The use of alternatives to synthetic fertilizers is an important issue in organic systems. A two-year field experiment to evaluate effects of organic fertilizers on the yield and quality of open field grown tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) was carried out in Southern Turkey in 2000 and 2001. Combinations of manure, blood flour and micronutrient preparations were used for fertilization, and conventional mineral fertilization was included as the control. Yield did not differ between the fertilization and the Conventional treatments in the first year of the study, but the highest yield was obtained from conventional in the second year. No differences were found between treatments in terms of fruit soluble sugar content or citric acid. The application of organic fertilizers positively affected the micronutritional element content of tomato fruits compared to the conventional treatment. Organic fertilization results in improved yield and fruit quality compared to conventional fertilization. En la actualidad conviven variedades locales con variedades foráneas. Como alternativa al uso de insecticidas químicos están los bioinsecticidas, como es el caso de Bacillus thuringiensis, que es específico para el insecto plaga que se desea controlar. Un factor clave en la producción por fermentación de biopesticidas basados en Bacillus thuringiensis es el diseño del medio de cultivo, el cual debe ser económico y contener todos los nutrientes necesarios para el crecimiento del microorganismo. Del cultivo se espera que rinda una alta producción de ingrediente activo conformado por los cristales que contie­nen las toxinas y por la espora del microorganismo, y que este ingrediente posea el valor de toxicidad requeri­do para la formulación del producto comercial. En este trabajo se estudiaron diferentes medios de cultivo, se seleccionó un medio promisorio y se optimizó para la fermentación con una cepa nativa de B. thuringiensis te­niendo en cuenta no sólo el ingrediente activo sino también los costos que éste genera en materias primas. Se lograron concentraciones finales de ingrediente activo entre 15 y 16 g/L con un costo aproximado por mate­rias primas de $650/kg producto (aproximadamente US$0,30/kg producto). Bacillus thuringiensis-based biopesticides specific for insect plagues are available, which, represent an alternative to traditional chemically-based products. Culture media design is an impor-tant factor in the production of biopesticides based on Bacillus thuringiensis. The media have to be economi-cal and they must contain all the nutrition factors required by the bacteria. The yield of active ingredient, comprising the toxin-containing crystal protein and bacterial spores, must be high and with adequate toxi-city to formulate the biopesticide. In this work we studied different culture media and optimised a promi-sing culture medium for B. thuringiensis fermentation to obtain an active ingredient for use as raw material in manufacturing a biopesticide. The final concentration of active ingredient was 15 to 16 g/L and the raw material cost around US $0,30/kg product. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Bajo un diseño ecológico se analizó una base de datos con el número de casos de dengue que se presentaron en 1 249 localidades en las 11 Jurisdicciones Sanitarias del estado de Veracruz durante el periodo 1995-1998. Cada una de las localidades fue identificada de acuerdo con su altitud, latitud y longitud, y con el número total de la población por sexo, el número de viviendas y la dotación de servicios públicos. Se tomó también el índice de marginación por localidad del Consejo Nacional de Población. RESULTADOS: El dengue en Veracruz se registró en 17% de las localidades y en sólo 6% de ellas se concentraron 70% de los casos de dengue en el estado. Las localidades repetidoras de dengue fueron grandes centros urbanos, con baja marginación y extensa dotación de servicios públicos. El dengue sí se transmite en las áreas rurales del estado aunque la transmisión es ocasional. El promedio de casos de dengue reportados en las localidades dependió del tamaño de la misma y del número de años que reportaron dengue durante el periodo. Se reporta un umbral poblacional para la transmisión. CONCLUSIONES: Se identificaron las localidades repetidoras de dengue que concentran 70% de los casos, y las determinantes sociales y ambientales de la transmisión. Este enfoque de riesgo puede mejorar el control y tener un impacto significativo en la prevención de la transmisión en las zonas de mayor riesgo. To establish the various effects of the coronavirus on the economy and protective equipment, as well as probable transmission channels. Methods. Mathematical, empirical, systemic, analytical, economic and other approaches are used to study the development of the world market in the conditions of the coronavirus disease. Results. We give a brief description of the Kermack–MacKendrick epidemic model, corresponding to the general nature of the current coronavirus epidemic, that can dramatically change the global market development scenario. We show three scenarios for the global economy development. Quick recovery implies a slowdown in economic growth in the United States and Europe will end by the end of March; China is likely to recover by the end of April, and demand will recover relatively quickly. Global slowdown implies the economy will recover at the end of the second quarter, but global GDP growth in 2020 will drop to 1...1.5 percent. Global pandemic implies a serious shock to the global economy, which can last for almost a year. Conclusion. Three scenarios of the world economy development in the context of the coronavirus crisis are formulated, as well as the various effects of the coronavirus disease on the world economy are identified; remedies are proposed. We concluded that the coronavirus disease will affect microeconomic heritage, macroeconomic heritage and political heritage. Multilaterally, the crisis can be interpreted as a call for increased cooperation or, on the contrary, a need to expand the bipolar centers of geopolitical power. We list a number of mathematical papers with extensive bibliography on COVID-19. On the example of one of such works we have shown that the Kermack–Mac-Kendrick model remains the backbone of the research in this sphere.
