Os participantes foram os pais de estudantes matriculados no ensino médio e técnico da Escola Familiar Rural Santo Agostinho no município de Quilombo (SC). A análise dos dados foi por meio da aplicação de estatística descritiva. Todos os respondentes informaram que produzem alimentos para o autoconsumo e para comercialização. Relataram que trabalhar com agrotóxicos é perigoso, porém, 85% deles os utilizam na produção. Ao todo 79% afirmaram usar Equipamento de Proteção Individual parcialmente. A aplicação é realizada de forma manual e mecanizada, com duração de duas a quatro horas por dia, de três a oito vezes por mês, pelo menos há mais de dez anos. Os agricultores relataram que enviam as embalagens de volta para os pontos de venda ou para os centros de recolhimento. Também reutilizam, incineram ou descartam ao ar livre. Os participantes apontaram sintomas como dor de cabeça, tosse, náuseas, câimbra, irritação nos olhos, boca e garganta após aplicação dos agrotóxicos. Foi observada uma preocupação com a proteção da saúde e com o meio ambiente quanto à aplicação de agrotóxicos. Em reuniões com as mulheres do assentamento, por experiência de algumas decidimos montar uma farinheira. Fizemos um curso com uma conhecida e aprendemos a fazer farinha biju. Quando tínhamos encomendas de farinha biju e farinha normal torrada dos moradores do assentamento e de clientes de outras localidades, nos reuníamos para fazer. Em 2012, a renda líquida foi de R$1.000,00(mil reais), sendo acordado entre os membros da farinheira, fazer a divisão em partes iguais. Fazer farinha biju tem compensado, pois é um produto muito apreciado, mas por não termos CNPJ encontramos dificuldade em participar de projetos e até mesmo conseguir mais recursos para ampliar os negócios. Atualmente, a farinheira completa 7 anos de existência e ainda encontra-se em pleno funcionamento, fazendo farinha biju e farinha torrada para o próprio consumo e para encomendas da região. Cereal foods are an important source of nutrition in the diet of infants and children, and are among the first solid foods eaten. Infants have a more limited diet and consume a higher proportion of their body weight than adults. Cadmium is a toxic metal that occurs naturally in soil, spreading in human and other animal food chain. Due to cadmium content of fertilisers used in conventional farming, there has been a crescent interest in organic products, thought as less harmful to environment and healthier. We used logistic regression models to assess which socioeconomic factors were associated with intended COVID-19 presenteeism among an online study population working outside their home in March 2020 (N = 220). Overall, 34.5% of participants reported intended COVID-19 presenteeism. Younger individuals and individuals making over $90,000 per year were less likely to report COVID-19 presenteeism. Individuals who were worried about having enough food had 3-fold higher odds of intended COVID-19 presenteeism. Current policies around food access, paid sick leave, and other workplace protections need to be expanded and made more accessible to reduce health disparities as well as the transmission of COVID-19 and other infections. White Description An account of the resource The basic reproductive number (R₀) and the distribution of the serial interval (SI) are often used to quantify transmission during an infectious disease outbreak. In this paper, we present estimates of R₀ and SI from the 2003 SARS outbreak in Hong Kong and Singapore, and the 2009 pandemic influenza A(H1N1) outbreak in South Africa using methods that expand upon an existing Bayesian framework. This expanded framework allows for the incorporation of additional information, such as contact tracing or household data, through prior distributions. The results for the R₀ and the SI from the influenza outbreak in South Africa were similar regardless of the prior information (R0 = 1.36-1.46, μ = 2.0-2.7, μ = mean of the SI). The estimates of R₀ and μ for the SARS outbreak ranged from 2.0-4.4 and 7.4-11.3, respectively, and were shown to vary depending on the use of contact tracing data. The impact of the contact tracing data was likely due to the small number of SARS cases relative to the size of the contact tracing sample.
