gestión de los recursos a través de todo el ciclo de vida de un producto/servicio que conlleve a lograr prosperidad, atenuando el impacto en el medioambiente y posibilitando el bienestar de los seres humanos y demás especies. La metodología de investigación es de tipo cualitativa, y a través de un método exploratorio descriptivo se reseñan los hallazgos. Se concluye que en las estrategias de desarrollo sostenible, tanto el gobierno como las organizaciones ecuatorianas deberían considerar la implementación de proyectos de economía circular y definir acciones a tomar desde la esfera pública para fomentar la transición hacia esta nueva concepción económica. Una limitación de este estudio es la escasa evidencia empírica local sobre el tema, por lo que se ha recurrido a literatura y experiencias internacionales.

El presente trabajo se desarrolló en la Universidad de Pinar del Río, durante los meses de enero a marzo del 2018, con el objetivo de determinar el efecto de productos bioestimulantes sobre la germinación y crecimiento de plántulas de Vigna sesquipedalis (habichuela). Se estableció un experimento para determinar la velocidad de germinación en el cual se empleó una concentración del 2 %, de los bioestimulantes Aloe vera, Bayfolan®, FitoMas-E®, Leucaena leucocephala y Microorganismos eficientes. Para evaluar el efecto de productos bioestimulantes sobre el crecimiento se sembraron en macetas las semillas embebidas en los bioestimulantes a una concentración del 2 %. Se evaluaron los parámetros morfológicos, diámetro del tallo, longitud de la radícula y del hipocótilo, masa seca total. Los resultados evidenciaron que el mejor tratamiento en la germinación fue la solución con microorganismos eficientes y en el crecimiento de las plántulas en maceta la dilución de extracto de L. leucocephala en agua.

El aumento de requerimientos de bienes y servicios, la degradación de los ecosistemas y el cambio climático conminan a la comunidad científica a buscar alternativas eficientes en el uso y manejo de los recursos forestales maderables y no maderables, así como de otras plantas perennes como los frutales. Por ello, invertir en el progreso de los sistemas agroforestales y el desarrollo de la agroecología es una actividad indispensable. A diferencia de las plantas anuales, en las que las principales técnicas de fitomejoramiento implican hibridación y retrocruzas, en las especies de ciclo de vida largo se deben emplear otros métodos cuya finalidad sea aumentar y mejorar las cualidades útiles para la sociedad. De esta forma se podrán maximizar los beneficios que se obtienen de estas especies y minimizar el impacto ecológico y ambiental. México es un país que por tradición ha dado mayor importancia a la agricultura sobre la forestación y la silvicultura, actividades que hoy día son muy importantes para mitigar los efectos de cambio climático y la conservación de los ecosistemas; sin embargo, instituciones como el Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias (INIFAP) han realizado esfuerzos que buscan contribuir al desarrollo del campo mexicano a través del mejoramiento genético de plantas perennes. El presente texto busca resaltar algunos puntos importantes en cuanto a la historia, las técnicas y algunas experiencias del INIFAP relacionadas a este tema, tan relevante para el bienestar de las sociedades rurales y la conservación de la biodiversidad.

Se presenta una síntesis del conocimiento generado en el Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias (INIFAP) sobre sostenibilidad de los recursos naturales, a partir de una investigación documental en las bases de datos Scopus (1972-2020), Web of Science (WoS), en la sub base SciELO Citation Index (2002-2020) y la Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Forestales (RMCF) (1985-2009). Se utilizaron 10 palabras clave, y el análisis se hizo con los programas Bibliometrix, VOSviewer e IBM-SPSS 23.0 para la integración de redes de colaboración e identificación de coautorías. Destaca que las publicaciones de los investigadores forestales son escasas en las bases consultadas y la mayoría data del presente siglo; se recuperaron, inicialmente, 3 653 documentos en Scopus, y en una segunda instancia 210; en WoS, 1 447; y en RMCF, 28. Lo anterior coincide con el despunte del interés global por el cambio climático, su impacto en los ecosistemas y la biodiversidad; así como la importancia de los servicios ecosistémicos y el manejo forestal sustentable. Otro aspecto relevante es el manejo del agua en los agroecosistemas y el manejo integrado de cuencas. Se identificaron cinco redes de colaboración en Scopus, 15 en WoS y cuatro en la RMCF. El INIFAP tiene un capital humano con experiencia y conocimientos en los tres sectores que lo integran; así como de especialistas en socioeconomía, que constituyen una fortaleza para la conformación de colaboraciones multisectoriales para la realización de proyectos de gran visión sobre el desarrollo sostenible de los recursos naturales.

El estado de Veracruz tiene una superficie de 71' 227 km². Cuenta con una zona potencialmente apta para el cultivo del guanábano de 18' 440 ha, (0.21%), una zona medianamente propicia de 3' 645 324 ha (51.30%) y una zona no apropiada de 3' 458 862 ha, (48.44%). Existen 20 municipios productores de guanábano en el estado de Veracruz. Actualmente la demanda por este producto ha permitido su incremento en superficie estimándose en 800 ha, en estos últimos años. Con un rendimiento aproximado de 5.0 ton/ha, por debajo de la media nacional que es de 6.5 ton/ha, esto refleja la poco tecnología empleada en el manejo del cultivo. Lamentablemente el desarrollo de este frutal en Veracruz se ha realizado de una manera desordenada. Todo ello, sin ninguna planeación y sin un estudio sobre un ordenamiento agroecológico a fin de detectar áreas potencialmente aptas para este cultivo. A pesar de toda esta complejidad se ha llegado a considerar como un frutal digno de atención por las posibilidades agroindustriales que representa. En general son tres los principales puntos prioritarios a tomar en cuenta para esta estrategia de desarrollo: Primero las características genéticas del material de propagación. Segundo las condiciones de sanidad de las plantas, principal factor que podría ser limitativo para el desarrollo del guanábano. Tercero la tecnología de producción. Existe desconocimiento en la lámina e intervalo riego, época; dosis y fuente de fertilización; época y tipo de poda. Existe una gran fortaleza en su aprovechamiento integral de este frutal: comercial, industrial, medicinal, farmacéutico, fitotóxico, alimenticio, entre otras propiedades.
