En 2016 implementamos un sistema de seminarios de enseñanza, en formato de videos libres y accesibles desde internet, con la finalidad de dar a conocer de forma sencilla y en castellano, las bases conceptuales y aplicaciones de los modelos de nicho ecológico en estudios de ecología, conservación biológica, epidemiología y agrobiodviersidad, así como su implementación para el diseño de políticas públicas de los recursos naturales. Cada seminario fue desarrollado por uno o varios expertos discutiendo conceptos, métodos y diferentes herramientas disponibles para elaborar modelos de distribución de especies. Este manuscrito reúne los resúmenes de cada uno de los seminarios en línea, dando referencias clave para cada tema y el enlace al video correspondiente. Los videos están disponibles de forma libre en YouTube o en formato .mp4 bajo solicitud.

El género Quercus reúne algunas de las especies arbóreas más relevantes en los bosques del hemisferio norte, tanto por su amplia distribución geográfica como por su gran importancia ecológica y económica. Algunas de estas especies han sido y continúan siendo foco central en numerosos estudios científicos relacionados con la ecología y gestión de ecosistemas forestales. Los objetivos de este artículo son: 1) conocer la evolución del número de artículos relacionados con Quercus, así como los países y autores con mayor producción científica en este campo, 2) identificar los principales temas de investigación sobre las especies de Quercus de España y 3) discutir los huecos en el conocimiento y proponer algunas líneas futuras de investigación. Según la base de datos ISI Web of Science se han publicado 13 469 artículos relacionados con las especies de Quercus, con un crecimiento exponencial a lo largo del tiempo. España ocupa el segundo lugar en cuanto a número de artículos publicados (11.6 % del total), después de los Estados Unidos. Entre los 24 090 autores de artículos relacionados con Quercus, cinco españoles se encuentran entre los 20primeros en número de publicaciones. Dentro de las publicaciones sobre Quercus en España, la especie con mayor interés es la encina (Q. ilex,46.5 % de los artículos) y los temas a los que se ha prestado más atención son: el cambio climático, la regeneración, los efectos de la sequía, las perturbaciones y la riqueza de especies. Se discuten los huecos de conocimiento detectados (en base a encuestas de expertos) y se proponen líneas de investigación futuras relacionadas con el cambio global, la demografía, la eco fisiología, las interacciones bióticas y la gestión.

A avaliação integrada da exposição a agentes químicos à s condicionantes sociais, econômicas e ambientais possibilita ações efetivas e incorporadas ao espaço social, como pressupõe a metodologia de “Avaliação de Saúde Pública” da Agência de Registro de Substâncias Tóxicas e Controle de Doenças (ATSDR) e à semelhança da abordagem Ecosaúde. Assim, nosso objetivo é descrever uma experiência de avaliação de saúde pública em comunidades de agricultores familiares expostos a agroquímicos em São José de Ubá, estado do Rio de Janeiro (RJ). A sociedade civil e a esfera pública foram envolvidas no processo que reuniu informações históricas, socioeconômicas, culturais, ambientais e de saúde. A exposição ocupacional e/ou ambiental aos toxicantes ocorre em níveis que ocasionam efeitos deletérios à saúde, exigindo ações, como a prática agroecológica, educação em saúde e ambiente e requalificação dos profissionais de serviços de saúde. A abordagem tem como benefício situar o sujeito como agente integrador e influenciador de seus processos, potencializando seu empoderamento para a uma gestão ecossistêmica conjunta.

El estudio del movimiento es parte esencial del análisis ecológico a nivel de gen, individuo, población, comunidad y ecosistema. Los marcadores de ADN son herramientas muy útiles para el estudio del movimiento a todos estos niveles, permitiendo, por ejemplo, establecer relaciones de parentesco entre individuos, determinar el origen poblacional de individuos migrantes, estudiar sistemas de apareamiento, cuantificar la escala de interacciones interespecíficas, o caracterizar el patrón espacial de la dispersión y la competencia. A nivel de gen, los marcadores de ADN son imprescindibles para estudiar la estructura y el flujo genético dentro y entre poblaciones, así como su efecto combinado con otras fuerzas evolutivas y los factores bióticos y abióticos del medio sobre la adaptación local. En este artículo se revisan algunos métodos basados en marcadores de ADN que pueden resultar de utilidad en ecología del movimiento, identificándose áreas de estudio en las que se espera estos marcadores sean de especial utilidad en los próximos años.

En el Refugio de Vida Silvestre Pantanos de Villa se analizó la preferencia de hábitat de las aves residentes y migratorias en función a la estacionalidad de 211 especies de aves, de las cuales 97 son residentes, 82 migratorias y 32 visitantes ocasionales. De acuerdo con el uso de los hábitats: 80.1% de especies habitan en cualquiera de los hábitats de pantanos, 40.8% en el litoral marino, 37.9% en parques y jardines, 33.2% en pantanos y la playa marina, 34.1% en pantanos y los parques y jardines y 1.0% en la playa arenosa marina y los parques y jardines. La mayor similitud de especies se encuentra entre las que habitan en la zona arbustiva y parques y jardines con 82.3%. La intensidad de las fluctuaciones de la riqueza de especies varía según el hábitat que ocupan con los mayores valores entre marzo y mayo en los espejos de agua (25) y en el litoral marino (24). La gestión de Pantanos de Villa debe priorizar el mantenimiento de la heterogeneidad de hábitats debido a la baja similitud entre varios de ellos y exclusividad de especies para los mismos. La comparación entre las preferencias de hábitat de las aves y las plantas muestra que es necesario tener en cuenta más de un taxón en la toma de decisiones para el manejo y conservación de la biodiversidad de los humedales costeros.
