Los depredadores juegan un importante papel en la dinámica ecosistémica a raíz de los efectos que producen en la abundancia y diversidad de presas y, en última instancia, en las funciones del ecosistema. Para comprender la ecología del comportamiento depredador de los distintos grupos animales, así como su impacto en las comunidades de presas, es imprescindible conocer la composición de especies presa. El propósito de este estudio ha sido determinar la composición de la dieta de un artrópodo depredador, la viuda negra mediterránea Latrodectus tredecimguttatus (Rossi, 1790) en la península ibérica. Encontramos que L. tredecimguttatus puede considerarse un depredador generalista estenófago, que se alimenta de nueve órdenes distintos de artrópodos (Araneae, Coleoptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Julida, Mantodea, Orthoptera, Scorpiones y Solifugae). Los himenópteros (en su mayoría hormigas) fueron las presas más comunes (58.9% del total) y los coleópteros (en su mayoría Tenebrionidae) fueron los segundos más comunes (33.5% del total). Además, hemos encontrado evidencias de depredación intra-gremio en esta especie. Con este trabajo, se contribuye al conocimiento de la ecología de L. tredecimguttatus en la península ibérica, destacando su papel como depredador de diversos artrópodos, donde se incluyen arañas y otros depredadores.

The distribution of Concholepas concholepas (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Muricidae) is limited to the coasts of Chile and southern Peru. Almost all studies of this gastropod have been carried out in open coastal systems, rather than the fjords and channels of southern Chile, despite the fact that this area represents ca. 95 % of the total coastline in this country. Although there is a large volume of background literature on C. concholepas, almost nothing is published about early larval development under natural conditions, mostly because early veligers have rarely been found in nature. This study is the first attempt to determine the spatial and temporal abundance and size patterns of C. concholepas larvae in their natural environment throughout all of their developmental stages until they settle. Weekly plankton samples were obtained at the surface and at 8 m depth in four locations in southern Chile in combination with temperature and salinity records in each location. Settlement was quantified using artificial substrates in all locations. We have observed that C. concholepas larval development occurs throughout the entire year in Chilean inland seas, with early veliger larvae being released mostly from August to March, reaching the competent stage around June to August, and settling between July and August. Thus, larvae appear to have a long planktonic development that can last between 6 and 12 months. Differences in local hydrology could affect larval development of C. concholepas in this region. Further oceanographic and ecological investigation is necessary in order to answer the questions and hypotheses originated from this studyConcholepas concholepas (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Muricidae) se distribuye entre las costas del sur de Perú y extremo sur de Chile. Prácticamente todos los estudios sobre este gastrópodo han sido realizados en costas expuestas, sin considerar los fiordos y canales del sur de Chile, a pesar de que estos representan aproximadamente el 95 % de la línea costera de este país. Aunque se ha publicado un importante volumen de literatura sobre C. concholepas, existen escasos antecedentes acerca de su desarrollo larval temprano en condiciones naturales, principalmente debido a que estos estadios han sido escasamente recolectados en la naturaleza. Este estudio es el primer intento por determinar los patrones de abundancia espacial y temporal de larvas de C. concholepas a través de su desarrollo hasta el asentamiento, en su ambiente natural. Para ello, fueron recolectadas muestras de plancton semanalmente en superficie y 8 m de profundidad en cuatro canales del sur de Chile. Temperatura y salinidad fueron registradas simultáneamente en cada sector. El asentamiento fue cuantificado usando un sustrato artificial en los cuatro sectores. En este estudio se observó que el desarrollo larval de C. concholepas ocurre durante todo el año en las aguas interiores del sur de Chile, observándose estados tempranos principalmente entre agosto y marzo, estados competentes entre junio y agosto, y asentamiento entre julio y agosto. Así, C. concholepas parece tener un largo periodo de desarrollo larval cuya duración fue estimada entre 6 a 12 meses en este estudio. Finalmente se sugiere que la hidrología local puede afectar el desarrollo larval de C. concholepas en esta región. Nuevas investigaciones oceanográficas y ecológicas son necesarias para responder las interrogantes e hipótesis surgidas de este estudio

Este artículo examina la información que se ha producido en revistas arbitradas sobre las aves de las ciudades colombianas, complementando un artículo de revisión Latinoamericano publicado recientemente. Esta revisión identifica un total de 55 artículos en doce ciudades colombianas, lo cual excede en 50 el número de estudios previamente considerado. Los Listados de Especies y los Estudios Ecológicos son los estudios más frecuentes. La ciudad donde más trabajos se han realizado es Medellín (26), seguid por Bogotá (nueve), Cali y Popayán (ambas con cuatro trabajos). Aunque nuestra revisión registra un número mayor de publicaciones de lo que se asumía previamente, concluimos que la ornitología urbana colombiana es todavía una área joven, en tiempo, número, calidad, impacto y profundidad de las investigaciones publicadas hasta el momento. Con el objetivo de caracterizar el establecimiento del policultivo de guayabo var. enana roja cubana y Teramnus labialis, se realizóun estudio, durante siete meses, en 1,66 ha. Se monitorearon todas las inversiones en el área, así como las labores fitotécnicas y los costos del sistema, lo cual permitió apreciar que: a) las labores fitotécnicas realizadas al guayabo fueron similares a las del frutal en el sistema tradicional, y al establecimiento de la leguminosa se le dedicó el 12 % del tiempo total de trabajo; b) es imprescindible que haya disponibilidad de agua en toda el área, así como 0,008 ha de banco de semilla de la leguminosa para garantizar la siembra en cada hectárea diversificada; c) el mayor tiempo de trabajo se dedica al riego, que se puede combinar con el control manual de arvenses y la poda de formación del frutal; d) el costo de la hectárea diversificada fue aproximadamente 26 000 CUP, de los cuales el 70 % se relacionó con la adquisición de las posturas de guayabo y el sistema de riego, mientras que el 28 %, con gastos de salario y combustible. Se concluye que el sistema de policultivo de guayabo leguminosa de cobertura difirió poco en la fitotecnia y en los costos del sistema tradicional que se emplea actualmente para cultivar el guayabo en Cuba.

El objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar el posible desplazamiento de Crataegus mexicana DC. de las actuales zonas de adaptación, por efecto del cambio climático. Se hicieron dos modelos de zonas adecuadas de adaptación con los datos climáticos actuales y los del modelo CCM3, que predice el posible cambio climático al 2050. La modelación con los datos climáticos actuales muestra condiciones de adaptación que van de buenas a excelentes en las zonas de cultivo en el centro de México, así como condiciones similares para zonas del Eje Volcánico Transmexicano, Altiplano Mexicano, Sierra Madre Oriental y Sierra Madre del Sur. También presentó zonas con adaptación limitada en el noreste, noroeste y sur del país. En contraste, con el modelo CCM3 se mejoran las condiciones de muy buenas a excelentes, del Eje Volcánico Transmexicano incluyendo las actuales zonas de cultivo y en otras regiones del país. Por lo tanto, el tejocote se verá afectado de manera positiva por el cambio de la temperatura y la lluvia hacia el 2050, lo que podría ocasionar que se incremente su superficie cultivada.

The microvinification of nine Eurasian wild grapevine populations situated in different habitats in La Rioja (Spain) and the Basque Country (Spain, France) were carried out. Populations were observed at flowering time in order to assess the presence of male and female vines. Both harvests took place during the last week of October and the first week of November in 2015 and 2016. Bunches were destalked by hand selecting only ripe grapes, pressed and the amount of must in each sample was weighed. The mixture of must with seedsand skins were fermented at 20ºC with native yeasts without the addition of Potassium metabisulphite. The principal objective was to determine the main oenological characteristics of these wild wines. Due to the small size of the grapes and the fact that their seeds (1 or 2) are quite bulky, the volume of must obtained is very low in each microvinification (15.3 and 16.7 % in weight). In 2015, they showed higher values of alcoholic concentration, lower total acidity and higher pH than with the wines of the year 2016 because berries were more mature and healthier. On the other hand, the ethanol concentration lies between 6.5 and 9%. In both years, the total acidity values are high due to the elevated content of tartaric acid, situated between 5.3 and 7.2 g/l. The color intensity of wines presents high values, between 15 and 23. This is closely related to the high content of anthocyanins, between 470 and 531 mg/l and the high total polyphenols index, within the interval (65.8, 107). Inall the samples both kinds of values are considered appropriate for young red wines. These wild wines may suggest that the wild grapevine is a very interesting phytogenetic resource. It might improve the acidity and color intensity of wines by crossing with red cultivars, a very important characteristics in the present context of climatic change, mainly in warming regions, such as the Mediterranean vineyards. ____________________________________________Se ha realizado la microvinificación de nueve poblaciones de vid silvestre euroasiáticas situadas en diferentes hábitats de La Rioja (España) y el País Vasco (España, Francia). Las poblaciones se observaron previamente en el momento de la floración para evaluar la presencia de ejemplares masculinos y femeninos. Ambas vendimias tuvieron lugar durante la última semana de octubre y la primera de noviembre de 2015 y 2016. Los racimos se despalillaron a mano seleccionando solo bayas maduras, se prensaron y se pesó la cantidad de mosto de cada muestra. La mezcla de mosto con semillas y pieles se fermentó a 20ºCcon levaduras nativas sin adición de metabisulfito potásico. El objetivo principal era conocer las principales características enológicas de estos vinos de vid silvestre. Debido al pequeño tamaño de las bayas y al hecho de que las semillas (1 o 2) son bastante voluminosas, el volumen de mosto obtenido es muy bajo en cada microvinificación (15,3 y 16,7% en peso). En 2015, mostraron valores más altos de concentraciónalcohólica, menor acidez total y mayor pH que en los vinos del año 2016, porque las bayas eran más maduras y saludables. Por otro lado, la concentración de etanol se sitúa entre 6,5 y 9%. En ambos años, los valores de acidez total son altos debido al alto contenido de ácido tartárico, situado entre 5,3 y 7,2 g / l. La intensidad del color de los vinos presenta valores altos, entre 15 y 23. Esto está estrechamente relacionado con el contenido elevado de antocianinas, entre 470 y 531 mg / l y el elevado índice de polifenoles totales, situado dentro del intervalo (65.8-107). En todas las muestras, ambos tipos de valores se consideran apropiados para vinos tintos jóvenes. Estos vinos pueden sugerir que la vid silvestre es un recurso fitogenético muy interesante. Podrían cruzarse con variedades tintas de cultivo, con el fin de aumentar la acidez y la intensidad del color de los vinos. Estos son parámetros muy importantes en el marco actual de cambio climático, principalmente en regiones cálidas, como los viñedos mediterráneos.

Después de describir brevemente las teorías de la comunicación de masas, el artículo se focaliza en la emergencia de dos nuevas formas de comprender los medios en la década de 1960: la semiología y la ecología de los medios. Si bien se presentan a primera vista como enfoques antagónicos, puesto que mientras que la semiología se centraba en el contenido ideológico de los mensajes, la ecología de los medios despreciaba el contenido para reivindicar la importancia del medio, el artículo pretende crear un diálogo entre dos de los máximos representantes de ambas teorías: el francés Roland Barthes y el canadiense Marshall McLuhan. La hipótesis del artículo es que el desarrollo de una semiótica (aplicada) de las interfaces, inspirada en los planteamientos de Umberto Eco, permitiría encontrar un punto de encuentro entre ambas tradiciones teóricas y, desde ahí, desplegar un análisis más completo de las actuales transformaciones que se están produciendo en la ecología de los medios.

Phosphorus is an essential nutrient for coffee growing, however, in Colombia most of the soils have low concentrations of this element. A strategy to supply the demand is the use of phosphate solubilizing microorganisms (PSM), in that order, 26 rhizospheric bacteria of Typic melanudans soil of Cajibío (Cauca, Colombia) were isolated, in three agroecosystems: coffee at full sun exposure, coffee with shade and relic secondary forest, evaluating the phosphate solubilizing efficiency (PSE) for Ca-P, Al-P, Fe-P in the solid and liquid Pikovskaya media. It showed the following solubilization sequence: Ca-P> Al-P> Fe-P. Two isolated bacteria were identified by DNA extraction and analysis of the 16S rRNA gene as Kocuria sp, and Bacillus subtilis. Later, using HPLC were identified organic acids present in the three phosphorus sources as: citric, gluconic, D- and L-malic, D- and L-lactic acid with higher presence in Ca-P-Kocuria sp. Strong acidification was observed for Fe-P and Al-P in all conditions.

El objetivo del presente trabajo fue evaluar el efecto de bacterias solubilizadoras de fosfatos (BSF), Kocuria sp. y Bacillus subtilis, sobre el desarrollo de plántulas de café variedad Castillo. El experimento se realizó en condiciones de invernadero en Palmira, Colombia durante los años 2013-2014. El diseño experimental fue completamente al azar, con nueve tratamientos y diez repeticiones. Los tratamientos se establecieron bajo tres tipos de sustratos para las plántulas: suelo natural (Typic Melanudand) + pulpa de café descompuesta (1:1) en presencia o ausencia de BSF (tratamientos 1-4), suelo natural + pulpa de café descompuesta (1:1) + roca fosfórica (RF) con o sin los microorganismos (tratamientos 5-8), y suelo natural sin BSF sometido a fertilización con fosfato diamónico (DAP) (tratamiento 9). La aplicación de pulpa de café descompuesta con y sin RF, y de las BSF favoreció la disponibilidad de fósforo, que mejoró el desarrollo de las plántulas de café, lo anterior se reflejó en los análisis químicos del sustrato y en las variables de respuesta: peso seco aéreo, peso seco de raíz y peso seco total. La longitud y volumen de raíz, P foliar y la e ciencia de recuperación de fósforo y eficiencia de recuperación de fósforo (ERF), no presentaron diferencias significativas.
