The Effective Reproduction Number (Rt) represents the number of secondary infections generated per each case and can be dramatically modified by applying effective interventions. However, current methodologies to calculate Rt from data remain somewhat cumbersome, thus raising a barrier between its timely calculation and application by policymakers. In this work, we provide a simple mathematical formulation for obtaining the effective reproduction number in real-time using only and directly daily official case reports, obtained by modifying the equations describing the viral spread. We numerically explore the accuracy and limitations of the proposed methodology, which was demonstrated to provide accurate, timely, and intuitive results. We illustrate the use of our methodology to study the evolution of the pandemic in different iconic countries, and to assess the efficacy and promptness of different public health interventions. The spectrum of interstitiopathies is broad and includes idiopathic diseases and secondary forms. In April 2020, a 36-year-old man admitted to our department for arthralgias, fever, asthenia, cough, and dyspnea. In January 2020 fever, cough, arthralgias and asthenia appeared. In April, his general condition worsened with development of macrohematuria, malaise, and intense asthenia. On admission, the patient presented pale, asthenic and symptomatic for dyspnea and arthralgias. There was objective joint pain in the small joints of the hands, elbow, and knees with morning stiffness and decreased strength. CT of the chest documented ground-glass opacities in both lung fields. He performed 2 swabs for SARS-CoV2, which were negative. On hematochemical examination: IgM 332 mg/dL and ferritin 700.2 ng/ml. At venous blood smear peripheral venous blood, agglutination of erythrocytes. The serology (IgM) for M. Pneumoniae was positive with agglutinins in the serum; Doxaciclina was started. There was a progressive normalization of hemoglobin levels and cold agglutinins were gradually reduced and were no longer detected at 15 days after the start of treatment. At one month after discharge, pulmonary function had fully recovered and the picture of hemolytic anemia was resolved. This article describes one faculty member’s experiences using a flipped classroom approach in a virtual teaching environment. The arrival of COVID-19 fractured the school year and put some students’ graduation in jeopardy. From a hasty search of literature on the process of teaching and evaluating in an online environment, to a selection of hardware and software to provide students with an optimal learning environment while ensuring the security and validity of online evaluation, this article will highlight some of the successes and pitfalls of a rapid transition to online instruction and evaluation. Se adquirieron 75 especímenes (34 machos y 41 hembras) de H. peruanus procedentes del Puerto Cabo Blanco, Piura, Perú. Se registraron los datos de longitud total y el sexo de los peces. Para el análisis de la comunidad parasitaria, fueron calculados los índices ecológicos parasitológicos, índices de agregación, índices de diversidad alfa y asociación entre los parámetros biométricos de los peces y los índices parasitológicos. Resultados. El porcentaje de prevalencia total en las doncellas infectadas con al menos una especie metazoaria parásita fue del 65,33%, es decir 49 hospederos parasitados. El componente comunitario de la fauna de eumetazoos parasitaria en los peces evaluados estuvo dominada por la presencia de ectoparásitos (3 especies de monogeneos y 1 especie de isópodo) frente a la poca abundancia de especies endoparásitos (2 especies de trematodos, 1 especies céstoda y 1 especie de acantocéfalo). Probablemente la falta de asociación se deba a la influencia de otros factores bióticos o abióticos. Los parásitos más prevalentes presentaron una distribución del tipo agregada. El estimador de Chao-1 estima que la riqueza esperada fue de ocho. Los factores bióticos como la longitud y el sexo de los peces no se encontraron relacionados con los índices parasitológicos de ninguna especie parásita. Conclusiones. Registramos a H. peruanus como nuevo hospedero para para Ceratothoa gaudichaudii, Corynosoma australe, Parancylodiscoides signifer, Pronotogrammella scholzi y Scolex pleuronectis.
